I am 65 years old and went on an Outward Bound course when I was 21. Outward Bound gave me experiences and lessons that I have continually applied to my life. Sailing in the Cutter during a storm in the Sounds, our group getting lost in the bush and having to stay another night, being dropped off for three nights in the bush and going from terribly unfit to fighting fit over the three plus weeks I was there all added to the confidence I have in my physical and mental stamina to never give up.

Great way too experience NZ's nature, meet others who are on the same journey to discover, challenge and overcome the physical and mental barriers. The whole experience was worth the two weeks!

Very well run course, great instructors push you far enough out of your comfort zone for self discovery. Recommend the three weeks over shorter courses. Heaps of scholarships available if you know where to look.

About Outward Bound New Zealand

Outward Bound New Zealand: Unlocking Your Potential through Outdoor Challenges

Outward Bound New Zealand is a non-profit organization that has been helping people unlock their full potential since 1962. The organization offers outdoor education programs that challenge individuals physically, mentally, and emotionally. Outward Bound believes that by pushing oneself outside of their comfort zone, they can discover new strengths and abilities.

The classrooms at Outward Bound are not traditional ones; instead, they are the mountains, bush, and waterways of New Zealand. Participants in the programs learn to navigate through rugged terrain, climb mountains, paddle rivers and seas while developing leadership skills and teamwork abilities.

The courses offered by Outward Bound cater to a wide range of ages from 16 years old to adults. The courses vary in length from five days to twenty-one days depending on the program chosen. Each course is designed with specific outcomes in mind such as building resilience or developing leadership skills.

One of the unique aspects of Outward Bound is its focus on experiential learning. Participants learn by doing rather than just listening or reading about concepts. This approach allows for a deeper understanding of oneself and others while fostering personal growth.

Outward Bound's programs are not just for individuals seeking personal growth but also for organizations looking to develop their employees' leadership skills or team dynamics. The organization offers customized corporate training programs tailored to meet specific organizational needs.

Safety is paramount at Outward Bound; all instructors are highly trained professionals who prioritize safety above all else. They ensure participants have proper equipment and training before embarking on any activity.

In addition to its core outdoor education programs, Outward Bound also offers scholarships for those who may not have access otherwise due to financial constraints or other barriers.

Overall, Outward Bound New Zealand provides an unparalleled opportunity for individuals seeking personal growth through challenging themselves in the great outdoors while also offering organizations an effective way to develop their employees' leadership skills and team dynamics.
