Great Venue. Perfect fuchsia. Able to see and enjoy from any seat.
We saw Three Dog Night. It was awesome but the theater does need some serious work!
Nice venue. Beautiful old place. Was a little bit hot in the balcony, but that's better than being cold here in Wisconsin.
Loved this venue, saw Dirty Heads in Nov 2017, easy to find, lots of hotels and food near by.
Kinda rundown, decent sound system. No limes in the bar.
Our night was ruined by staff that didn't know how to mix sound. The band had to walk off stage to fix audio in the middle of the set. Having seen this band perform before at other venues and rock, the experience at the Orpheum ruined the show by drowning out all the instruments with bass.
Security was also rude and the GA floor had probably 4 security people walking around and ruining the intimacy of the concert.
Never going to this venue again having had the night ruined.
This is the go to theatre for Broadway shows. Acoustics sometimes spotty depending where you are sitting.
Spoon rocked, but Foster the People was even better! Pease bring back every year!
Lounges need a serious cleaning. Otherwise it was enjoyable
Front row seats were these tiny cheap flimsy plastic things, and crammed together. Everyone in the front section looked quite uncomfortable. What a waste of money. Hard to enjoy the concert, which is really disappointing because Ingrid Michaelson is one of my wife's favorite artists. Will try to avoid this venue in the future, and if an act we feel we must see is there we will avoid the front sections. Really trashy that they had such seating. We were shocked when we got there and saw it. Beware.
This is such a great venue and I love my experience every time I go.
This place is Beautiful and awesome for a concert Kaleo and Zz Ward we're spectacular to see here!!!
Great place to see a show. Plenty of public parking ramps nearby. Beverages are a bit pricey.
My girlfriend and I went to see NF here and it was much larger than expected. I would highly recommend it.
Great music venue, friendly staff, reasonable drink selection.
Such a beautiful place to see shows. Great sound, great staff, great space
Beer is ruinously expensive. Usually a line for the women's bathroom, and most of the time the floor is wet and icky. If they didn't book great artists, I'd never come here.
A lot of variety and a surprsingly large number of big name bands
Always great customer service! Always clean and respectful!
A beautiful old theater. One of Madison's treasures.
Did a fantastic job with the sound mixing for the concert I was at. The band was easily understood and we could hear everything well.
Ordered Box seats for a show and had to listen to amother party in the box complain about not getting to sit in the front, you should number the seats so this doesn't happen.
Loved the environment; loves the sound. It was 9 bucks for beer but it was 28oz. so it was worth it. It was a can to hold on to at those awkward moments when I was like party or chat?!
Beautiful old theater, and a great place to catch a show. Plus, it's on State Street, so there is usually plenty to do before and after the show... especially if you like drinking.
Great theater excellent security. Dirty Heads brought the house down loved it!
This was my first time going to the Orpheum. Pretty much what i expected older building with limited restrooms and cramped area. Very happy with the security of the event and can't wait to see my next show their in a few weeks. Both shows were great butt serving hot chocolate in a plastic cup was not very smart.
What a fun place to visit. I got to see William Shatner and it was awesome!
Nice place to see a concert or Bernie Sanders. I worked there for a little while and should have tours the place is supper cool inside. Upper deck seating and multiple bathrooms.
Place itself is nice, but staff is horrible. They confiscated my friends ID because it was fake even though it was literally her real Illinois state issued ID. Bogus.
I have attended very many concerts here and I've never been disappointed
Great place for a wedding, even with a slightly sloped floor.
Really cool inside! Had a great time at the concert I attended
Saw Chris D'eLia there - awesome seating, great sound system. Spacious balcony with a great view & the beer is not too expensive.
Great place for a show, great sound and not really a bad seat in the place.
Saw NEED TO BREATH at this beautiful theater. It really was quite a perfect venue! Seemed like a mini version of the Orpheum in the twin cities. Same classical old feel, but still very clean and beautiful. Would definitely like to see another show here!
