Great source for all things music. The staff is knowledgeable and very helpful. My family has purchased many items from NW Music Center for personal use plus I'm a teacher and they have been extremely helpful keeping us in strings and picks for my guitar class at Lakes Middle School. Highly recommend this company.

One star is too many. I realized after opening the package that I accidentally bought 12-string guitar strings. When I tried to exchange them for the more suitable 6 strings, I was told that once they were open, the sale is final. Speaking of final, that was my last purchase at this store. Tony Cox
PS-- Having no use for the strings, I donated them to the store.
Always impressed with the customer service at this store! We rushed in this afternoon to get some repairs done so our kids could continue to practice while school is closed. Even though it must have been a hectic day for them (they just found out they d have to close, too), they were able to take care of us on the spot and get our kids instruments fixed. We really appreciated it!
This place is by far the most friendly and most knowledgeable shop I have seen . The guy behind the counter is just straight up a cool guy .. I do plan on buying from them for sure .. they have awesome instruments and they do layaway !!. How cool is that ?!. Oh and they give lessons .. 5 star for sure !!.
When I went there I wanted a nice sax. So they pulled out a Vito no name sax. Then the yamaha sax was $300 cheaper than the no name. Their staff was really weird too. Don't spend your money on this company, just go to Discount music supply
Was greeted when entered the store got what we needed stood in line cashier started helping us we had a couple questions we were asking cashier completely dropped helping us in the middle of our conversation he took another customer and ignored us helped other customer started talking to us again pushed us aside and rang up another customer I had to ask if I could pay for my things now he replied the other guy was waiting patiently the cashier was very rude.
NWMA has proved to be an excellent choice in music education for my children ages 9, 11 and 14. In the 18 months of attending both class and private lessons, my children have grown tremendously in their knowledge of music theory, sight reading, ear training and technical skill. Many thanks to the great team of music educators at Northwest who truly love music and those they teach.
Never again will i rent here!!!! Very rude people running the counter and won't take a cash payment!!! Thus place is not one I would recommend to anyone. Very sad
We ve purchased all the lesson books for our daughters piano lessons, as well as assorted percussion accessories. They are very professional and always have a good selection of books and stuff. Glad we have a good LOCAL music store in town.
Seems they still haven't figured out their customer service skills. Lots of negative reviews on here and apologies from Northwest from months ago. I also would not reccomend Northwest Music. They told me twice they were busy and that's why my instruments were taking so long for repairs, and couldn't even give me a date or time when they expected them to be finished, even after having my instruments for 4 days. I told them I was coming to get them and taking my business elsewhere. Only then, after I decided to pick up my instruments that hadn't been worked on yet did they start to work on them. This is my absolute last resort music store in town.
great staff here. They allways treat me and everyone. Great. Guitar center needs some lessons from these guys IMO I come in check out gear and always have the very best experience here. Plan on buying some gear from them soon. Thanks for your great additude and service I will always come to your store for strings picks amps and. If they don't have it they can prob still hook you up. With a great deal.
Our daughter (8) has taken group piano lessons for 2 years and our son (6) recently started and they are loving it! The instructors are knowledgeable and professional and, as a musician myself, have been impressed at the way they make technical theory relevant and understandable for the young people. I am continually impressed at the growth my children show week after week and am thankful for the team at NW Academy of Music for the opportunity!
Great range of instruments. Instructors are personable, and motivating. My son is excited about how much he has learned. He has added so much to his skills and confidence. Very thankful.
Been searching for a plane to install a pick up on my ukulele. Called several spots though only Matt at NMC picked up the phone! Very knowledgeable and friendly which is exactly what I'm looking for! I will travel three hours from where I live to go to someone I trust! This was over the phone!
Im furious with the service here. I understand that a business needs to make money. But the manager there a young man, tried to upsale me on everything. And I was shopping as a newcomer to the instrument I was there for. So it seemed a little not nice to me. Then I get to the counter and a different young man is ringing me up and my price comes out to much more then the items were explained to me. And unless I said something the Young man wouldn't have thought twice. So I bring it up and he figures out that it had been misslabled. And was 15 dollars more then the sticker price. The manager asked the other gentelmen what the cost price was for the item as if he were going to give me that price. Saw it on the computer and said let's see what else we have back here. And went back and got me a cheap version so that my price would match. I wanted so badly to tell the manager that I wanted the sticker price as it was not my fault that it was posted that way and that I was explained to that it was that price. And that it's very bad business to instead of make it right, to just downgrade my product to match the price... I'm furious. And I hope who ever the owner is sees this and has a talk with their employees. I'm sorry to the owner that I leave this review you probably would have done the right thing.
Northwest Academy of Music has provided such a thorough, well-rounded musical education for my siblings. Their understanding and love for music and music theory has increased greatly since joining classes and starting private lessons at NWAM.
