Good shows by local theatre groups and Midland academy of dance and drama (MADD)

Excellent show "Sweet Charity" yet another stunning production. Always have a good experience, never just OK always superbly staged and acted.

Extremely expensive bar and snacks. Real shame for theatre lovers.

A smaller more personal venue, so feel closer to the action on the stage.

Used to come here as a kid for the panto so nice to return with my own. Panto wasnt that good but the Dame did really well. Good facilities although stupid people get in the way standing in the middle of circulation routes.

Went to see South Pacific musical by Mansfield Operatic society. They were fab. Theatre very comfortable and friendly staff.

Saw Enemy of the People here. Excellent play and superb cast. The seating is good, quite comfortable. Toilets very clean. The adjoining bar and restaurant serve food and drink at reasonable prices. Great outdoor seating. Sky mirror sculpture and water feature really make the outside area interesting and visually stunning to look at.

Good medium sized theatre. Staff are very friendly and helpful. As usual at theatres the food and drink are slightly expensive.

Daw Mark Steel here last night. Lovely mid sized venue. Great access, and plenty of parking nearby.

Mark Gatiss was brilliant in the Madness of King George, as was the rest of the cast. The Playhouse is a great theatre, I would definitely recommend it

My first visit to the playhouse was a great. The bar was very busy and the staff were amazing at dealing with the intermission rush. The only thing that let the venue down was the toilets, tiny facilities that were massively over subscribed.

Would happily revisit.

Had difficulties hearing the dialogue, I am a little hard of hearing but be aware if you are a sufferer as the amplification is only light. However a lot of other people were really enjoying an excellent production.

Great theatre with great productions all year round with friendly staff. Always our first choice for the pantomime at Christmas!

Visit most years to watch the Christmas panto and it is amazing and hilarious, deffo worth a watch!

The best of Nottingham's venues with a more intimate feel

Wouldn't miss the Playhouse Panto.. Some good events during the year. Always something for most tastes.

I love going here, its not to big and you can always see the stage where ever you sit

This place is beautiful alot of steps to go up and down but the staff are very nice and helpful. Would recommend this place to anyone and not just for the course we did.

First time seeing a production of Skellig. Absolutely fantastic and such an engaged audience. It was heart-warming to see the story acted out on stage with such emotion and enthralling both young and old alike as we watched eagerly.
So proud to be able to see such highly skilled and entertaining theatre on my door step. Another Playhouse success.

Smaller than you'd expect but perfectly proportioned! We saw Sting's The Last Ship there and we're overwhelmed, so close to the actors. Recommended!

My husband and I went to see Henning Wehn, a German comedian a couple of weeks ago. Tickets bought as a present from our daughter, very excited to go. He started the show a little late, even though we had all managed to get there on time and then for the next 30 mins took the mick out the Brits saying we are unwelcoming, stupid, lazy and nothing works. There is a fine line for taking the mick but I wanted to shout "if you hate it so much here, go back to your own country and flipping stay there". He also discovered another German in the audience and proceeded to have a conversation with him for almost 10 mins in German. How rude. Is that what our ticket paid for, to be left out the loop and laughed about. The only bit I did gleem from their conversation was that the other chap had lived here for 27 years, almost by mistake. They obviously should keep each other company on the trip back! We decided we could not stomach anymore of his drivel and left in the interim. The 2 star rating I have given to this review is for the venue being easy to access and the parking was adequate too, quite cheap for the evening thank goodness, not too much change wasted! Mrs Clark.

It's just a good night out and to see friends and catch up

Excellent venue, very posh and looks newly built. We went to see Tim Vine, the show was excellent, the seating comfortable and the acoustics very good. No hesitation about visiting again.

Very enjoyable panto - Sleeping Beauty- last night!

Really nice theatre, my only complaint is that the seats are very low backed and for someone over 6ft they were not very comfy.

Really great place to visit .. Modern but with a twist . Wide variety of plays on show.

Friday October 21st:
Reggae star from back in the day - Lloyd Brown and The Riddimworks Band. Really good night.

A great tradition in theatre. Went to see Tommy without a hitch. Easy parking on the street. 6-8pm only a pound and ticket runs to 8 am next day.

Great theatre which manages to remain friendly and intimate.

Fantastic pantomime the best in the area well worth a visit

Lovely place to watch a show or grab a coffee and a nice cake.

Went to the Madness of George III. A stunning performance, an excellent theater.

An amazing cultural resource that we should cherish. The range of performance is amazing - from comedy and panto to experimental and debut drama. Every one is at a phenomenal standard and I feel so lucky to be able to come here often. On the downside, the restaurant service and food is patchy, but that would never stop me from going (and it shouldn't stop you either). Each year's programme is so varied, there will be something for everyone. Oh yes there will!

First time I've been to this place and I will return!

This charity run, council supported theatre is brilliant. We have been to several comedy events from well known comedians here, as well as the annual pantomime which is the best in the city.

Great evening, seeing fantastic play to full house. Only slight mutter-they never have enough bar staff. Took the entire interval to get a drink.

Thoroughly enjoyed our first nottingham playhouse panto experience and the customer service that came with the slight muck up (ours, not the playhouse) was superb. Well done!

Nice venue. Very long wait at the bar before the show though! That's to be expected of course but what was frustrating is I couldn't see what they had in the fridges beforehand so despite waiting had to make a snap decision!

Staff are really helpful and thoughtful, especially with disabled and elderly. Facilities are comfortable and welcoming. Situated in a lovely area of nottingham surrounded by beautiful old victorian buildings

Went to see my granddaughter dancing on stage. Second time at this venue. There's plenty of car parking at the multi-storie close to the theatre. Nice medium sized theatre with a large variety of shows.

Always excellent. 1st class venue. Great bar and restaurant with Al fresco eating area. One of Nottinghams landmarks.
