Saw a nun get in a Prius and I KNEW I was in the right place
Phillip Mann conducting the music of Star Wars was fantastic and evoked memories of a long time ago... in a place far, far away.
Arkansas Symphony Orchestra is a treasure. My daughter, sister, and I attended a socially distanced outdoor performance of the ASO brass quintet that was pretty close to magical, from the gorgeous location outside Byrne Hall on a crisp, moonlit evening, to the stellar performance of a variety of brass pieces that included some holiday favorites.
Add to this the fact that ASO has been a ridiculously welcome source of sonic beauty and art during this pandemic, with live streamed special performances and regular streaming features like Bedtime with Bach, and it becomes pretty impossible to argue against the value that ASO adds to the local area and the musical world.
We just left Giants of Broadway....wow and wow. 5 stars is not enough. The orchestra nailed all the music composers and the vocalist made me cry because the music was so beautiful.
