I couldn't recommend this place more for a really special night out! We had a wonderful birthday dinner here on a quiet Monday evening in the middle of winter. Had the place completely to ourselves! Loved it like that got to sit anywhere we wanted and had our own personal waiter (Jay - he was great). We chose a window table downstairs by the fireplace with a view over the vineyards perfect. The food was delicious couldn't fault a thing. Just too bad we ate so much of that yummy, fresh homemade bread as not only could we not finish our main courses but we had no room for dessert. Boooo. But good excuse to come back again! ;-)

Friends and I visited North 42 this Saturday and just wanted to give a big thank you to all of the staff. It was organized, all of the staff was so kind and managed tastings so everyone felt safe and taken care of personally. We had our tasting outdoors with Monica who was knowledgeable, and had such an awesome personality. I don t leave reviews often but felt this one felt very necessary. Keep up the great work and thank you for a great day.
Very disappointed with the food we had when we did the golf and wine night. The burgers were half the size of the bun. The cost of the portion of the meal was way too expensive for the food you got. The owner did not seem to care or do anything for us. He said he needed to make money which I understand but $35.00 for a burger meal, potatoe salad, tossed salad and ice cream and wine tasting and the people were not even there to taste the wine. The owner asked for my email and said he would get back to me but we have heard nothing and this was 2 weeks ago. Will never go back!
Stopped in here on a winery tour on a September Saturday. The space is absolutely gorgeous, spacious, modern and full of windows. The woman at the tasting bar was nice and knowledgeable but the place was so packed it was deafening. The experience was majorly lacking for me for that reason.
Thy have some really cool events, a restaurant and a gift shop. Also lavender fields. If you come here, try to go during a slow time so you can actually enjoy your experience.
Waited for over 20 minutes once we were seated for waitress to offer water, it was like we were invisible. Food was ok, view was better.. suggestions? Well just get your staff to acknowledge once customer sits down at table that you exist. On a high note waitress that finally served us was excellent, she made up for the wait at least..
Feeling conflicted. Lavender or wine. Lavender permeates their tasting room and even their Cabernet Sauvignon. Not my favorite cab in the area. Nice spot though.
Just came back from dinner. What a great night. I opted for a few small plates insteas of dinner and everything I tried was meticulously crafted. If you're looking for a nice night out...bistro 42 is a must try.
Delicious flavourful finer dining. Modern design with rustic touches. Definitely a destination for a celebration or romantic meal. Looking forward to returning when the patios are open.
Our server was very rude, may have been having a bad day, but unacceptable to treat a guest poorly! Beef tips I ordered were uncooked and like rubber, I couldn't eat them. My two friends with me found their food equally unacceptable. I took the beef tips home and even my dog wouldn't eat them! Its a shame for such a beautiful place. I am a world traveler and know good food and how it should be cooked and served. This place is not one of them, I will not be back.
Last night we did take out and the food was absolutely wonderful! The wild mushroom tart, Gnocchi and the roasted red pepper soup tasted so fresh. We had to have the cheesecake too. Enjoyed it with the Cabernet Sauvignon rose (my favourite). Always a great time at North 42, looking forward to sitting on their patio!
Beautiful winery and lavender farm here. The staff was very learned on their products. Great tasting room and amazing views. Look forward to having a meal on our next visit as the chef I've heard is exceptional.
Horrible experience. We went with a group of 24 people. Waitress was not friendly. Food took forever. One couple didn t even get their meal and there was no apology. Would never go back there ever again!
We went on saturday for my daughters 21st birthday. We had a reservation for 7 people at 4 pm. We sat upstairs with a beautiful view of the vineyards. Beautiful building, kind, hospitable staff and amazing food!!! Will definately go back!
Not only do they have great wines (try the Gewurztraminer) but North 42 Degrees also has a Serenity Lavender Farm shop for wine tasters to peruse. From lavender sachets to soap and lavender themed gifts, the shop seemed to have everything. Great one-stop gift shop!
