Toddler play space great. Nice to not need to clean up house! Exhibits havent drawn us in. Cafe ok and seating great. Not ok with no outside food...entry is too expensive and its like they dont understand kids only want THEIR food...can't hang with that overly posted angry rule at all so l just feel uncomfortable and go elsewhere.

This place was awesome for all the kids. They have something for everyone here including the parents. The general admission will get you into about 60% of the building with tons for the kids to explore. A hand full of attractions do require additional fees for entry but you can make a whole day out of a GA pass. As a parent it was great to sit back and let the kids explore the physical world around them: from water runoff, to wave power, bridge designs, to turbines. They offer so many hands on activities you will just have to check it out for yourself!

As an engineer I thoroughly enjoyed the clockworks they have on display. As well as the other whimsical engineering contraptions they must collect to keep things interesting.

Fantastic day with 5yo. He loved it and we spent the entire, without visiting it all. We need to go back! Only negative part is the restaurant... super long wait for a grilled cheese sandwich, quite unprepared. The submarine is really cool.

OMSI meets and interests audiences of all demographics. Thank you OMSI for such an experience into science, you help the rubber-hit-the road for many on the topic of science. You peak our interest(s).

Some of the displays were obviously older. The children's play area was well organized and had lots of activities for the kids. The cafeteria was surprisingly good and not nearly as expensive as one might expect.

My 4 yr old had a great time. He especially enjoyed the area where he could build things with woodpieces, plastic nuts and bolts, and plastic gears. He made an awesome boat car :) There's a variety of stations so it's great for all ages and interests.

Must visit if you are in Portland with kids. A lot of scientific information and activities. Most of the fun activities will usually include a short (5-10 minutes) line to participate. Also expect a line to get in if you are not member, so plan for at least half a day there, it worth the time.
The only con of the place is the laser show in the Planetarium, I would rather expect it to be educational program, instead of this pure entertainment which left us with headache.
Nevertheless, OMSI as a whole gets 5 stars.

I'm giving this two stars because about 3/4 of the exhibits were closed and yet the admission was still full price and they didn't warn us before purchasing said ticket. So of the bits we were able to see, the human life exhibit was the most interesting. We were a group of adults without children, so much of the rest of what was open was not really geared toward us. Not worth the $14, not including parking.

We always have a great time at OMSI! Pretty disappointed that the ball exhibit is gone and has been replaced with a bizarre and semi-lame temporary fake alien exhibit. My kids were not pleased with that particular bit.

Annual membership a great investment for families. My kids (3, 5 & 7) love the science playground, and have since they were crawling. Blocks, sand, water, rotating craft activities, a "store," animal habits and more engage them for hours at a time. I love that the are is enclosed such that I don't have to keep arm's length from all three of them: I can let them get involved in two or three different activities and just check in from time to time. We're still growing into the other areas of the museum, but we commonly spend lots of time in the ball room and electronics lab downstairs. And the rotating special exhibits are always worth a visit. I like to finish off our time with an espresso from one of the two cafes, while the kids love to eat their lunches (packed from home) in front of the enormous steel "marble run" display, a classic that's been at the museum since I was little. We also used or membership reciprocity to great effect on a recent visit to Florida.

Pretty cool place. Wish we went to more movies. A lot to explore. Check out the tickets at the front desk before choosing what package you want. Parking is paid and can be hard to find. GPS took us to a lot far away from the front entrance.

I love OMSI! I last visited as a kid and I had such fond memories despite being younger than eight. I returned as an adult and was just as enthralled. The scientific exhibits brought out the student in me, and I also got to see the amazing and moving Pompeii exhibit that I will remember for the rest of my life. Any chance you can, go to OMSI.

Good for kids under 10, and occasionally they have an exhibit come through that is worth it. They always have leering sleazy security guards that look like they were gathered out of a halfway house.

I expected a whole lot more. I guess I'm spoiled living near California Academy of Science and Monterey Bay Aquarium. However, staff was friendly, the store had a lot fun options, I scarred my son for life walking him through the pregnancy exhibit, and I'll never forget the robot with no bells or whistles sarcastically complaining about life.

So fun for kids! We were there during a deal where it was only $2pp to get in. Great deal! It took us about 2 hours to cruise through. We didn't do the extra exhibits due to toddler nap time but would have loved to do the submarine and the planetarium! The growth of a human baby was the most interesting to me! Wow!

Highly recommend the main exhibit the with all the insects and animals for all. The science part of the area was more geared towards kids. The pregnancy exhibit was very interesting but a little eerie to look at.

A fun trip for sure. Wouldn t be apposed to going again.

Hint: purchase tickets in advance and the just pick them up at the concierge counter where the line can be significantly shorter.

Parking is $5 and adult admission was $15.

I usually go here because there's an event in the Empirical Theater venue, or to see an IMAX movie. I miss the old curved screen from before the remodel, The main attractions in the science halls don't change, but the traveling exhibits are usually quite good. Went to the DaVinci Exhibit, and also to the Pompeii Exhibit.

Came to town and asked around about what to do. Locals were unable to provide much help, so we went off the hotel provided map. 8 adults went to the Oregon Museum of Science and Industry. Bought ticket for admission and extra tickets to the planetarium for the Dark universe show. The 30 min planetarium show was really cool and informative, but the museum itself was directed mainly for children. Great for the children, if you have them, but for adults it was not worth the money. A lot of labs and kid station and not much for adults. Had it not been for the planetarium it would have been a total bust. Submarine was closed for maintenance and main exhibit room was closed for maintenance. Also on a plus side is there is a bar with wine and beer, yeah! I had the Italian sandwhich and it was very yummy! Wife had beer can chicken sandwhich and hated it. Would I recommend it, if you have kids, yes. If not, no.

Our family always has a blast at OMSI. It is one of those places that you could, especially with kids, spend the entire day there. The displays and activities are fun and informative; many of them are open ended, so they keep you occupied for a while or feel different with every visit. The staff are knowledgeable and run great experiments. If you're a local, certainly worth the membership.
