Well cleaned, great staff/volunteers, great prices, and the dogs and cats are in great conditions. Mike was GREAT, he's nice with the costumers and the pets, he totally knew what he was doing. He answered all my question about the dog I wanted to adopt and the process. My family and I, did adopt a lab/pit bull Mix. So happy to have him home. 100% recommended. Looking forward to make donations to this great facility for a great cause. Thank you so much!

Found a small abandoned kitten under my car that needed some medical help, so I couldn t keep her. Brought her to Orange County Animal Services and everyone was very kind and respectful. Because of covid, I had to stay in my car. I filled out paperwork from inside my car, and the employee took the kitten from the car (and even put the kitten in her jacket to shield her from the rain while she brought her inside).

First time going into a shelter looking for a cat I found online to meet before adopting. I asked someone at the desk who told me immediately that I could adopt her and they could bring her out but I wanted to meet her first before doing so. Couldn t find anyone to help me at the cat area. A vet was checking each animal so I asked her. She seemed irked and opened the back door revealing all the floor helpers in the back room hiding. A guy then tried to help us and when locating the cat he refused to take her out since she had issues and was violent but it wasn t disclosed on the site or on the paper on the cage. I found another I was interested in and the guy laughed and said that one was violent too and he won t take it out. At that point I was frustrated I was walking out but he panicked and told me to wait as he tried to quickly snatch the cat out. Honestly so irritated with how they handle things here and it definitely ruined my trust in getting an animal at their shelter. Hope they retrain their employees and I truly hope they treat the animals better than what I saw.

I was very upset because I asked a man for help and a woman for help. We were the first ones to see this fur baby and tried to ask for him instead I got ignored and pushed away and lost the little boy. This was our 2nd time going there and I'm disabled so it's not easy for me to take this 1hour and half ride. I think that when someone walks into the door someone should go with you. This c way here you don't loose out on an adoption that you wanted.

Was hoping to go in and find a cat to adopt but they aren t allowing anyone to go unless they have an appointment. Kind of disappointing. I don t believe you can choose a pet from the internet.

Adopted a sweet kitten from a foster parent here. Amazing adoption fee of only $10 and that includes vaccinations, spayed, microchip, and a little goody bag. They do awesome promotions like BOGOs, where as other places charge nearly $200 to adopt an animal. Nice job!!

I volunteered here for awhile. It is an amazing and loving environment. Friendly staff and volunteers. Animals get good care. There is always specials for adoptions. I would definitely come here and adopt!
If I could I would adopt every dog and cat there.

My fiance and I came here to see if we could find a kitten that we would connect with. Everyone from the 2 women in the front doing the adoption paper work,to the 2 volunteers that helped us we're amazing. We spent a while opening each cage and interacting with all of the cats. A gorgeous calico really caught our attention and we found ourselves gravitating towards her. About an hour later we decided to adopt a 6 year old, gorgeous girl who was just returned for the 2nd time THAT day. One particular volunteer was amazingly sweet and attentive to the people but more importantly the cats. I could tell that she loved those cats like they were her own. The entire process was such a great experience. The animals looked well taken care of and happy. PLEASE consider coming here to find your new family member. Also please consider adopting an older animal,I promise they arwbt set in their ways! They can adapt as well as anyone. Nixie is the sweetest girl, with the most gentle personality.

I was very excited to come here and get a cat. I went on a day where it was a deal and I spent $30 for him. Pretty great price. What they didn t tell me was how sick he was when I got him. He looked sick the moment I picked him up but I was told he was fine. Less than 24 hours after bringing him home I was bringing him back to the vet with my one free visit. He had an eye infection. He had a runny nose and was sneezing since the day I got him but they didn t make note of it and I had to go back a week later and get him an antibiotic. They didn t even look at him, they just prescribed me the medication. Then, a few weeks after that I went AGAIN because he had an ear infection, something that there were signs since I had gotten him on day 1 but didn t think was an issue. Between the last two visits I did bring him in for his free rabies vaccine and they thought he was perfectly healthy. From $30 I have spent $200+ because they didn t tell me how sick he was. I wish they informed me when I got him how sick he was. I would have still gotten him but would have paid for the medications on day one rather than have to pay for 3 visits amounting to $28 separately. Very disappointing but I do have a cat that I love to death.
The staff inside the area with the kittens and cats are phenomenal and the wait time for the vet isn t too bad. Only giving 2 stars because they didn t tell me he was very sick when it was obvious when I got him.

Friendly, helpful knowledgeable staff and volunteers. We were there to find our recently lost cat and they were most caring and explained the process of how long it takes to locate an animal from the time their officer picks up the animal to when it appears on their site for viewing. The cats appeared well cared for,, by that I mean, neutered, vaccinated and illnesses treated so they can be go to their "forever homes". I encourage anyone looking for a pet to adopt rather than buy at this location.

