Olympia Entertainment - Detroit Red Wings, Fox Theatre & Hockeytown Cafe Review

**SEE UPDATE June 2019** We went here after a Paw Patrol Live show for lunch and it was pretty busy. The service was really slow. I ordered a burger and fries, when it arrived there was a hair in my fries.. I showed it to the waitress and she took my whole plate away. Took another 10 minutes to get another burger and fries, was cooked wrong but didn t care at that point.... no one stopped by the table to say sorry or offer a discount. Then it took forever to get our bill.. not a good experience at all .. won t be back.. **UPDATE June 2019** I contacted the management per their comment to my review and they promptly refunded my bill and apologized for the service we received. They displayed great customer service when I was unhappy. Thank you!

If the food was as awesome as the theming this would be a five star review. Food wasnt bad but it sure was meh; also the service was very slow.

Food is pretty good, nice atmosphere, but seating is very tight. Bathrooms in the basement was a bit of a throw off, but nice place.

Atmosphere out of this world! Good food great service. TVs all around. Good example of what a sports bar with an attitude should be.

Food was just ok. Nothing special to write home about. Was no impressed with the service at all. Waitress brought me the wrong drink, then took 10 minutes to come back. Then when our food was brought she forgot mine said she would be right back and proceeded to bring food for another couple tables and serve them before she remembered my food. Also is it a new th ing wheb someone spills something like their drink that you just look at the table and floor and then keep walking. When the table finally asked a server for napkins they brought them out and left them on the person's table and walked away. No help was given and they were not brought out new silverware or napkins. They cleaned up the used napkins only after they were asked if they could take the wet napkins. What happened to good service? Not impressed.

Good food for sports. Service is pretty good, but the structure has room for improvement.

The Hockeytown Cafe was a great historical and dining experience. We just ordered appetizers but they were large enough for a full lunch, and VERY tasty!! I was totally thrilled with all the Hockey memorabalia covering 40 years of Hockey or more. This is a must visit location for anyone interested in Hockeytown; Detroit, MI.All of my Hockey heroes are represented there and of course the Ilitch family motorbikes are displayed arounf the cafe. I am thrilled that is is located withn walking distance of the new Little Caesars Arena, the Detroit Tigers Stadium and the Detriot Lions Stadium as well.

Awesome memorabilia and service, decent food. Could use some updating.

A typical sports bar with lots of fried greasy for options. This is obviously here toward redwings but it's a nice stop for the casual traveler too.

The worst customer service! Arrived supposedly walked in and was to rambunctious... this place is a joke!

A unique place to visit for meals and drinks before a hockey game. Burgers, sandwiches, wings and fries are all good.

I ve worked in a restaurant my whole life and I could never imagine walking up to a guest and saying, I need to get through here. Instead of saying, excuse me. Customer service was poor and the floors need mopped badly. Your restaurant is a tourist attraction, nothing more nothing less.

We went there to eat after a hockey tournament. The staff was super friendly, the service was quick, and the food was amazing. They were able to easily accommodate our party of 20. The kids and parents loved it! We will definitely visit again the next time we are in tow .

Cool place to eat. Had a meal/drink before a concert. Service was slow (our section quiet). Had to get our own drinks from the bar (twice) bc waitress couldn't be found. Food was good for the price.

For any sports fan you will love this restaurant. Filled with great memorabilia from the Wings and Tigers as well as being located conveniently across from the Fox Theater and Comerica Park. Also, the food was excellent. I highly recommend the Mac and Cheese!

The service was great, food excellent, it was dark need more lighting so you can see what you're eating.

Two of us had Michigan cherry burger had to send it back twice worst burger I ever had the meat was greyish in color and so dry will not be going back on the good side waitress very pleasant.

This used to be the place to go before/after Tigers game. Still a good crowd but good quality has went down hill. Last time I was here I had the equivalent of Little Ceasers pizza. This time I had the worst wings I have ever had, anywhere. Tons of great places now in Detroit - go elsewhere.

Definitely a must if you're in the area, especially if you're a Detroit sports fan. Great service and we loved all of our meals! Hey hey hockeytown!

The atmosphere is great! The bike when you walk in is even better. The food is good not the greatest i have had but for the price it is good.

Saw evil dead last night at city theater they gave us small cups for pop filling them to the rim with ice we got two sips out of them. They did offer refills but we had a show to watch. Then main floor bathrooms were closed as they made us walk up and down stairs to which a friend had bad knees.

