It was my first time to see and hear the sounds of the music of students from the Ojai Schools, The conductors and directors clearly had chosen works that lit up the younger children as they watched and danced in their chairs. I was dancing as I stood in the back and watched in awe. My eyes welled up as my heart filled with joy to see children playing music so beautifully. The percussion presentation was fun, energetic, and interactive. Thank you Ojai Music Festival for bringing the Imagine concert to so many children and families in Ojai.

Ojai is the town to visit and buy wine. There's a trail that extends all the way to the beach. The trail is flat and it runs behind the main street in Ojai. Beautiful town.

Ojai's music festival is magical to me somehow. I came years ago with my dad and we enjoyed our evening under the oaks. This time I'm attending the afternoon concert. The setting is equally magical but for different reasons. The relaxed friendly vibe is not often felt in the day to day. The musicians warn up beforehand while guests congregated on the nearby tennis courts for a pre concert discussion. At the same time the festival is televising the event and is interviewing and reviewing the schedule quietly in the corner for viewers at home.
Ojai has been abuzz all weekend with festival events elsewhere in the Ojai Valley. This annual event will have to become a new yearly habit.

We attend this quirky and challenging music festival every year. We always learn something new, love something surprising, and wince at an experiment gone awy. But we LOVE it!!

The debut last night at the Ojai Music Festival of "The Classical Style: An Opera (of Sorts) soared through academic spoof and unraveled the hero worship of the greatest dead composers, Haydn, Mozart and Beethoven. Jeremy Denk has won me over as ardent supporter of his creative genius. With writing and performances like these, "classical" music will remain alive well beyond the "busts" handed out by piano teachers. The libretto, by Jeremy Denk, was filled with laugh out loud lines for music lovers. The score by composer Steven Stucky supported the content brilliantly- The performance enriched the audience's appreciation of music while poking lots of jokes at itself. Next stop, straight to google to figure out Charles Rosen... Bravo! Bravo!Bravo!!!
