About Oxfordshire Army Cadet Force
Oxfordshire Army Cadet Force (ACF) is a youth organization that provides young people with the opportunity to develop their skills and abilities through military-themed activities. The ACF is open to boys and girls aged between 12 and 18 years old, who are interested in learning new skills, making friends, and having fun.
The Oxfordshire ACF offers a wide range of activities that are designed to challenge young people both physically and mentally. These include drill, shooting, fieldcraft, first aid training, adventure training, sports competitions, and much more. All of these activities are delivered by trained adult volunteers who have undergone rigorous background checks.
One of the key benefits of joining the Oxfordshire ACF is the opportunity to develop leadership skills. Cadets can progress through a series of promotions based on their performance and commitment. This allows them to take on increasing levels of responsibility within their detachment or company.
In addition to developing practical skills such as map reading or navigation techniques during fieldcraft exercises or learning how to shoot safely at a range; cadets also learn important life skills such as teamwork, communication skills & self-discipline which will help them in all aspects of life.
The Oxfordshire ACF also offers opportunities for cadets to participate in national events such as the annual National Cadet Competition where they compete against other cadet forces from across the UK; this event tests their physical fitness & mental agility while working together as part of a team.
Recruitment into the Oxfordshire ACF is ongoing throughout the year with regular intakes taking place at local detachments across Oxfordshire. Prospective cadets can attend an open evening where they will be given an overview about what being an Army Cadet entails before deciding whether it's right for them.
Volunteering opportunities are also available within the Oxfordshire ACF for adults who wish to support young people in their local community by becoming adult instructors or civilian committee members; no prior military experience is required but enthusiasm & willingness-to-learn goes a long way!