Service is terrible along with the food. I actually saw a roach for the 1st time in my life. Just crawling up the wall. When pointed out to waitress she. Just shrugged her arms like it was a common thing. We left & will never be back.

Detroit atmosphere. No better Detroit sports place anywhere.

Place very busy between womens hockey and Wings game. 40 minute wait, but no fault of Hockeytown. A bit pricey (c'mon, sell pitchers!), but food was pretty good. I had nachos that were hig enough for two. Others has wraps, stuffed potatos, burgers, and all were happy. Service excellent with place so crowded. We had a party of 8 and we were able to sit together.

Amazing location, friendly staff. Lots of cool hockey memorabilia.

Stopped in before a Tigers game, third time visiting but first in a couple years. Liked the text when table was ready. Dislike the fact they streamlined the menu, although i understand why. Their Mac and cheese was great last time but not available on short menu. Service was slow, drinks took 15-20 minutes to arrive, food 20 after. Was really looking forward to eating there after the first couple times, but we won't be back

Excellent place with some real good food. Service was excellent. Restaurant ambience was great as well. We had such a great time there.

Pretty solid spot to grab a drink before a show but wouldn't recommend it for dinner. Food takes a while to come out and drink deals aren't anything to write home about but it's totally fine for a beer or two.

I really enjoyed our pit stop here! Loved being able to see Ford Field and Comerica Park just across the street! Nice selection of craft beers from Michigan, which I always love to see! Very good. Enjoyed the Chicken Clubhouse sandwich with mashed potatoes & greenbeans. Waitress & hostess took good care of us

Service is dogmeat. Good food but good luck getting it in a reasonable amount of time.

Went is show at the fox theater and went there to get dinner. The only things they were serving was pizza and appetizers, really disappointing because it was a Saturday night. Was seated by one waitress, and we did not get it drink order taken until 5 minutes later by another waitress. They were not busy, and people came in after us got their food and drinks and left before our food order was taken. After she took our drink order it took her anther 10 minutes. Two coffees were ordered and she brought us decafe (ewww) with cream and took her another 5 minutes to get sugar. After being there for an hour with drinks gone. Or food finally arrived with no silverware. We had to ask her for drinks again instead of her asking us. We saw our waitress run around flirting with another staff member instead of making sure her customers were taken care of. Then we asked for silverware from the hostess they picked the silverware up and placed it back down. Service sucks at Hockeytown Cafe. We finally asked for the manager Paul and if course he had been drinking himself. Horrible for a manager. I will never go there again.

Food is okay, beer is alright. Hockeytown is fine for a game day meal, but there are plenty of better options if you aren't right in the stadium district.

I had the black and blue burger! It was amazing and huge! Our sever was Shebby she was very good! Thnk you for a great first time experience!

I live 3 hrs away from Hockeytown so I could not wait to eat there. Every meal at the table was horrible! 1st off the waitress came to our table to take our order, bring our drinks, food and then the bill, the only 4 times we saw her. All 3 kids had a burnt grill cheese. I was able to scrape the burnt crust from one side of the sandwich but the other sides were to soft/rubbery to scrape so i peeled the bread off. Then my girlfriends chicken sandwich came cold. We found the nicest bartender to help us out with her chicken sandwich. When it finally came back it was a completely different sandwich. We gave up on all the food. On top of all this we still had to pay the full bill!! The only one who apologized was the bartender we had to find to help us. Now let s talk about what the are doing that illegal. The tax your alcohol!! When i talked to the manager about it ( I went searching for one). He said they have a new company that s running their system and he s sure they no what they are doing. I told him he might want to look into it because they are not and it s on Hockeytown. As I started to walk away he said I know your right . Still was charged tax though. There are many amazing restaurants in the D to enjoy. Don t waist you time on Hockeytown!!

The food is okay, but expensive. You are definitely paying for the location and atmosphere. It is a cool bar and it is close to Comerica and Ford Field.

The food here is horrible. Hamburgers have grizzel

Wish I could go lower than a one star honestly, all the food is just frozen food thrown ina deep fryer 2/10 quality around a fast food place and the only reason I would give you guys a single star is because the bartender was nice but she didn t do her job right and give us a number and gave our food to someone else... waited a total of 45 minutes for my meal will never ever ever come back and suggest you don t either.

Great sports bar near all of the arenas in Detroit.
Food is great, staff is very friendly and helpful.