We love North 42 Estate Winery & Bistro. It is our go to place for a wonderful meal & excellent wine during normal times. As we live through this pandemic, North 42 has been a lifesaver. Thanks to the new chef, Cameron McDonald 's wonderful new weekly menus, we have been able to enjoy his fantastic meals with our favorite North 42 wines every week.
The wine and food were okay but very expensive. I didn't like that with the purchase of a charcuterie board and lunch they didn't absorb the five dollar cost of a wine tasting.
Went on a motorcycle ride; stopped there out of the blue for a late lunch! Just wow!!!!!! Absolutely best service, the wine was perfect, the food tasty and so well presented! This is definitely one of the best places in the area, and now my favorite.!!
Went back today! Always awesome. Always wonderful. The staff is super nice, the food is so we'll we'll prepared and fresh! And the wine!!!
Had a great experience here with a winetasting tour a private one that I organized. All staff I dealt with were very helpful and kind. As with all wineries on Lake Erie s North Shore, the staff were very knowledgable and outgoing. I didn t eat any of the food here but saw some of the meals others were eating- I will definitely come back and have a meal here!
We had a fabulous 12-course tapas meal with wine pairings in a wonderful high-ceilinged room over looking the vineyard. Food and service both excellent.
We visited for dinner a while ago and were underwhelmed with the food and unfriendly service, but decided to try again as we heard there was a new chef. I'm so glad we did! The food was delicious (try the mussels and shrimp carbonara) and our server Emma was fantastic. She made the perfect wine suggestions for our meal and was so friendly and attentive to us without being intrusive. We even took home a few bottles of the sauvignon blanc that we loved so much. We've already decided this will be our new date spot, and we will definitely be asking for Emma each time.
First time visiting North 42 Estate Winery. A very relaxing and beautiful place. My husband and I had the Calamari and Mussels for lunch accompanied with a glass of your Summer Chill and Dry Riesling. Enjoyed it so much we had to bring a few more bottles home Will definitely be coming back with our "amigos"!!
Had dinner and drinks as an attendee at a client appreciation night hosted by a financial advisor. Enjoyed their cab-sauv and an excellent dinner. Definitely recommend
Wonderfull experience as a destination or on a bit of a tasting tour. Beutiful functional facility for a group or just a romantic two. Great restaurant and wine bar with inside or outside service sporting 3 patio decks, refreshing music, amazing food and yes a wine selection for your temptation. Today, the Summer Chill was my favorite.
Over the moon to have found this place! The architecture is truly one of a kind. The views of the vineyard is absolutely breathtaking and as an added bonus there s beautiful lavender growing throughout. We had top-notch service for sampling wine. Each wine was full of flavour and depth. It was so great we came back another day to try the food and maximized our time on their gorgeous patio. This winery will exceed all your expectations!
Great ambiance and beautiful view for outside dining. Consider buying some lavender short bread cookies or lavender products from the store. Wine is fantastic!
How disappointing!!! We came back here on a wine tour about 3 wks ago.. we first visited this establishment a few years back when the tasting was literally under some stairs in an old building .. But the service was good and the wine was ok.. Well we have been hearing such great things from our friends we decided to give it another shot. The upgrades to the buildings are amazing.. The view from the restaurant spectacular. We had a great lady at the bar for the tasting (wish I could remember her name- short spiky hair super friendly) everyone was having fun until one of the corks got stuck!! She was struggling so one of the other tasters offered to help.. She let him (admittedly probably shouldn't have however there was zero other staff around and the bar was packed) well ."Michael" one of the staff yelled at her infront of everyone - "what's wrong with you you NEVER let a guest touch the wine" (at this point everyone is starting to get uncomfortable- the gentleman apologized saying he was only trying to help.. He would buy that bottle) Michael wouldnt even acknowledge him- he proceded to "scold " the lady infront of everyone.. I left in search of a manager and finally found one and explained what happened - she didnt seem to care! I returned to the bar and the poor lady was clearly embarrassed she apologized to everyone and tried to keep the atmosphere cheery but it was too late.. And then HE CAME BACK AGAIN TO YELL AT HER!! He told her to "turn around " so he could address her- now everyone at the bar was agitated- so I simply asked for his name - which he reluctantly told me- and I told him that was quite enough! I asked him if he was a manager- no- a supervisor- no "just a fellow co-worker" yes!!! I proceeded to tell him he just lost this establishment a lot of money because no one from our group or the other party would be purchasing anything! I then found Shelley the "other or actual I'm still not sure" manager and told her that he came back again and how umprofessional he was! Even if she shouldnt have let that man help her how dare he act like that in front of all these customers! She had the decency to apologize but I do not believe she ever spoke with him.. Needless to say this is not a stop our wine group will ever make again and ive told all of our co workers about our awful experience! How embarrassing... Esp when you can see that they have put a lot of money into the "bistro" area$!!
