Staithes - wouldn't put it down in my top 10 places to visit. Beaches...why? It's where dirt meets water (bill hicks) small not too crowded, cars restricted but then car park expensive- good idea to make money. Walk down to formerly quaint village but run down thanks to EU fishing quotas. Fishing fleet about 4 boats made the place looks very sad. Lots of small depressing coffee shops. Like a mini Scarborough or whitby... needs money investing. Place not for me.

Fantastic at any time of the year, whatever the weather. Great walking country. Picturesque little villages and some more well known such as Goathland, Grosmont and Pickering accessable by the North Yorkshire Moors Railway. Finest fish and chips anywhere in the country. Lots is amazing wildlife and birds, this place has its own little eco system.

Camped for one night, reasonably priced, facilities are good. Felt very comfortable allowing the children to play freely as no vehicles allowed on site. Loved the game keepers cottage, looks amazing.

I interweave a walk in the Park with the NYMR steam gala weekend, trying to time my arrival at the various railway viewpoints between Grosmont and Moor Crossing with that of the steam powered trains. This, combined with a visit to the Birch Hall Inn at Beck Hole, makes a great day out which culminates at Goathland where I catch the train back to Grosmont.

This is one of Britain's hidden gems. There is a range of fantastic scenery, walks, cycle rides and facilities.
I would recommend that anyone with a love of the British countryside should go there at least once - we will be going back!

What an awesome place to go for a trek/walk on a bright Autumn day
The foliage around the little reservoir besides Osmotherley is as good as New England's and the heather on the way is awash with autumnal colour.
Even better to bring along your dogs as they can roam free and quite safely. Other seasons of the year also BRI g their individuality as this is a constant changi g landscape