Volunteers need to have better facts on the dogs up for adoption. .. too many altered stories about the dog we adopted. ...could get one euthanized just because they have fear aggression. And misunderstanding.

My newest family member was added today. The 7 month old Ozzy? has been chosen. Due to hurricane Dorian over 50 animals a day have been brought into the shelter for safe keeping. The August special of $10 for cats and $20 for dogs ends tomorrow. Save an animal today!!

Staff could have been a little more genial towards our situation. My husband found the most pitiful of dogs I have ever seen. She is a chihuahua that he found on the side of a very busy road. The dog was terribly emaciated, loosing her hair, she has this huge tumor or blister like cluster of sores that are leaking a clear bloody liquid and the poor girl has no teeth. The woman who assisted us was very blunt and callous towards the situation and the future of the poor girl. Anyways I thank you all for your love and time put forth for these defenseless animals.

THEY ADOPT OUT SICK PETS AND MAKE YOU PAY FOR THEIR RECOVERY!!

The cat I adopted from there is amazing. She's the sweetest, cuddly, lovable fluff ball. The volunteer that helped me find her was so knowledgeable and kind. The lady who did the paperwork was very friendly and made small talk about her cat. When I adopted my cat she had an upper respiratory infection, 90% of the cats there had it. They sent me home with some medicine and told me she should be fine. On the paperwork it states if anything medically goes wrong within 10 days to bring the animal back to the clinic. I also verified this information with the lady who did my paperwork and the officer who brought her out to me.
After her not eating for a day and her eye being matted shut I became very concerned. The nurses are very short with you and you never see the actual vet. The nurse took my cat in the other room and looked at her for a few minutes. She came back out and said she has an ulcer in her eye. Also that I would have to force feed her for awhile. She sent me home with some eye drops and rudely told me they can't see her anymore and I'd have to take her to a different vet. I explained I was just doing what the lady told me and what was stated on the paperwork. This place is SO quick to adopt out sick animals and make you pay for their recovery. They claim there's only so much they can do at the clinic, then you have to go someplace else. If they can't properly care for the animals the have and ones they've adopted out, they shouldn't be in business. But honestly, they probably just put those animals down.
I took her to a REAL vet who told me the eye drops they gave me where for an infection (like pink eye), not an ulcer. $200 later, my cat is doing much better. It's just SO ridiculous the place where she got sick at didn't help her like they stated they would.

Great, great, governmentally ran shelter, staff seems to genuinely care about the animals. The on-site vet clinic is a plus, as well, and our little man seems as well adjusted as a newly adopted shelter animal can be!
One tiny note: I hope the warning labels on the other animals are more correct than our fella's was. He has never, in the shelter or at home, exhibited agression, though his kennel tag stated that he was alternately agressive and exhibited fear agression. I just hope the employees realize those labels can be a life sentence. I'm sure they do, and ours was just an oversight.

The staff and volunteers was sweet and friendly. The cat I got I love(A little secret, I prefer dogs) The cat was a bit thin when I got her, now she's thickening up real nice and likes to sleep with me . I'm really happy with my choice in pets and with the help I received from the volunteers and staff.
Thank you all very much for a sweet and wonderful pet. Check out the pictures I placed with my cat. Her name is Tomasita

Everyone there were so friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. I adopted a 3 1/2 month old black kitten formerly known as Miso, now named Axel. For the month of December adoption fees are just $12. My kitten came home already neutered, micro chipped and has had 2 sets of vaccines. You can't beat that price. Even at regular price ($40) it's 100% worth adopting and not shopping. If you're thinking of getting a pet this holiday season check out all the wonderful animals at OCAS needing homes. My little guy is an angel and doing so well adjusting to home life as you can see from his photo.

After doing some research to find the best place to adopt a dog, Orange County Animal Services was my first choice. During February they were having a special of $40 to adopt a dog. I was ready to adopt a dog since I moved into a new house where I can finally have a pet. I checked out the dogs online to learn about which ones were interesting to me. I really enjoyed this feature because you can see photos of the dog, know their characteristics, health status, and when they were placed in the shelter. I had a few dogs I wanted to visit in person. The check-in process was very convenient to complete in the lobby. Then I followed the signs to the kennels.

I was able to checkout the dogs on my list in person to see how they would interact with me. The dog I wanted most was not friendly sadly. As I walked down the kennels to checkout the other dogs, one dog came up to the kennel door to me. His name was Oakland. He really caught my attention, seemed to like me, and he did not potty in his kennel. This was a sign he was potty trained. I asked to meet him in the play area to see his behavior. Once outside, he was so lovable to me. He came up to me, allowed me to pet him, and he knew his name. He also went to potty in the area as well. I knew he was the one to adopt.

