Several years ago I was looking to find an activity to bond with my two boys. I was 56 and did not think I could handle karate but signed up anyway. Northern Colorado Karate is a fun family environment with excellent instructors. I highly recommend this school to anyone.

Can't recommend this school enough! We started our oldest son here when he was 4 and a year later, when our 2nd son was old enough, my husband and I decided to sign up as well. They are awesome with the kids - my boys are always excited to go. I love that they also encourage good habits and attitudes in all areas of their life. The instructors are all very knowledgeable and friendly. Highly recommended for all ages!

Great school for self defense, discipline, respect, and motivation in a family friendly environment. I am proud to have gone through their program and have earned my blackbelt. Mr Schuett is a fantastically knowledgeable martial artist and a great sensei.

This school is absolutely awesome!!! The instructors are extremely knowledgeable, fun, and helpful. The atmosphere is very friendly, and they also have a wide variety of classes for all ages. I do wish they focused a little more on sparring, but overall, I would highly recommend it!

Well although this will be torn up by the Kenpo Trolls I would like to just point out a few things. First off "real" and "correct" are terms used as a manipulation technique. Clearly these reviews were posted by disgruntled former employees and competitors. Going so far as to not even have google acounts anymore showing they only had google accounts in order to post these reviews. Once Grand Master Parker died there was a splinter in the the Kenpo world with many people claiming the one true Kenpo. It's a marketing strategy, every master I have ever had the privilege of meeting has been an elemental force unto themselves though they will point to the other and say they are more legitimate then the next master. We are American Kenpo and wear Grand Master Parker's patch because we have linage directly to Grand Master Parker. My Father, Keith Schuett, trained with Prof Rick Hughes who promoted him to third degree. In Kenpo this is the rank of the system in which it signifies proficiency in the complete system. Prof Hughes trained with Grand Master Parker from 1980-1990 and received his fifth from Grand Master Parker. Now before and after this point my father trained with Prof Robert Austin in International Kenpo Karate Jujitsu which is a splinter of American Kenpo. Here is the rub. My father believes in making the system accessible to everyone. That means lowering the standards for those that need it and not worrying about every student being a fighter. This is counter to the elitist view that was and is still common in martial arts in which you beat the students till they quit and promote the ones that stay. Does this make good fighters? It definitely does. Does this make good people or good schools? I would say not always. Professor Austin owns two schools and has been in business 25 years, my father has been in business in the same location since 1999.
Furthermore my brother and I are both in law enforcement and spent the majority of our time working as detention deputies in a corrections facility. I personally have used Kenpo to prevent assaults and defend myself and others professionally. I like reviews sites like this but in an industry where there is so much noise, I strongly urge the customer to meet the people because in martial arts there are a lot of great arts but what you're really buying is the teacher and community.
