Absolutely the worst experience today. I've been here before for a few low level emergencies and it wasn't terrible-but certainly nothing amazing. However, today I brought in my young son presenting for dyspnea and severe asthma. Nurse or assistant at registration was nice, but the intake nurse has a serious attitude problem. We have amazing insurance, and just tried to do what was best for our child. She started out nice enough, but then when I questioned the treatments, dosages, and what the radiology review showed, she got very angry. Rather than simply explain, or let the dr tell us why he chose to treat in such a way, she became verbally aggressive. When asked about the possibility of transferring a pediatric patient to a more pediatric appropriate facility, I was told they would not transfer anywhere. Shame on her for misreprentation of Orchard Hospital doing what's right and best for the patient. She demanded I sign AMA papers tho I repeatedly asked to just speak with the dr. Finally signed them, while my oxygen dependent son was struggling to breath, was told to go and then she tried to withhold scripts the intern was insisting we be allowed to take. At some point she even began arguing with the respiratory therapist on my son not needing treatment. We took him to Sutter, which was well worth the drive. They are absolutely horrified at the care and inability to recognize when a person patients should go to a peds appropriate hospital. Turns out that the treatment from Orchard also could have done more damage than good. Thankfully we got appropriate care from Sutter. We will be reaching out to the appropriate people for Orchard as well as the medical board. Beware going here, as this bad day certainly would have become a tragic one because of Orchard Hospitals neglect.
