Goodwill's mission statement is to change lives through the power of work. Some employees claim they are a second hand store that provides first class service. Some stores do this very well in some locations as reflected by employees and customers. Employees are constantly being mentally and physically challenged as this is hard work. Goodwill's open door policy is constantly being exploited, yet employees turn a blind eye as Goodwill's policy dictates. NPOs are needed in today's society and they do help some people, even people that only come out after dark. You can quote Karma, Bible and many other philosophical writings that reflect this life saving helping hand. Is this Goodwill's way of executing life saving Karma? Is society really getting a helping hand with Goodwill policies and procedures dictate. This survey explores Goodwill's philosophy in San Antonio, TX. Goodwill could possibly be on track to increase it's market share ten fold. Nonprofits mission and purpose is to provide a social benefit. Not so fast, lets dig a little deeper. Just like San Antonio is a sanctuary city, Goodwill operates like a sanctuary organization, They protect illegals from deportation, they rarely report crimes. They pay below standard wages which is at least $5 less an hour. Goodwill provides temperary jobs, not stabile employment. Second hand employees are not long lasting employees. Managers try to put people in positions where they don't belong and it frustrates everyone. Goodwill's objective is to give everyone a chance, which is humble, but managers do not understand the psychology of job placement. When your mission statement is changing lives through the power of work, your implying that people working there have some mental and/or physical issue. They hire people with handicaps (great), some are pronounced and some are hidden. Since they are a second chance employment, NPOs exploit lower wages. This NPOs psychological approach differs for-profit organizations. Empathy is a kind humble gesture, but if you choose the wrong person for the job, other employees end up suffering the consequences. If you have issues or problems, Goodwill is looking for you. Sympathy is part of their Goodwills marketing strategy. Exploting the labor market for cheap wages. With high unemployment rate, this is an ideal market for Goodwill's IPO. Backbone employees are more responsible and do not wear rose colored glasses. Backbone employees actually run day to day operations and have real integrity, not Goodwill marketed integrity. Backbone employees pickup the slack, never miss, always on time and have exceptional public relationship skills. Few backbone employees see things for what they are and don't whine about it. Backbone employees do all the work others will not do. Backbone employees want to make a positive impact on society. They have good moral character which drives their civic duty. They do not want notoriety, they want more income to survive. Studies overlook the sacrifice that many nonprofit backbone employees make. Some researchers assume that nonprofit employees simply aren’t smart enough or are unable to pursue more lucrative jobs. Backbone employees are the exeption to this study. Each store will never aquire stablity because they only have a few of the backbone employees. It makes more sense to thrive with stable employees than to keep recycling unsatisfied employees. Backbone employees try to prevent theft by putting their lives in danger. Backbone employees are dependable, yet they get treated like all the other incompetent employees. An example is that backbone employees are emotionally compassionate and intuitive. Toxic people exploit empathy for personal gain. Narcissistic and misogynistic cultures exploit others for personal gain. Migrant employees simply do not understand our economic structure. They just walk around smiling as if they understood English. Migrants will eventually figure out they're being exploited, becoming frustrated and quit. Migrant employees want to make US dollars to take back to their countries. They don't care about our clutural believe's. ICE would have a field day in San Antonio, TX. They hire fresh people, ware them out till they quit, then hire another employee. They know many people are desperate (criminals, substance abusers, youngsters, elderly) for work and will eventually pass through their doors. If new workers do not produce well, they will make up a reason to get rid of them. Labor is hard to manage and the most costly. Simply put, less employees, more year end bonus. Irresponsible employees will always exist in every industry, but they cause backbone employees more working stress. Backbone employees will not become Managers bacause they have real integrity (their words match their actions). There are good employees working at Goodwill stores in San Antonio which I label victims of circumstances. They have quality humble words with a quit demeanor that resembles a real classy person. They greet you well and are generally concerned about you. They were raised with great moral character and you can almost see the sincerity dripping off their face. Backbone employees will stop theft, but upper management will not change anything till someone dies. Regular employees