Wrost customer service ever im pregnant and I was at adult emergency on july 13, they send me to 3rd floor and the first nurse that attend me said: you should go to your hospital we dont have your records here, but even if they dont have it they should give me attention, then she called another nurse and she was better, and the physician was quick and didnt explain anything of what she did or what I had! Bad service!!
Took forever to get through and staff seemed annoyed when we asked how long we would stay
Interventional radiology Doctor was negligent and my procedure was badly messed up. I ended up with four months of unnecessary anxiety and suffering. I would not recommend the hospital.
My sister was transferred to this hospital and admitted in ICU for about 3 days. I could not be happier with the care she received. The nurses and doctors in that department really showed compassion for my sister and took amazing care of her. She was sent home yesterday and is still talking about Lana, and how much she appreciated her. Being in this hospital took a huge weight off my families shoulders, knowing my sister was in good hands. Thank you!
Absolutely disgusting. My father had a to spend 24 hours on a small stretcher in a crowded hallway waiting for a room. We were told over and over that no rooms were available. Finally when we got a room, it was a room for 4 patients and 3 of the other beds were all empty. I walked the hall and there were numerous open beds. In addition once they said we had a room it took transport an hour to bring us up. The, i needed a bathroom. There is one bathroom on the floor for non-patients. I went to use it and there was puke all over the whole bathroom. I told the nurses station. I came back next day and it was still covered in puke.

I went their in emergency and the place was full. I had to wait 7 hours for my son's injury to be checked.
LIJ had always been the number 1 place for any of my family medical emergencies. But the last few visits have not only disappointed but disgusted me. It seemed like they have picked up staff from the streets with zero qualification. I've never been so disappointed. It's a shame.
Cleaned and organized hospital for a New York Facility, however definitely far from any hospital settings outside of the state or country. New York is lacking organization with hospital settings, and promptness for emergency situations. Aside for this, I was impressed with the meticulous care of the nurses and staff which helped answer my questions and concerns.
I agree with many who have noted that LIJ USED TO BE a great place!!!!!
My mother has been going there for years...due to her battling Congestive Heart Failure. But her past recent visits were Horrific!!!
My total DISGUST is too much to even write...however, when i send my letter to the powers that be I will include EVERYTHING & EVERY NAME that participated in the horrible experience my family and i recently had.
My mother passed away in their CCU, and i have many many complaints. Yes, this facility USED TO BE a good medical center.....NOT AT ALL THE SAME!!!!
North Shore Manhassett or St. Francis would be better choices.
I had a wonderful experience here. Everyone from my surgical team to my nursing team to dietary to security and everyone in between treated me with so much care and kindness. Everyone is knowledgeable and helpful. I want to give a very special Thanks TO MY overnight nurse SHIRLEY . TO the doctor that pulled my drain and put me in pain . maybe dont do that TO anyone else !!! Thanks To my surgeon Dr Frank he is awesome.
The doctors are extremely combative and if you have a procedure done and they cause a separate pain they don't tell you they did it nor take responsibility for it in my case I had one leg filled will clots so I couldn't add any pressure to my foot I now have 2 legs that I cannot use because of an incision that wasn't discussed with me before 1 of 5 procedures, the nurses have a high level of neglegence , they tell you no as well you have to basically look like what you say in order to be helped... For example I have a strange tolerance as far as pain so they asked me what's the rating 0 being low and 10 being the highest I said a 9 and though I was frowning and squinting for pain I didn't fit the look of a 9 to them I was denied all that matters here are the credentials.. youre not educated enough to tell them how you feel even it there's swelling and bruising in plain sight. They diagnosed me with a blood clot I fell and all AT THE HOSPITAL all they said was say sorry nobody took the time to pay attention to my pain and the foods horrible they give you a check list and still manage to give you a whole new order then you wait 40 mins to an HR for them to correct it if it's even corrected this is literally the worst hospitals to be admitted in I'd go to another one a town over , 2 towns over, w excruciating pain before I come here again THE PCA'S ARE PERFECT and maybe like 2 RNs the photo contains "dinner" turkey with gravy, sweet potatoes and asparagus bon appetit :)