Absolutely loved it here! Atmosphere is relaxing, beautiful and welcoming. Staff were so knowledgeable and kind. Our experience is definitely worth repeating! See you again soon :)
We went to North 42 last weekend for a wine tasting. We sat outside at the picnic tables, and we were seated right away. We did not have a reservation and they were very accommodating to us, but spots quickly filled up, so I highly recommend you make a reservation.
At the picnic tables, only wine tastings are served (no food or charcuterie boards, etc.) The restaurant is inside the winery upstairs, and looked nice but we didn't get to go.. You need a reservation..
We enjoyed their wines and Kerri, our waitress was very knowledgeable about the history of the wines, what they pair with, the grapes, etc. I highly recommend their sparkling sauvignon blanc. So good
North 42 is owned by the same family as CREW next door (brothers). I still prefer CREW between the two of them but North 42 was a nice experience as well.
extremely expensive, expect a large bill... only place that does cheese separate on their charcuterie boards on their charcuterie board expect only 3 types of meat, and 3 types of cheese, at other wineries their charcuterie boards are much more cheaper with a bigger variety of deli and cheeses. no fruit at this place. beautiful scenery, and beautiful inside
Top notch wine and anything from their late summer collection is fantastic. With the atmosphere and quality of the food and drink I'd recommend North 42 to anyone looking to spend a nice day out and about.
The young lady on the tasting bar doesn t seem to understand what s involved in helping customers who came for a wine tasting! This is supposed to be a fun and enjoyable experience, people don t come here to see your rude attitude. She didn t even bother using a fresh glass between white and red wines. If you don t enjoy what you re doing, maybe it s time to find something more enjoyable for yourself. The winery looks nice and modern, they might want to consider better attendants at the bar.
If you need to go to a winery in Essex county look no further. We were greeted by an amazing hostess, Lisa who made us laugh so hard. The wine was excellent and our server Emma B was very knowledgeable about all the different wines. Also advised us of a too die for cocktail. She was incredibly friendly, she was one of the best servers I have encountered. Highly recommend!!
The wines are very good. The food in the bistro is simply amazing! There is a great menu with a wide assortment of dishes. They are going to need a bigger building. They also accommodated a last minute walk in with a full house. Excellent service at the tasting bar and the bistro. Keep up the great work.
Great wines.. The owner was a lovely guy....he took a lot of time to explain things about growing vines and answer all my questions. I will be back, with friends, for sure.
Dinner tonight was fabulous! The beef and the chicken were both amazing. The mashed potatoes were fabulous. And the wine was excellent! This was an amazing take-out experience during this time. When things are back to a new normal, the dining room is beautifully appointed with painstaking attention to detail such as beautiful flatware and an amazing view. Highly recommended.
Thank you so much for the amazing take out dinner tonight. We enjoyed the roasted striploin and chorizo meatloaf along with some amazing side dishes. We had heard great things about the new Chef and he did not disappoint! We will definitely be ordering again! Whether you are from the area or visiting from afar, you have to check out Bistro 42 at North 42 Degrees Estate Winery.