know the pay is atrocious and moral is always low. They are simply waiting for a better job. Goodwill Industries markets employees as needing a hand up when they are really exploting them with unattainable goals and very low pay (approximately $5 dollars below standard wages). Exploting employees through unattainable workloads starts to frustrate people. Most of them just walk off the job never to return. Some employees become snitches or fake illnesses to get others to do their work. Snitches are usually guilty of trying to blame other employees of doing what they themselves are doing (i.e. demorats). Most of the employees are simply clueless, while others are just getting by, some are narcissistic, and never do anything wrong, it's someone elses fault. Self absorbed people will try to convince you they are backbone employees. NPOs get tax exemption status while employees earning a paycheck do not. Eventually 90% of employees will walk off the job or get fired by some erroneous reason. Few give two weeks notice and most will not use this place as a referrence. They want the public to think they are creating jobs for the misfortunate, when they're really exploiting the already downtrodden. Some of the young people there have no place to go, so they try to make the best of it. The work is to exhausting for them and they just get frustrated. If your thriving in this environment, that should be a reflection of your personality? You cannot treat people like trash and serve God at the same time. Goodwill has the right to run it's organization anyway they want. Society has the right to donate and shop for items elsewhere. I see multiple second hand stores opening in 2026. Goodwill Industries protects their massive scheme with Human Resources. They can't have Federal / State auditors snooping around and exposing their true nature. Human Resources knows, their lips are sealed. HR never answers the phone for regular people needing help. They are only there to screw employees out of pay. HR has been helping managers get rid of people for a long time. Human resources are simply there to execute the hidden general managers narcissistic agenda. HR helps management through bullying, manipulation and lack of support. Human Resources protects the infrastructure at all costs, just like cowards do. Recycling employees is much cheaper than keeping good ones. GW policies and procedures are very similar to liberal minded methods (DEI). Is Goodwill a victim of today's society or is it their own policies and procedures (HR knows). This liberal non-profit wants you to give them your unwanted resources in the name of human integrity. This culture in embedded under sanctuary city policies. They run on a similar model as (DEI), only this model is Diversity Incompitence and Egregious (DIE) model. HR uses the AT-WILL policy to get rid of people under false pretenses. Employees distrust human resources because the company comes before the employee. Goodwill has the right to run their NPO anyway they please, but treating good people like trash has severe consequences. Goodwill Bitters is the worst with Bulverde running a close second. Dezavala, Blanco, Fredricksburg, Blanco North and Evans are almost workable. The rest are not worth mentioning. It starts at Eisenhouer and Austin Hwy. Managers never last long, they come and go. This NPO is not transparent of how much money is used to help the commuity, also how money is spent on marketing and salaries. Managers and HR terminate employees AT-WILL while instructing other employees to remain silent. They have safety training videos because of State mandates, but training employees on a specific job consists of figure it out or your fired. If you have to work there, keep in mind that your testing your humility. Embrace ambiquity and chaos because that's what Goodwill is. Goodwill is not looking for talent, they are looking for new employee exploites. Goodwill is counting on a high turn over rate. Some managers and upper managers actually think they are doing society a favor. They operate on the premise that they are helping disadvantaged people, when they are really exploiting them. Non profit organizations say they operate differently than for profit companies. They want the public to think they are helping society. Less employees, higher sales prices and no security means big year end management bonuses. They are really ingenious about exploting people disguised as a hand up. The power of money compels you, the power of greed corrupts you. Identifying yourself as a nonprofit organization is an oxymorron. It's hard work convincing society your the solution to humanities problems. Give and we shall receive. Goodwill really appreciates your donations to an executives disposable income. Assistant managers must follow the General managers lead or get fired. All the employees that have actual Integrity will eventually quit or get fired. They get item donations, cash donations and government donations. Goodwill claims they can’t afford to pay competitive wages just like for profit company's. Non profits typically have a lot of red tape and bureaucracy, making it difficult for employees to do their jobs well. NPOs rely on donations and grants, they spend money on