The service at this hospital suck. This is a Jewish hospital and could not get a circumcision for my son. I practically begged them and they refused.
Great hospital and will provide some of the best care I seen in any facility I been to. Staff is attentive and accommodating. Hospital is very huge and broken up in different sections.
I took my daughter there , but theg found no cure. They are very good at collecting money
I have, unfortunately, had a very bad 2019 healthwise. I had a procedure performed in an LIJ facility back in 2019, and then had to have other procedures performed in various other facilities throughout the year, for which I have received numerous bills. I have made payment plans with every one of these facilities, including LIJ, or so I thought. I just received a threatening letter from LIJ regarding an outstanding bill. I had no recollection of this bill. When I called customer service I was told that I cancelled automatic payments. That's when I remembered. Yes, I told the girl I was speaking to, when I was setting up payments, that I did not want them taking money out directly, that I wanted to pay the bill myself. I am not comfrotable someone having "control" over my account. She advised me that I would receive e-mail reminders. Obviously, I never received these reminders, but I did receive their threatening letter. I will try my best not to be treated at any more Northwell Health facilities. They don't care about patients, they just care about their money. I will make this payment, in full, and hopefully have nothing more to do with Northwell. Wish I could give less than one star.
Complete joke of a hospital. Go anywhere else but here. We were told ortho is on their way down over 2 hours ago. When we asked a nurse how much longer we were told she doesnt know and only a doctor can call them and she needs to wait for a doctor to pass by to ask them. Had to repeatedly tell them that we were already registered into the system, we were told that our insurance was expired, the woman had the audacity to tell us that we need to check ourselves first. She entered the information again to only come back with an attitude after realizing she entered it wrong. I wouldnt send my worst enemy to this hospital. Save yourself hours and hours of anger and frustration and go anywhere else.
I've been here twice; to the ER and I was seen almost immediately and got the best care ever. Really great people. The second time was to have my baby. It was the best ever at the Katz building. It's like a luxury hotel for new moms. The nurses are soooo nice and everything is so clean. If you're having a baby go here it's the best. The pictures aren't lying. Beautiful. I wanted to stay longer. They even let you have a guest stay because the rooms are private.

Horrible experience on Telemetry unit. Never found cause of fevers and rushing to push out the door for Easter Holiday. Overheard a nurse say, " hope they all get the hell out", when referring to a patient (elderly woman) being discharged!
Waited 9 HOURS to be seen with a torn tendon. Doctor came for maybe 2 minutes. turns out i needed an MRI right away as i had a complete tear which they mis-diagnosed as partial tear. Because of this i couldn't safely have surgery because reopening the wound could cause infection. And at one point i was simply waiting for them to come with my discharge papers which they took maybe an hour with so i decided to get on my crutches and walk out, THEN they came running with my papers instantly. Pathetic. I now walk with a limp. Oh and my trip cost $1000. Great Day

1 Star is even to much of a rating for this place. I couldn t tell the difference was my mom a paitent in Flushing, Elmhurst, or LIJ hospital. People talk about how horrible Flushing and Elmhurst hospitals are but the experience of LIJ the last two days was less than sub par of any of those hospitals. Maybe LIJ excels in their Maternal unit, but anything after that they fail. When I first saw my mom I know she had a major surgery but she looked horrible, not sure what the anesthesiologist did but she was bruised in multiple places on her arm that anyone who saw her (nurse and doctor) said what happened here?! . Not only does she have multiple 10 inch bruises on her forearm and next to her armpit but her lip was swollen like she was punched in the face where she s lost feeling in her mouth even two days after the surgery. The nurses we encountered had terrible bedside manner my mom coming out of surgery into the recovery room and having commands barked at her with attitude. I m sorry you may hate your job, and I know it s a tough job, but I don t know where you had your training from I think these nurses have to go back and find their manners again. Ask them for something and they forget well when my mom hasn t been given anything to eat in a 24 hour period and she just asked for something small and another two hours passes she has to buzz you again and you walk in the room with an attitude and say I forgot . Well one day when you re a paitent and you ask your nurse for something and they forget hopefully that will teach you something nursing school maybe forgot. The only positive workers I met and actually seemed to care were the transportation workers. They made sure they didn t go so fast and were easy when there was a bump on the floor to not hurt my mom moving her from recovery to her hospital room. But the best part is how there so concerned with how after such a surgery you shouldn t be left alone and you re not allowed to drive home the person that took her downstairs to wait for me to get my car just basically dropped her off and left without any supervision and no help to get her into my car. I don t know what happened to this hospital, I m also not sure what happened to common decency, but if you re gonna need to have a surgery I wouldn t recommend this facility and I did speak to others who had horror stories from this place and will never return. I can for one say we will be avoiding this hospital like the plague. And the nurses were so concerned about us filling out a survey of how we were treated well to bad they didn t act like they wanted a good review.
Literally the worst medical experience I have ever had. These folks engage in clear and blatant medical billing fraud. I had my eye examined at the ER after I was hit by a stray ball, and was billed $806 by the doctor for a 15 minute flashlight exam while sitting on a chair, and $2004 for "ancillary services." What, the two ice packs you gave me cost a grand each? I have had two surgeries that cost less than this. When I tried to speak to the billing department to understand what "ancillary charges" mean, I was put on hold for 45 minutes only to have the phone answered by the "message department" where you give a person your name and callback number. So basically I waited 45 minutes to leave the equivalent of a voicemail. When someone called me back the next day, they refused to answer my questions and HUNG UP on me.
STAY AWAY. THESE FOLKS ARE CROOKS, plain and simple. I will be filing a complaint with the BBB.
The nurses are sweet especially one nurse name Shira. As are the gurney transporters are , and most doctors. However, the wait time is absolutely unacceptable this is atrocious my grandma has been waiting here for over 8 or 9 hours now , while exhausted and waiting I was reprimanded by an aid for having my feet on the chair , I began to apologize and tell her I'm just tired from waiting she went back at it, this is how you talk to a family member of a patient , horrendous customer service.
This use to be an amazing hospital. Now it's horrible. Constantly understaffed. The doctors are rude. And don't expect them to take your IV out when they discahatged you hours and hours later !! Btw this is the second time it's happened. First time I had to remind them to take my husbands IV out and the dr seemed like it was beneath him. This time I couldn't go with my husband and he came home and realized it was still in. Good job lij. I have pics but unfortunately can't upload them

