About Our time
Our Time: Empowering Young People with Mentally Ill Parents
Our Time is a non-profit organization that provides support and advocacy for young people who have a parent with a mental illness. We understand the unique challenges that these children face, and we are committed to helping them overcome these obstacles and thrive.
At Our Time, we believe that every child deserves to feel safe, loved, and supported. Unfortunately, when a parent has a mental illness, it can be difficult for them to provide the care and attention their child needs. This can lead to feelings of isolation, confusion, and even shame for the child.
That's where Our Time comes in. We offer a range of programs and services designed specifically for young people who have a parent with a mental illness. These include:
- Support groups: Our support groups provide a safe space for young people to share their experiences with others who understand what they're going through. They can connect with peers who are facing similar challenges and receive guidance from trained facilitators.
- Counseling services: We offer individual counseling sessions for young people who need extra support or guidance. Our licensed therapists specialize in working with children affected by parental mental illness.
- Educational resources: We provide educational materials on various topics related to parental mental illness, including how to talk about it with others, how to cope with difficult emotions, and how to access resources in your community.
- Advocacy: At Our Time, we believe that every child deserves to have their voice heard. That's why we advocate on behalf of young people affected by parental mental illness at the local and national level.
Our programs are designed not only to help children cope with the challenges they face but also empower them as individuals. By providing them with tools like education resources or counseling services our goal is not just helping them survive but thrive despite adversity.
We know that having an ill parent can be overwhelming at times; however our team is here ready willing and able to help. We are committed to providing a safe and supportive environment for young people who have a parent with a mental illness.
Our Time is dedicated to making sure that no child has to face the challenges of parental mental illness alone. If you or someone you know could benefit from our services, please don't hesitate to reach out. We're here for you, every step of the way.