The process from here was very convenient back in the lobby. I filled out the application, answered the questions, and agreed to the terms of condition. The adoption fee covered all his shots, vaccines, and neutered fee. I had to wait a week per the policy, but I received a call that he was ready a few days early. However, the day I picked him up was the same day of his surgery. It was very difficult to handle him because he was still sedated and he did not know who I was. In the end all went well as I followed the care instructions for him.

After having Oakland for 2 months now, he has really attached to me. I have experienced no issues with him at all. He is a very lovable dog that I adore so much. I do not know why his previous owners gave him up or if he was picked up from the animal control. Regardless, he is the prefect companion in my life right now.

Check out my photos in my Yelp profile to see him enjoying his new life with me in some hikes and car ride. I would highly recommend checking out this shelter for a new dog or cat to adopt. The staff was very friendly, informative, and provided excellent information that they could. The animals here are taken great care of while staying here. Oakland was in there for 23 days. I was skeptical why he was in there for so long that no one adopted him. It was meant to be that we belong together. Thank you so much for this wonderful opportunity.

Not a good experience with these people. The only person that was nice was the woman in the lobby. Cannot fathom why some of these employees treat people the way they do and give them a hard time.

I read the reviews here and, once again see how spilled and entitled we all are as Americans. Grow up, people. People bring sick or unwanted pets here and drop them off. They do their best to find good homes and they practically give them to people who complain about taking them to the vet for a cold. What is wrong with all of you. Stop complaining about taking your best friend to the vet. You walked in there and picked him/her so that you could boast to all of your friends that you"rescued" something. Take care of it. Sometimes, when you adopt a pet, it isn't what you expect. It's like having kids. You do what you have to do when a member of your family is sick. When you "rescue" a pet, you're adding a member to your family.
I don't have any association with them. I just brought my dog there to be spayed 4 years ago. They did a fine job. Thanks

We adopted a dog from OCAS. They were absolutely fabulous. Very helpful, patient, professional and kind. So glad we took this route....
Our dog had heartworms and we adopted anyway. OCAS found a sponsor to take care of the expense to cure the heartworms.
PLEASE go adopt from here, plenty of great animals that need to find loving home.
God Bless this place for what is doing in saving furry friends

I was greeted with multiple friendly smiles upon entering and the volunteers were amazing. They checked on me while I walked through to see the dogs, explained how the monitors worked, and made themselves readily available. They were also honest and knowledgeable about the dogs and worked hard to find my forever friend. They also asked a little about my lifestyle to match with the temperament of the dogs. It was a painless and easy process. Thank you all

Staff is always friendly, whether is the OCAS or volunteers. We have been there a few times and we r going to adopt a dog they are holding for us (to make sure doesn't get claimed by the owners). And place is clean and welcoming since the last renovation. I would recommend if u r looking to save a furry friend's life.

If you are thinking of adopting an animal, it is the best place to do it. We recently adopted our pit bull. The experience was fabulous. Very efficient customer service and extremely clean place. The worker took her time to play with the puppy and get to know him a little bit before making the decision. Our already came with a tracking chip and give you a bag of food that you give there for you to mix with the new one that you will integrate. We are very happy with our new member of the family and it feels very good to know that you are giving a home to an animal that someone else did not want at some time. The animals that go through that are very grateful then.

This place is a joke. I had someone leave kittens and a mommy cat at my work (vets office) we called 5xs in a span of a week for them to pick up, never showed so I volunteered time and drove them up to Conroy dr and first I walk in and I am completely ignored. Finally someone asked if I need help and I told her the situation. She asks again if they are strays.. very snarky. Then I am ignored again.. all while trying to breath threw the smell of cat urine, that is burning my nose. Finally a gentleman took the animals from me and told me its kitten season and they will be euthanized. I asked about fostering and both the man and women started laughing saying all the fosters are full, like I should have known that. I have worked with a shelter and I know how difficult it is but that gives no reason to treat people this way. If you are miserable (which obviously you are) find a new job because your attitude makes the terrible situation the animals are in, much worse.

I adopted my kitten from here about a month ago. They were extremely nice and she came with all of her shots, neutered, and litter trained as well. They were super nice and had a special going on :)

Side note: don t get this animal shelter confused with the other one in the same parking lots. The signs are confusing and I went to the wrong one at first too. The other one charges more and has fewer pets.

I adopted from this facility for the first time in March 2007. I am adopting from here again, already finding a beautiful puppy last week. The staff is very helpful & very nice. They keep it very clean and the animals seem well cared for. Adoption fees are very reasonable as well.
