The pizzas we ordered were fresh and tasted excellent. Ambience was good. The only issue was with the Margarita as the staff member didn t know how to make it. She anyways served it and it was nowhere close to how it should be.

Today we went to the Criterion to have an early lunch. My wife my 10 week year old son and myself. Now we didn't see the over 18s only on the door which was our mistake but the way this was handled was so appalling it ruined not only my first Fathers day as a dad but also my wife's evening. I went to the bar and ordered $70 worth of food and drinks and when it turned up downstairs the lady who brought it to us was so rude. I understand we didn't know it was 18s over only but by saying you are going to have to get out of here and then or I can put your food in a box or get a refund is not a great way to make a young family feel. The way the situation was treated was horrendous experience for us and when I was over it and trying to pack up my family to leave the lady came back and said you have to get out, i was over it and said "okay whatever". she promptly told me you don't have to be rude to me sir......i can't believe how rude the experience was. We took our food in boxes and ate it in the green room at the state theater where I am currently working. I am musician who works in Sydney and not only am I now avoiding your venue where I have spent considerable money and time after performances the room was also filled with my friends who are musicians who were appalled with how we were treated and will not be attending your hotel in future. Many ways this could have been handled but the way the lady handled it has left a foul taste in my family and friends mouths.

The Criterion pubs revamp by P.J. Gallagher's into an Irish pub works well with friendly staff and better food - its a bit tired in places, but it still have my favorite people watching window in Sydney - just grab a cold beer, take a seat and watch the city buzz outside.

The underground bar has a nice atmosphere. Topside was crowded and fairly loud until late though being a Friday night, it can be expected. Staff were friendly and kept the place tidy. Was surprised that it is a cash only experience underground but topside there is an ATM and paypass terminals at the bar. Ordered a medium rare steak that came out as medium well though the chips were nice. Seating was comfy/cozy with n the booth and considering the prices in Sydney, it was reasonably priced. Not the greatest pub experience but a nice one.

Lovely atmosphere and staff.

Lovely atmosphere and staff.
Only thing I didn't like was you needed pass to go to the toilet and it's wasn't clean, one of 3 Basin taps were broken and there was a weird hole in wall. So not as nice for somewhere you needed a pass for.

Nice little pub, friendly service, good beer selection, food was also good. The address using maps is confusing. This place is actually on the corner of Pitt and Park streets. The main visible signage says Criterion, but smaller signage (that look like frames movie posters) does state PJ Gallagher s

It's a weird but in a nice way kind of bar. The upper part is a proper old school sports bar while the basement goes full tilt on the Irish heritage shtick. Beverage choice is plentiful and the staff are genuinely helpful and pleasant. It's got a very casual laid back vibe unlike some other CBD bars. A great place to have some drinks and a yarn.

A really nice pub in the city. I went on a Friday night to watch my team play in the NRL. I called the pub before we went to ask if they were putting on the game and they were so friendly to put the game on with volume. The food and drinks were good and we had a great time. I would definitely come here again in the future!

This pub is very convenient to Town Hall station. They usually have some Irish music on the weekends though it can get quite crowded on weekends when there is a game on. It isn't the prettiest hotel in Sydney and it is in need of serious renovation but it's comfortable, the staff are friendly and the location is great.

Stay away and run away from this pub as far as you can if you're Asian. That young Irish girl is such a rude. It s the cheapest place to use or ignore the Chinese! I've been a Korean but my English-speaking friend has worked, but when I was foolish, I almost stopped crying. Seriously.
