Visiting Pittsburgh and drove out to Oakmont CC while nearby. Called pro shop twice in hopes of being able to go inside to purchase a souvenir. Was told we were not allowed and had security personnel watch our every move until we left the premise. Very disappointing.

Located just outside Pittsburgh, the private Oakmont Golf Club is home to a championship golf course that ranks with the world's best. Here you will find one of the United States' most admired and most feared inland links layouts.

Visited Oakmont for the USOpen. Was only on the greens and the merchandise tents, didn't venture into the country club (bc I obviously wouldn't be allowed). But it was beautiful. They did a very good job at setting things up, and tried their hardest to combat the crazy rain. They opened late in order to cover the pathways with mulch, and while it worked in most places....it was still extremely muddy. Well worth the experience tho.

The Thanksgiving buffet here is a sight to behold. It's is a real event. The only thing about the place is the price. A golf membership for two is in the tens of thousands per year. Get a perspective you dumb climbers.

Playing at this course is a once in a lifetime treat. Immaculately maintained, incredibly challenging, and yet it never feels unfair. The clubhouse is a veritable golf museum -- photos, signed memorabilia, and framed letters from many of golf's greats. The locker room showers have, without a doubt, the best water pressure (and volume) I've ever experienced. Notwithstanding all this tradition, Oakmont feels unpretentious and understated. The pro shop staff knows every guest is giddy to "load up" on goodies, and they are charming and helpful. This is a model for every private club.

The US Open 2016 was an amazing experience and the staff at Oakmont did a spectacular job in handling the deluge of rain. Any other course would have been unplayable, but they made the best of it.

Beautiful golf course with some iconic landscape. Visited here for the 2016 U.S. Open. Bring sun screen and purchase a lot of water because it's hot and you'll be hiking to chase down the golfers.

Our friends invited us for golf and dinner. Both were excellent. Pro shop employee, Susan was terrific. She helped me shop as well as ordered a shirt in my size. All was a great experience.

It was awesome to go their for a dinner. The history in the clubhouse alone was overwhelming to ME. If your into golf you have to go at least once. The food was very good. The service was excellent. The staff was very nice to us. The building was in excellent shape. Everything was very clean including the restroom. The golf course was in excellent condition. It was very nice to play a round their. I hope to be able to again.

Unless you are a member, or know one, you are probably never going to get anywhere near here, so talking about the club is probably a waste of mine and your time. So I will limit it to a review of Oakmont and the US Open.
I have been to the last 2 (2007 and 2016). I worked the open for a member, and had to work directly with Oakmont staff. They are GREAT! Everything is over the top. Seeing how the grounds crew handled the rain on Thursday (2016), and everything that was done from parking lots and the course by Saturday was just amazing!
It's big, crowded, usually hot, and if you are lucky enough to get one of the prime bleacher seats, expect to have to sit there from dawn to dusk to keep them. Let me repeat, it's a big, hot, crowded, and very few places with shade. So if you don't like it hot, you will be very uncomfortable.

A field of beauty! Since there are no trees, we can see all the terrain easily! The terrain is still hard to walk: lots of driveways up. Impressed by the hole number three, the signature of the course ... A beautiful par 4!

There aren't enough stars to rate this magnificent golf course. The "big ugly brute on Hulton Rd." is the best course I have ever played. Golf Course Superintendent John Zimmers and his staff should be proud of their accomplishments. I cannot sing enough praises about the fabled course at Oakmont

Generally nice looking venue but it seems like the wait-staff management only got a minor in hospitality and management and feel like taking a party favor right out of wedding guests hands without any warning is an appropriate thing to do.

Apparently it's against PA's liquor laws for an establishment who sells alcohol to allow guests to open bottles purchased outside its venue. The bride and groom had alcoholic party favors that were placed on the tables beforehand, but none of the wait staff thought to inform the guests about this stipulation, and when I asked the manager she said that it's "not their responsibility to let us know." Despite it being their liquor license on the line.

No warning, no "hey we're sorry but you can't drink that in here, please put it in your car or we'll have to take it." Just all of a sudden someone's hand was reaching over my shoulder and taking wedding favors from the bride and groom straight off our table.

Oh and of course neither her nor her sass-talking lackey had name tags on.

Entirely unprofessional and poorly handled.

An old, private, restricted membership golf club. ...

An old, private, restricted membership golf club. Home of several US Opens. Our other division did a publication for the US Open in 2016, and we interacted with the country club. But not being members, we were not able to evaluate more than just the grounds and entry way. If you got the money, the connections, and the inclination, this is supposed to be one of the great courses, and they pulled out thousands of trees to make it more "true to it's origins" before the last US Open. So apparently wind plays a big part in the golf play now. Wont be another open there until 2025, but that will extend their record number of US Opens to 10.

By far my most favorite course I have ever played. Everything about the experience was amazing. The greens were lightning quick and the rough was really high. As a 8 handicap, I was extremely happy with my 89. I hit it well and still didn't score well. The clubhouse is OLD SCHOOL and has a ton of history. So fortunate I was able to play it.

Just drips with history as you enter and walk around the club house. Spend timing putting on the practice green shared with ninth hole. Yes the puts do roll like that when you are on the course. Very difficult. You would think the course to be easy without tress--well it is not. In all the pictures the course even looks flat--also leaning toward and easy play. Bunkers and slope really come into play; hard to believe so much elevation change on this land. It all adds up to tough day of golf. But a great day to remember.