Had a good time here before a Wings game. The service wasn't that great but the environment is cool. Good place to grab a couple drinks with your friends and then head to the Joe.

Well, we had a velociraptor for a waitress, she was so rude, and yelled at us for seating ourselves, even though only one other table had people, and the food was yuckie

I've been here before and I remember it being much better all around. The food was... average. The smokey bbq chicken salad I got was about $1.50 worth of iceburg lettuce with a little onion, tomato, and shredded cheese on top served with regular ranch dressing and a piece of grilled chicken on top. The chicken was good but I've had better salads from a drive-thru. I will add, though, the French fries were pretty spectacular!

Check in process is great. You get a text on your phone when your table is ready. Prices are high for both drinks and food. Waited about 20 minutes for a server once we were seated. Burgers took about another 30 minutes after that. Food was ok.

The food was fresh and enjoyable. Service could have been a little faster,but overall pretty good.

Long wait on nights of events but thats to be expected. Food was quick once we sat down and delicious. Super convenient location for tigers games and fox theatre events.

Amazed by the poor quality of food. Children's mac and cheese was the standard kraft mac and cheese but it looked like it was 3 hours old. We ask for it to be replaced and the server brought back a different bowl that look exactly like the original crap they brought out before. We just had her take it away and told her to forget it. Steak tips tasted like the cheap taco bell fajitas steak. The piece of salmon I had was about 5 oz and dryed out. The management was completely invisible. Will not go back.

The food was as good as the hockey team. The service was as good the hockey team. I ordered nachos, because who can mess that up? I ll tell you who, the people who can blow a 5-1 lead in the third period. I know the hockey players and the wait staff are different people, but maybe they should switch roles for a season.

Food is great every time I have been. Our server was new on my most recent visit, and did a great job of finding out the answers to all of our questions quickly. I wish they had better game day drink specials. My most recent visit was not too pricey overall.

This is a great bar for any Wings fan trying see a lot of Red Wings memorabilia. I recommend stopping by before a home game and spending time with like minded diehards!

Good food. Right across from little ceases arena. And comerica park. What's not to like? Go red wings!

If you want a place that serves your drinks 20 mins after you sit then brings your straws 20 after that then 1hr later still doesn't bring your food then look no further you've found it....enjoy starvation fella.

Food was OK. Wait was long, so it ends up being average.

Two of their best beers offered they were out of. Having the most popular beers on draft can only help their restaurant pub.

Not a fan of this place....we sat at the bar on the ground level, there was water dripping either on us, or right in front of us, talked to the manager to let him and the bartenders know about it and they did know and didn't care whatsoever! It turns out that the dirty water would overflow from the dirty dish sinks on the floor above and drip ....DISGUSTING and won't return

We went on a Friday 6:00 with shows and a evening ballgame so we knew things would be kind of slow but we barely made our 800 show and it was so loud that our waitress couldn't hear well enough to get the order correct. I could hardly talk with my wife across a small table. They corrected the food quickly just need more staff or a better system to handle this kind of chaos. Online menu needs to be kept up to date. It wasn't..

Horrible service & food. Under new management and spoke with the owner. He doesn't give a damn.

The game time menu is a slap in the face. Not much to choose from. Decided on the nachos that had way to much nacho cheese on them, making the chips soggy and unappetizing.

Great place to get a bite to eat and beverages before a game. The waitstaff and bar tender were attentive and friendly. Prices were reasonable and sure beat paying for concessions at LCA. The aesthetics of the place were unique; the custom choppers crafted astound the theme of Detroit sports teams were a nice touch. Overall, I'd highly recommend at least stopping here once.

If your a wings or tigers fan definitely a spot you want to check out lots of great sports memorabilia and a good beer list

The few times I have passed by I have heard many many complaints from the staff. I have spoken to cooks and its worst on that end when it comes to the complaints. I dare not try the food I'll just put it like that. For the most part it's cool for a beer in a bottle. After a show or a game.

Stopped in before Pistons game for beers and appetizers. Service was horrible, manager no where to be found. Food was obviously sitting in the window for 10-15 minutes because our waitress was to lazy to go get it. Some crud was frozen in my ice cubes. Overall way overated

This place is an expensive Coney Island. My waitress had an attitude because I asked for a plastic fork since my silverware was dirty. She asked everyone at my table for a water except me despite my water being finished. Won t go back.