My 1.5 years old son is having a surgery today. Every doctor and nurse has been very professional kind and respectful. In the waiting area there's a clerk offering everyone free snacks.

I went to the emergency dept of Long Island Jewish Medical Center. Administration service is very greedy like to take sign in paper. Doctor Service is very poor.
If I can give this hospital a 0 I would. They need to fix up there system on how to attend to patients. Yesterday I got there 6:30 pm and didn t leave out of there till 1:30am they took for ever to come see me. I had to go up to the front desk and ask the staff what s going on why I haven t been seen? They had me in a room for over 2 hours and no one ever came to see me . Once I said something doctors started to come they assumed I had the flue they then sent me to X ray never got seen . 2 people came after me the were seen that s when I lost my patients . Then I asked the lady that works there why is it taking so long ? Her response was that the doctor didn t put the x ray order. Which makes no sense cuz the doctor was the one that walked me to the x ray room. Make the long story short never got the x rays done the doctor comes to tell me they can t do it cuz the pregnancy test came back positive. Now they have me waiting 2 hours more for blood work to be done. And 3 hours to get the results to confirm pregnancy. I will never in my life come here again . I rather go to Jamaica hospital or NY presperterian in the city. This place will let u die waiting. They didn t even give me a IV and I had a high feaver body acs throwing up all day. DO NOT WAST YOUR TIME COMING TO THIS SHIT HALL!!!!!!!!

My stay as an critically injured patient in this particular hospital was nothing but sufficient and efficient in every aspect with the upmost professionalism and respect a patient can endure. From Doctors aswell as the nursing staff and housekeeping to the food service industry shown nothing but care and concern and much respect. This professionalism went throughout all shifts around the clock. So i thank all members who made me feel comfortable as my needs were met to the fullest. Again i thank you all who i have also made friends with while there. So big thumbs up to Long Island Jewish Medical Center for making md feel welcome.
Waited over 4 hours in pain. Had a horrible experience. Wouldn t let this hospital treat an animal. I feel so sorry for elderly rookie who ever make the mistake of going to this hospital
Ridiculous!!! Overflowing Open litter bin in the room. Inspite of repeated requests had to wait more than an hour to get it cleaned.

Nurse was unreasonably rude and the wait time was ridiculous (2+ hours) just sitting in the waiting room after registering. Took this visit as a learning experience - where NOT to go for the next emergency that may arise.
I was brought to the ER three years ago after experiencing a seizure and was treated okay. Nurses were caring but didn't get to speak to the doctor as much. Food could use improvement and facility could use a cleaning.
I had the best experience at the hospital nurses & doctors was so nice to me took good care of me while I was in labor & after I gave birth always checking up on me private rooms & clean
went to an appt for my child's eeg which was previously set up and no tech showed up. We drove 45 min. for 9am appt. and waited over an hour to be told there is no one to give my child an EEG. Who runs a hospital like this?
Dont know if it's one of their policies or do they inject kindness, respectful, helpful, professional, serum into each one of their employees. From the medical staff, maintenance, security, down to the staff manning the shops in the lobby. I live in Williamsburg Brooklyn, but I will always bring not only my love ones but myself to this hospital in order to get care for .