Goodness this place is AMAZING!! The Gentlemen are so amazing and helpful there. Tune, fix, sell instruments. Prices are very reasonable. For sure will be returning in the future for all our music interests. If I could rate the place higher then 5 stars I would rate them 100%.
I've been doing business here for over 20 years. The owners and staff have always provided great service, and go out of their way to compete with pricing. Almost any conceivable music accessory is in stock. My children attended the Academy classes, which were always fun and of great value.
I have worked at this place and it was a joy and honor. I highly regard all instructors teaching here, and hope that the Northwest Academy of Music continues to give its students the love of making music for all their lives.
I went to Northwest Music Center looking for a specific Yamaha keyboard. That model was unavailable so the salesman recommended a DGX-660. He patiently answered all my question. While the DGX-660 would likely do what I had in mind, I wasn t quite sure. I asked about the YDP models and, again, he patiently answered my questions.
At this point I started asking questions relating to my past experiences of playing a real piano with the feel of those keys and that I was looking for my first keyboard to replace a real piano.
The salesman got one of their music instructors with a lot of experience with pianos and keyboards to talk to me. She quickly understood my prior experiences with pianos and the type of music I was interested in and steered me specifically to the YDP-163 model. There was no high-pressure sales tactics; just honest information and options to help me get what would make me happy. They offered to dismantle the floor unit to fit in my SUV and also gave me the option to buy a new in the box.
Based on the excellent suggestions from taking the time to patiently answer all my questions, I bought the Yamaha YDP-163 on the spot. It was priced higher than what I had originally came in for but what I came in for would not have matched what I needed and I would not have been happy down the road. The salesman and the music teacher helped match the equipment to my experiences, style, and expectations. The price was fair and worth the features I needed.
I got the box home. Assembly was quick and easy. I plugged it in and started playing. I couldn t be happier. Northwest Music Center gave excellent customer support along with their time and patience to sell me exactly what I needed. I highly recommend Northwest Music Center for their quality instruments and exceptional customer service.
I made a fair offer on a vintage guitar and was told that their price was well within blue book value. When I produced a screenshot of the blue book value, showing that their asking price was more than double the market value, they got really nasty with me and said they wouldn't communicate with me anymore.
This tells me that they don't want to offer instruments at a fair price, they only want to rip you off.
I came here to find quite a few negative reviews. It all makes sense now.
Do your homework before dealing with them, these folks are amateurs, and they lash out like children when you inadvertently point that out.
***They responded saying I offered them a trade, which is true, but they never responded to that offer. The offer that they did respond to was a cash offer within the blue book range for that particular guitar in the described condition
*****As you can see in the screenshots below, no abusive language tainted their little ears prior to them having their tantrum.
The guitar is a mahogany back and sides 1-18 that needs a neck reset and bridge work. They have it listed on reverb for $3400. The blue book value for the rosewood version in excellent condition is $3050-3600, and in average condition $1525-1900.
But they don't have the rosewood version.
The mahogany version, according to guitar blue book is valued at $2200-2750 in excellent condition, and $1325-1650 in average condition.
They are selling the mahogany model that's in need of a neck reset and bridge work. They have it listed as being in fair condition.
So either they're not smart enough to understand the blue book, or they are intentionally misleading people.
I can only review the store in terms of the musical lessons. My daughter signed up for lessons and was given a start date of a month out. We showed up for the first lesson but there was no instructor. The front desk called the instructor who was on his way in for the appointment after ours. I was told I had to wait for the instructor to arrive before rescheduling. I accepted that there is a paperwork mix-up and rescheduled for the next week. Appointment attempt number two went fine. The instructor was on time and my daughter appreciated his efforts. However, lesson attempt number 3, resulted in no instructor again. This time I talk to the manager and she was slightly apologetic. Though I had emailed with the instructor previously, she claimed they could not contact me because they did not have a phone number. After a 66% no no-show rating I decided I'd had enough with the place. Your results may differ, and I hope they do. I have no doubt that if I would have missed appointments I still would have been billed for the time. But they had no respect for my time.
Buyer Beware! Do not use this place when buying instruments. Purchased a cello that they claimed was solid wood. Spent over $1K on it. When the cello neck snapped less than a year after purchase, the repair man informed me it was laminate and not worth more than $400.
Guys! If ever you are in need of assistance regarding a musical instrument please go see them! Their customer service is above and beyond. I called to let them know I had an instrument that needed a repair/maintenance. The young man on the phone informed me that they close in five minutes, but that he would wait for my arrival. I arrived one minute before they closed, yet he was patient, calm, and understanding. Indeed I will be returning to them again. Not just to pick up our instrument, of course, but because their service and kindness did not go unnoticed.