We had our wedding this July at North 42. Steve was a fantastic host, and the food was really incredible. Nice wines. The wedding turned out to be really better than we could have expected, and it was a beautiful place to throw a celebration of any kind. Looking forward to going back and having dinner at the restaurant once it's open. Wishing all the best to Steve, and North 42 Degrees!
Rude and disrespectful. A group of us went on a wine tour to a bunch of wineries throughout the county. We were all very excited to try North 42 for tasting and lunch. As we arrived, a German male (wine maker) assisted us to the side of the bar for our tasting. Initially, we were trying to make small talk and be friendly but he was very stand-off and clearly didn t want to serve us. We asked if we could do half of us for a red tasting, half for white. He said no I will do all the same and on one bill . We explained that we would like to have a variety as we wanted to purchase wine on top of our tasting. He told me I m the wine maker, I know what I m doing and poured us all one glass of white (without our say of which wine and it was not good). After we asked for a second time if we could do half red half white he said no it s inconvenient for me . We asked to speak to a manager, he turned his back, helped another group and ignored us. For large groups looking to go to a wine tour, STAY AWAY. We felt very disrespected, unaccommodated, and hurt by the comments. I have been to several wineries and all have accommodated large group needs where 10 of us ordered different wines for each tasting and it was no issue. I was excited to try a new winery in which I ve never been and this left a horrible taste in our mouths (not just from the not so great wine). I would not recommend to any groups looking to go on a wine tour. Horrible service from this gentleman.
Came here for lunch on our wedding anniversary and thoroughly enjoyed it!! We had the scallops to start and gnocchi for main course. Scallops were amazing! Very tender and tasty! Sweet potato gnocchi was delicious! It had salmon, pickled red peppers, and asparagus in a Chardonnay cream sauce. Eating these separately was delicious but trying them all in one bite.... Not so much, lol. That being said, I'd order it again! She some bread to do in the sauce!! The service we received from Marie was very friendly and professional. The view is great, inside and out! Overall, fantastic experience and we look forward to coming back!
We went once when they had first opened and absolutely loved it. The view and the building are both breathtaking. We loved the gnocchi but, their menu has changed we were very disappointed with the food on our last visit.
I came to this winery with a group of 12 and we all had a great time. The service was top notch and we all came away feeling like we had the royal treatment. It s a beautiful building with incredible views of the vineyards. I ll be back soon for a date-night with my wife!
We came for dinner. Food was great. Service was great. The new building is beautiful. Can't wait to come back when the weather is nice to sit on the outdoor balcony. Very nice.
Food was amazing. Was there on May 4th for my boyfriend's aunt's wedding. The food was mouth watering. Staff was the best service ive ever had, sweet and friendly. Beautiful even though the lavender wasn't out and nor were the grapes.
This place had terrible service. Very nice venue but they really need to figure it out with there staff. Once they have a few more people working we will be back to try it.
Very good. Food was great and staffs are very kind and helpful. We had Cajun stuffed chicken and Okra soup and it was amazing! I loved their cornbread too.
Although I would like to rate this, unfortunately we never got served after waiting for 20 minutes. We had made reservations and asked to sit upstairs as we were told that this was the best view. We were informed that there was a large group upstairs and that it would be noisy. As we made our way upstairs the large party was actually a small banquet of what looked to be about 40 or so people. Why they did not close the upstairs to other tables is beyond me. We were seated and after 20 minutes of no one coming to the table, we decided to leave. We informed the general manager of our displeasure with this and will not return. We were looking forward to trying the Bistro out and instead were extremely disappointed We ended up stopping at Garfield's where we were had a great meal and a great time. Very disappointing.
We had the pleasure of having dinner at North42 last Friday. It was a last minute plan. But was a great experience Monika was amazing and the food too die for. The wine was really nice and the Manager also very friendly. Will definitely be one of our favorites and recommend it . The room was very nice and view amazing
Made a reservation online, North 42 confirmed but when I arrived they did not have my name. There were lots of people and the hostess was very dismissive so I left, but as soon as I checked my email I confirmed that I indeed have a reservation. Very disappointed.
