I had high hopes for this restaurant and after a night at the White Horse, it had a lot to live up to. The food did not disappoint. We had the mixed seafood platter, which was very lovely, fresh and spot on. The staff were friendly and knowledgeable and didn t seem pretentious at all. The layout of the restaurant however, left us feeling rather uncomfortable. It was bright and spaced out, which didn t make it feel very romantic. It made us feel like we were being observed by others and not at all intimate. The dated pop music didn t help matters either. It wasn t in keeping with the trendy upmarket vibes of the menu and website.

Overall great food and staff, but they need to take a step back and think about what vibe they are trying to set.

What can I say? To start with, service is fantastic. Craig is lovely and amazing and you want to go back there just to see him. Food was delicious and oyster hours fantastic. Never thought I loved oysters that much. The deep fried oyster was a surprisingly delicious twist. Sharing platter works more as a starter if you are sharing between 3/4 people. Ondine is definitely worth a visit if you are in Edinburgh. On arrival we were told we couldn't sit at the bar because the didn't have a license for children. As we had a table booked for later on, they sat us at the table do we could sit with our daughter and served us the bar deal. Lovely <3

Sensational seafood. Roy Brett understands seafood and this restaurant has the best that Scotland has to offer. Every bite is delicious. The freshness and delicate flavours are not hidden by this master chefs light touch. The private dining room is perfect for celebrations and the main restaurant has a buzz that even the new social distancing rules don t ruin. Don t forget that we have this gem right on our doorstep and when you can t be bothered to cook I hear that their truly historic hone delivery service just might be coming back.

Definitely one of the best seafood restaurants in Edinburgh, its a lovely place to be in with friendly knowledgeable staff and excellent food/wine. Pleasantly relaxed atmosphere means that it's easy to relax and enjoy your visit. Be warned though, it's not cheap, but it's definitely worth it.

One of the dishes was very salty and we had to get the manager for it to be addressed. Otherwise the food was fantastic and the oyster happy hour is an amazing deal. Would definitely recommend!

The risotto could also have been a little bit less al dante. The soup was great!
