Google lists the wrong address and hours.

Google lists the wrong address and hours.
Customer service (via phone) isn t familiar enough with the company info to answer basic questions. so they can t help. I went to two of their locations during business hours and was unable to drop off. Don t waste your time with this company. If there have been address or hour changes, I hope google can be updated soon with the right info so that other folks aren t spinning their wheels.

About Oakland Technology Exchange West

Oakland Technology Exchange West (Tech Exchange) is a non-profit organization that is committed to providing digital equity to residents across the East Bay. The company offers free and low-cost computers to families and schools, with the aim of bridging the digital divide and promoting responsible, green reuse.

The Tech Exchange was founded in 1995 by James Burgett, who recognized the need for affordable technology in underserved communities. Since then, the organization has grown significantly and has become a leading provider of refurbished computers in Oakland.

One of Tech Exchange's primary goals is to ensure that everyone has access to technology regardless of their income level. The company achieves this by refurbishing donated computers from businesses and individuals, which are then sold at low prices or given away for free to those who cannot afford them.

In addition to providing affordable technology solutions, Tech Exchange also offers computer repair services at reasonable rates. This service is particularly beneficial for low-income families who may not have access to other repair options.

Another important aspect of Tech Exchange's mission is promoting responsible reuse practices. The company encourages individuals and businesses alike to donate their old electronics rather than throwing them away. This not only helps reduce electronic waste but also provides valuable resources for those who cannot afford new devices.

Tech Exchange's commitment to sustainability extends beyond its recycling efforts as well. The company operates on solar power and uses energy-efficient lighting throughout its facilities.

Overall, Oakland Technology Exchange West (Tech Exchange) plays an essential role in bridging the digital divide in underserved communities across the East Bay area. Its dedication towards providing affordable technology solutions while promoting responsible reuse practices makes it a unique player in this space.