facilities, equipment, supplies, and marketing. Investments should be on backbone employees that keep the organization running stable. Upper managers focus on training middle managers techniques to keep employees in line. They are also very interested in numbers that every organization must keep increasing. Few understand the metrics (math) associated with employee sales numbers and month to date forcasts. Do as I say, not as I do. They have no interest in supporting backbone or regular employees. Goodwill's only goal is make more money, using fake empathy. You are allowed to make money in a capitalistic society, but this management structure is some kind of socialistic (AT-WILL) employment hypocrisy. They can get rid of you for any reason or make up a reason, yet they expect employee loyalty. AT-WILL allows employers to terminate at will without cause undermining workers rights. This lack of democracy in the workplace keeps wage low while reducing labor costs. Goodwill wants you to donate using the helping hand marketing strategy, but most of the money is spent on executive salaries, not helping people. Donating people and shoppers are allowed to steal, but employees are taught to ignore it. There is no employee protection against active shooters (robbers or assassins). They train employees to run and hide in active shootings, but you can't out run a bullet. One of the employees was run off by gangs pretending to be homeless and noone heard about it. NPOs thrive on recycled employees because it helps keep labor costs down. The colateral effect puts a strain on the responsible backbone employees. Shoppers, thieves and the homeless believe donations are up for grabs, and they are! You can scold them, but not stop them. Confronting thieves or protecting yourself will get you fired. Some employees who notice a hidden pistol in some customers waste band will ignore it and hope it stays there. Customers, donators and fake homeless carry weapons on the premises, but employees better not. Helping destroy lives through the power of work. Goodwill claimed to provide services to individuals which has raised concerns about the exploitation of social service programs. The narrative your reading here is what most Goodwill employees know, but will not say out load. This organization feeds on hypocracy. There is arrogance, ignorance, incompitance, jealously, greed and vanity everywhere. Goodwill preaches integrity, but has none. The best part of this organization is their willingness to provide court referral programs as volunteer work and they love free labor. You can lead a criminal to a job, but you can't make em work. This is cut throat retail at it's finest. People are streaming in and out from the door of broken dreams. Goodwill does not care about your honest assessment, management wants you to fall into place. They want robots because ignorance is bliss. The only experts in the Goodwill pricing game are cell phones and price points some hillbilly made up. The few real experts are the ones that chase the market value rates and those are subjective as well. If you see beautiful art work, it may be worth a higher value depending on Artist appeal and deposable income. The customer looks at the current price according to regular sales prices and expects a lower price based on the donation affect. Keep donating, shopping and working at Goodwill. There is always another desperate soul to be exploited. When truth taps their souls, they finally get it. This organization brags about 80 years in business. However the Goodwill's intended philosophy from the past has evolved today into a corrupted parasite of greed. Profits come from donations, merchandise sales, grants, sponsorships events, fundraisors and volunteer programs. Managers at each store run their own selffish budget. Less people, more bonuses at years end. Who's feeding these non profits, do you know where your money is really going to. It's not helping people who need a hand up? You needed a hand up so you thought Goodwill would help you? Whatever your mental status is, you'll realize your just another exploited worker. Goodwill's liberal hypocracy needs a major overhall on all levels. Remember if your one of these employees/managers/social workers exploiting other employees. karma will eventually tap your soul, you will pay your karmic debt. Is this the best Goodwill Industries has evolved into. Help me exploit others for monitary gain. Poor management structure, low wages, the criminal effect and unmanageable workloads. This chaotic system leads to unpredictable behavior that some people simply put in God's hands. This non profit never intended to build a stabile culture, they thrive on recycled employees. Situations go unnoticed until someone exposes it. Many other second hand stores are growing so Goodwill is starting to loose market share. Soon Goodwill stores will become landfill. I can't vouch for all the Goodwill's in America, but now you'll be able to see it in a sanctuary city like San Antonio, TX. Society doesn't want capitalism slipping into some kind of socialistic culture, believe me. My definition of integrity is an honest moral code encompassing many quality values missing in today's society. Simply put their quality actions match their words.
