Great acoustics, nice atmosphere, polite ushers, beautiful place. Went to hear the Songs of the Soul Concert dedicated to the music of Sri Chinmoy, a Bengali born composer of amazing spiritual music. Really enjoyed in the sounds of various instruments and beautiful voices. Only one thing which is good to know, the hall is under ground - meaning, no cell phone signal while you are down there. If you are meeting someone and they are running late, you will need to go up all the way to the entrance to speak with or text to them.

ok this place says that it has 860 seats but nyu has more than 20,000 undergrads altogether so idk who did the math here but i don't think we have enough
Was super excited for my first Skirball experience. I have been following them for a couple years and have always been super interested in their programming. Finally made the leap and splurged on a couple tickets for 'Five Easy Pieces'. I was so disappointed when the space and staff did not serve the piece at all.
After sitting in our broken, sagging seats, I commented to my friend before the show that the energy of the room "felt like a school assembly" - this wasn't a bad thing when I said it. There is a certain community feeling to that, but it soon became so distracting.
The space amplified every audience noise and there was a LOT of audience noise. An entire group of 6-8 college students in front of us were on their phones, chitchatting, and sharing pictures with each other on their devices the WHOLE show. I had a pleasure of watching every Snapchat and Instagram story from one woman's entire social network. People got out of their seats and left and came back into the theater multiple times. Five different times someone's phone rang or alarm went off during the show. I understand these things are generally out of a space's control, but there wasn't any announcement or even a program note to remind people to be courtesy.
I brushed that off because - sure audiences can suck - and tried my best to focus on the production. BUT then we were sitting pretty close to the sound/lighting table and the staff were loudly whispering to each other. I've never felt like an upset crotchety old theatergoer (I'm 25), but that night I did! It felt like no one in the space cared to be there - and that would of been fine if I hadn't paid money. Wish I got to see that piece in a space that cared a bit more. Super disappointing. Hesitant about returning, which is a huge bummer because they present great work - but if there space is like that every time it isn't worth the time/money.
Try to see the work they are presenting elsewhere if possible or maybe check if the night you are going the box office releasing a lot of comps? That may of been part of the issue? If it is a louder piece like a musical work or dance I'm sure it will be fine. I don't know. Felt like no one wanted to be there and took away from the entire experience and in the end I just felt bad for the performers and my wallet.
The theater is nice (the show wasn't great). There is plenty of bathrooms (gender neutral) and they are located near the entrance to the theater which is helpful. There is no WiFi anywhere in the center.
The Skribal has to find better people to serve the public. Joe the manager at the box office is a confused loser and very unprofessional...the staff is as incompetent as it gets. The child they have answering the phone talks like a bimbo constantly saying "umm" and "like". I'm sure there are smarter people willing to work in the box office.
A nice little theater building that hosts talks, theater, dance performances and more. The deals for NYU students are amazing and the program does contain true gems.
We went here for a NYU presentation that was more than worthwhile. If you're going to compare universities, be sure to check out NYU first, then see how the others add up. We still haven't decided, but NYU is certainly a top contender.
Went there on Mar. 3rd, 2017 evening, equipment failure after intermission. Instead of apologizing and issue a refund, management had us sit there for an hour while the show Boom Circus tired to get their act together. Reputable businesses respect customers' time, and refund for services not rendered. But not this place!
The Skirball Center at NYU holds a beautiful auditorium (with a bar if you're so inclined). The seats are comfortable, the views of offer stage are great from pretty much anywhere, and the sound quality is great. My experience here is mostly with the annual World Science Festival, which I highly recommend you attend!
Truly a wonderful resource for the Washington Square community! This center within the NYU Kimmel Student Union complex is ideal for a variety of events: film, theater, lecture hall, exhibits and so forth. We have attended more than a dozen events here and have nothing but praise for the venue and it's staff. Past year's artistic direction is just complete first-class. We urge more of the same for joy and delight all around...
This modern theater is a great place to see live acts. The view of the stage was great and they have a very good sound system. It is extremely well kept, has a very polite and helpful staff. They do have a bar area that has alcohol which you can not bring in the theater but bottled water is allowed in. They also have gender neutral restrooms which is a great move forward but for some it could be uncomfortable. No one honestly seemed to care at the show I attended.
For the first time I attended to see a show in NYU skirball, I found it fantastic, the kindness at the box office the theater in general magnificent, I was admired to observe in the right corner a translator in sign language, thousand and thousand applause for such KNIGHT I wanted to greet you at the end of the play (CORO GAY CIUDAD DE MEXICO) but they did not let me in, I regret that they had not taken it to the center of the stage to receive the deserved applause, something that mentions one of the ushers, I felt very comfortable with the chair I could get .Sec O boxes .... Row OB ... seat 9. I congratulate the organizers for having someone like the KNIGHT of sign language, since although it was not this day, my partner is deaf ... This way a greeting of applause for the ....
