Old Town Tortilla Factory Review

What can I say. Hands down the best margaritas in Scottsdale. Hand made to order and served in cute individual shakers and traditional margarita glasses. There's two pours in each shaker. Large outdoor searing area and ample seating indoors as well. The bar is in it's own separate outdoor Casita. It is cozy and intimate. Bartender is extremely skilled, friendly and fast. The food, is excellent up scale traditional Mexican. Parking is tight, you might want to consider Lyft or Uber, especially if you plan on having a margarita. Just like chips, you can't have only one.

Awesome restaurant in old Scottsdale! The food was excellent, one of the members of our party is gluten free and the restaurant was easily able to accommodate. Service was also fabulous. Would recommend to visit and also recommend not to eat all day before going (so much food)!

Very good food! Outdoor seating a nice enjoyed the misters everywhere. We had the Mahi Mahi tacos and the Seabass, definitely reccomend both.

Is an ok place. Food wasn't bad. The waitress was a little rude but I have noticed people in Scottsdale is not used to seeing wealthy South Americans so they aren't very nice a the beginning (very pretentious). Once you speak and they realize you are educated they are nicer.

The anniversary party was a great success! It was a wonderful celebration and everyone really enjoyed themselves. I'm so glad I picked the Tortilla Factory as our venue as we had the perfect dining experience.

Margaritas quite ok. But the name is a little misleading...

My wife had been there several times before we met, and had always raved about the food and overall great dining experience. We met two other couples there for our bi-monthly get together for dinner. We sat in the patio, which was beautiful, and was a nice departure from so many of the other places we have dined at that are LOUD, and with blaring music. But that's where the pleasantness ended. We always get separate checks, and asked the waiter if that would be ok...he hesitated and said yes. I'll get back to that later....three of us ordered a beer, and it arrived with a plopping down of three bottles...no glasses, nor even an inquiry if we wanted one...we had to ask for some, and arriving were 1 chilled one, and the other 2 at room temperature. Ok, fine...lets get to the food. Nothing was horrible, but nothing was memorable either. It was bland, and well, just ordinary. Okay, fine...lets have some coffee and maybe a dessert. "The coffee maker is broken" was the reply. What!? Are you kidding me?! So okay, let's get out of here...give us the bill(s)....we get some lame warning that they may have gotten mixed up, so just figure out what's not yours and adjust the checks accordingly. And sure enough, our bar tab were on another couples bill, and vica versa....what a mess and that we were left to figure everything out ourselves is just plane "bush league." Needless to say, we're never going back, and my wife said she is shocked how far the food and service has sunk since her last visit. We may have just hit a bad night, but from what I saw and tasted..I think not.

Thanks for fitting my group of 20 in last night. The app platters were a great start along with the tasty margaritas. Our party enjoyed the nice mix of menu selections and the first class service. We will be back next time in town.....

Outstanding service. Beautiful deck at night. Fish tacos, Hot tortillas with chipotle butter, best guacamole anywhere. Terrific cocktails and ambience. Bring your out of town friends here. Fun and festive!!

Food has very little flavor. Chips were stale. Compared to Texas it is very much subpar.

The servers seemed very overworked. The margaritas tasted like there was no tequila and were made with Sprite. The food was mediocre at best. The irrigation hose on the patio was broken and was constantly pounding on the roof throughout the entire meal.

This ambiance was exceptional. The service was sub par. I had the tortilla soup which tasted like it came out of a can. To add to the misery, they charge you for chips and salsa. It's like they took one of those bogus Mexican restaurants from the Midwest and plopped it down in Old Town. Place is a pathetic joke. Don't waste a dime here. I'm a native of the Valley. This place caters to out of Towner's who don't know any better.

This place is highly over rated and the wait was long too. I went there because of the reviews and was disappointed not only in the food, but the high price too. There must be better in town for Mexican food.