This is a beautiful theater to go enjoy a show at. I didn't give 5 star's because the ticketing situation was very confusing. I would recommend calling a day or two before your show starts so you can figure out how they seat ppl and in what order. We ended up waiting in a long line for a show with pre bought tickets that we didn't even have to wait in.
May be a bit run down, but under new management by Frank Productions the Orpheum Theater has definitely turned around. There's a concert pretty much every weekend, staff is friendly, there's plenty of room on the pit floor to dance and move around, good site lines of the stage every where, plenty of bars and bar tenders. It's great to see The Orpheum Theater alive again.
First time, a lot nicer than the Majestic Don't get me wrong though, I love the Majestic.
The acts are great, seating is pathetic. you literally have to sit at an angle with one cheek and shoulder on the seat because you can't sit shoulder to shoulder due to lack of room, all on cheap fold up chairs for 2 hours.
Instead of a new sign, they should get new chairs. or AT LEAST remove a chair or 2 from each row to make it more enjoyable. From that experience alone, I will definitely thik long ad hard on how badly I want to see the act there.
Great old theater. Only drawback I noticed was how close the rows of seats are in the balconey (didn't experience the floor seats). Barely comfortable for me and I'm 5'6". A long show would be hard on a tall person. Pictures are from David Byrne show May 16, 2018.
My and my sister's favorite venue for concerts. It's beautiful inside, the perfect size for a large but intimate concert, always clean and well air conditioned, and never too hard to get a good spot up front. We're always happy when our favorite bands are playing at the Orpheum.
Beautiful restored Orpheum.
Reminds me of all the other Orpheums I visited, Memphis, Chicago, etc.
PERFECT SOUND!
Todd Rundgren show where I bumped into "Tricky Ricky" Nielson of Cheap Trick, who also digs the hermit of mink hollow.
Loved seeing a show here. Seats were decently comfortable to sit in for several hours watching a comedian. Good views throughout the auditorium. Balcony seemed to have good sight to the stage throughout the show. Overall a really great experience, I hope to come back and see another show soon!
I got to a lot of concerts at smaller venues like this and this is definitely on my top 5 list in Wisconsin and Minnesota. Great sound, spacious floor with seating as well as balcony seating.
Really nice venue, with not as much standing room as other major halls in Milwaukee, but can accommodate a wide variety of shows. It's in a popular and nice part of Madison, parking is accessible and there's lots to do around town if you're stuck in line for a long time.
Historic vintage building with very good acoustic environment. Restrooms are in bad shape.
Security Staff are amateurs. My friend who is harmless stumbled two steps and security made him walk a straight line as if they were police. They kicked him out... unbelievable. I liked the old Orpheum better.
Lines were long going into the Theater. We sat on the 3rd row and where squished into our neighbor's space. The chairs where folding chairs and very narrow and hard and quite frankly small. There were not enough workers to direct people to their seats. The consessions were right in the middle of where the crowd needed to walk through to get to their seats. We enjoyed the comedy show. Just so glad it wasn't any longer as it was uncomfortable. They do have regular theater seating. I'd opt to sit further back to be comfortable.
Great place to see a show. Seats, especially in the orchestra pit are a bit cramped, and there could be better logistics getting people into shows. (People lining up at the bar made it difficult to get into the theater.) Pro tip: go to one of the the bars inside the theater. No lines.
All in all, a very good venue.
Great music venue! The high bleachers allows great views of the stage
Good concerts. Ive been to Skrillex and Cage the elephant here. The Event staff are usually nice if you're nice to them. I love General admission concerts and they have one every few months that I attend. There's one security dude who's older, shorter, with like a salt and pept beared whos super cool. He's been at multiple concerts I've been to and I always look for him. They also own the majestic theature and the berrymore.
We loved the needtobreathe concert. It was nice and cozy little theater. Parking was convenient for downtown Madison.
Was all around great. Only complaint are the chairs, but still awesome place to see music.
This venue is always a fun place to go. Downtown Madison on State, historic, the lights at night are pretty.
Venue is beautiful but everything is predictably overpriced