Very disappointed showing up to this place and expecting to enjoy some good mexican food (01/01/2020). Chips and salsa were not complementary and not cheap especially for store bought chips, quac was 7 dollars! The pork verde was not verde at all and merely the pork juice with potatoes and bland. The fish tacos were inedible due to the six dried out and chewy tortillas that seemed like they were out for a long time, the fish was a huge chunk of dried over cooked fish, and no fixings to compliment the taco itself.

This place is awesome. Great food, great service, great atmosphere! Just do it. Had the Filer Mignon and it was great.

Where can you go wrong here? Outdoor eating at it's finest. You are gently misted while indulging in homemade bean tortillas. The sonoran meatloaf had the perfect kick and to top it off it's wrapped in bacon. I recommend this restaurant to anyone who is near Scottsdale.

We had a great rehearsal dinner ron friday! The food, atmosphere, service and margaritas were superb. Suzannah made our experience stress free and enjoyable... We can't wait to comeback with friends and enjoy another great experience.

Very nice, casual courtyard dining environment. Delicious, reasonably priced cuisine. Friendly, attentive service. Yes, when in Old Town Scottsdale, you have to experience the Old Town Tortilla Factory.

The stars are for the margaritas only. They were on the weak side, but plentiful and inexpensive. Next time I would opt for an upgraded tequila, of which they have many. The food was horrible. Its a "tortilla factory", but the nachos were made with cheap, bulk processed tortilla chips, and a cheese wiz type topping. Stick to just a basket of their homemade tortillas, which looked very good.

This is an excellent Mexican restaurant experience. We sat In the courtyard under the starlit sky on yet another unforgettable Arizona evening. Food, service, and ambiance were top notch.

You'd think a "Mexican" restaurant would have a better selection. Ordered the something del mar salad which was good, but not what I expected from a place like this.

My sometimes very picky boss said it was probably the best Mexican food he's had! Others readily agreed and also commented on the very cool ambiance.

Not terrible, but not good, and overall a very disappointing experience! The menu is very limited and the prices don't represent a good value for the food served. It's also the only mexican restaurant in Arizona that charges for the first round of chips & salsa. There are much better options for Mexican food in Scottsdale with better food and value.

It was our first time back in Scottsdale in 5 years. The property and the patio looked better then ever. Our server Justin was wonderful! The Mahi Mahi taco's and Pork Chop were delciious and the margarita's were just the way we remembered them. One of the managers even stopped by the table to see how our meal was. Can't wait to come back on our next visit.

Excellent food and service but expect a $90 tab for two with one drink. Pricey caters to the more affluent crowd it seems as the prices rwflect that

Very over priced for the average food. The fish tacos had no flavor and the margarita was very small for $12. Good atmosphere on the patio and decent service. Wouldn't come back.

Tortilla factory should have good chips and guac. Guac was not fresh, it was darkening from being out too long. Chips were not good.

I was looking for spicy Mexican food.. but this turned out nice. Great comfort food stop.

Recently hosted a rehearsal dinner for my son and daughter in law. I am
out of state and was concerned about the outcome. I could not have been more pleased with the outcome. Food was terrific and plentiful. Drinks we

The service was great and the food tasty without being overly spicy. The chicken lettuce wraps were so refreshing on a hot day. We'd definitely return.

Wish I could leave 0 stars. Came here tonight at about 8:30pm, with a party of two and got seated right away outside. We were both very excited to kick off our weekend here enjoying the nice weather. Sat down, and never ended up even being greeted by ANYONE. Got waters and that was it. No server ever came to take our drink order or EVEN STOPPED BY THE TABLE. This was after 20 minutes of waiting!! Unbelievable. I ve never experienced anything like this. We made eye contact with a handful of staff and no one ever bothered to come wait on us or even check to see who our sever was. Finally, I went back up to the hostess stand, to tell them no one has even come to our table, and they say, oh we told Erin you were sat in her section. That was it. No apology, no remorse. No offer to have us sit back down and be helped!!!!! We left. Sat in a restaurant for 20 minutes with no service on a Friday night with lots of waitresses and waiters coming alongside our table. Thanks Erin.

How can anyone have anything bad to say about this place? Food - Service and Atmosphere was EXCELLENT! 5/5 stars

This was my first dining experience on this short Arizona trip. It was all downhill from here. This place is incredible. The food was great, the margaritas were delicious. My ONLY complaint was that maybe the margaritas could be a little bigger for the price, but whatever.

The wait staff was great, the patio was incredible, the flan was delicious. Every aspect of this restaurant was great.

All the locals suggested not eating here. We did and it only validated their suggestions. Asked what a "must have" app was. Nachos. Seriously? Nachos? They don't make most of their tortillas, despite being Tortilla Factory. Chips are a pre fried disaster. They don't even cry their own chips.
Their version of chorizo fundido is a mostly cream cheese-ish dish with a little cheese and very sparing amount of chorizo.
Atmosphere is pretty cool but can't make up for the sub par food

Saw all the great reviews on here and thought this place was going to be amazing. We choose to sit inside because there was a 40 minute wait for the patio. When we arrived everything was great we order an appetizer and our meals. The appetizer was okay, very salty. It took a long time for the food to come out and when it finally did it got delivered to the wrong table and the waiter then proceeded to take the food they gave to the wrong table and say oh we're going to take this and get you a new plate only to reemerge with the same plate and have the food be cold like it had been sitting there for a half hour! As someone who has worked in the food industry this service was apauling. I do not recommend unless you want gross and cold food served by a wait staff that thinks you're stupid.

Rick is an awesome bartender and that is why this place deserves input. My husband and I love having him serve us. He is not only friendly but super knowledgeable about the menu and takes pride in his service.

We had a great meal last night! Our group of ten enjoyed the beautiful patio and the fantastic Southwestern cuisine. Rick was sharp and recommended some great selections. The homemade cheese tortilla's and tomato butter were priceless. We can't wait to come back...

You get what you pay for when you dine at the tortilla factory. Wonderful service, food that makes you say wow ! We have been here two nights in a row, Taylor and Conner providing top service! We will be back again - maybe tomorrow.

Suzannah and her team were so gracious to host our large military party at the last minute. Thank you so much for being so accommodating. I am sorry that my party did not show up on time (I told everyone several times that the dinner started at 1815 sharp!) Anyway, the food and service was fantastic. I'd like to come back again with my family sometime soon. I really appreciate your support for the military.

Food was OK. I have never seen a Mexican restaurant that served mashed potatoes.

Great food and atmosphere. It would have been better if they had draft beer.

We sat outside on a hot August evening. Water misters were running so it was comfortable. We were soon given two large glasses of iced water and a huge bowl of chips and dips while we decided on our order. Margaritas followed which came with the excess in a mixer and one each was plenty for us! We ordered enchiladas which were perfect, not too spicy with great beans and rice. Highly recommended.

Extremely good food!! Highly recommend the Old Town Tacos...mix of shrimp, grilled chicken and steak was perfect with the rice and beans. I would also recommend the Queso Fundido as an appetizer...our table loves the queso! I'll definitely be visiting this place again when I'm in the Scottsdale area.

The music in the bar was way too loud and not the music you'd expect to help create the atmosphere we were looking for. The chips didn't taste fresh and were cold, and the tortillas were tasteless. If the margaritas had tequila in them we couldn't tell. Disappointing to say the least.

I love this place. The food is fantastic. The service is always friendly. The place has that cool old world Scottsdale vibe. And they just made our tequila available. Try Bonita Tequila when you visit. You will love it!

Had a great time last night! Our server Trent was genuine and recommended the perfect selections. The hidden gem margaritas along with the homemade tortillas were a great start. The mahi mahi tacos, pork chop, and green enchiladas were delicious. We loved the inside of the restaurant but look forward to enjoying the lovely patio when things slow down.

Excellent Service. Great food. Loved the patio area. Waiter was excellent and when we moved to the bar, the bartender had us rolling with laughter and was great to every customer he interacted with.
