Worst experience ever. If you're coming in from overseas DO NOT fly into this airport. Global Entry and Mobile Passport are worthless here! Connecting flights are being missed and they could careless. Absurd back ups at customs and the agents are taking 10-15 min per person and the wait is literally hours. Nightmare!! Alaska is no better. Telling us it will cost us to re-book and there are no more flights until tomorrow. And this was what Alaska called a direct flight to Seattle. I'd give ZERO stars if I could!
Today at San Jose airport I was chosen for a random TSA search and patdown. I'm a 70 year old grandmother with disabilities and I have had TSA precheck for years. I have severe arthritis and it's very difficult to remove my shoes especially when there is no comfortable seat anywhere and 200 people crowded around me! The TSA agents took my walking cane away from me so I could barely walk or function and had the audacity to tell me I shouldn't travel if I have that much pain! I have never encountered such unbelievable rudeness in my life!
My travels have taken me all over the world and SJC airport is the worst! Do yourself a favor and fly in to SFO airport!
There are many areas to talk about when it comes to an airport. From the design to the operations, and to the amenities within. So instead of bore you with the details, here are a few useful bullets.
- Small airport, but everything is reachable within a small distance.
- Connected terminals so accessing different amenities are possible.
- Fast Internet (most of the time).
- Very decent lounges if you have access. (occasional restrictions).
- Lower flight cadence when compared to bigger airports like SFO.
- Less airline options when compared to bigger airports like SFO.
Get a bagel in terminal B before you go to gate 31+. Also security was fine just listen to them. No shoes. No belts. No liquid bigger than 3oz, no problems.
Next airport in Silicon Valley! Easy to reach, small, fast to get in and out through, and work direct flight to some of the world's biggest hubs (London, Frankfurt, Tokyo, Shanghai).
This is our favorite bay area airport to fly in and out of. Super clean and good food options!
I lived in Northern California for a few years, years back, and remember how old and in need of renovation the terminals were. My how that has changed. The new Southwest terminal is simply fantastic; clean, bright, complimentary wi-fi...it's a pleasure to fly in to and out of.
It's a fully support and equipped international airport in San Jose. What else to say? More convenient to Santa Clara County residents than SFO.
Its right there but $5 for a luggage carr is a crime
Clean, efficient, and smaller airport...great for flying out of the San Jose area.
I want to comment that I'm super furious! How is it possible that people with ineptitude are working at the airport! They are racist and discriminatory with Americans and Europeans !! They vote everything they see branded! I have never had problems with my things. Never! I have traveled to Europe, Canada and Chile and have never thrown anything! And the country that belongs to my parents threw me a lot of things, I'm not coming back here! If I could give 0 stars but I can't! Do not travel here!
Clean, good service, connection for energy everywhere!
Sure is funny all the coffee shop are open but not the bars. Close the coffee shop as well!!!!!
MUCH BETTER THAN SFO, if you can go to SJC choose SJC! TSA is much shorter and much easier to navigate!
It is not a huge airport like SFO, so it's easy to use
Its an Airport... nobody really likes an airport experience but San Jose International is the best choice in the bay area. SJC is still fairly small, parking and airport fees are way cheaper than SFO and there are practically no weather or air traffic related delays. There are fewer direct flight choices than SFO but pick it whenever possible.
Consistently fast check in and security here. The only downside is if you are coming from international flights, the customs line can be huge and very slow because it is a small airport.
Waiting for take off took 15-20 just waiting on the taxi way.
Easy airport to navigate, but they desperately need better restaurant options. I would expect much better for a bay area airport. Also, getting to the rental car place was a bit ridiculous. You feel like you're driving in circles just to get to the rental car ramp, then you drive in more circles going up multiple floors of the garage to get to the actual agency. Mine, of course, was on the top (7th) floor (Dollar Rental).
Laid out very well. Plenty of options for dining as well.
Clean venue....all the stores and food stops we're all closed when I landed on a Sunday at 7pm.......I guess due to the Corona virus
Nice to see retail and food options in spite of Covid
Airport is super clean. They are following all safety measures to protect the airport staff and the passenger!
Very clean and always accommodating of travelers. It's always spacious since arrivals and departures are separate areas.
This is what an airport should be.
I've travelled a lot and I have to say it's one of my favorites.
It's a bit weird to review an airport since it's rarely a place you deliberately chose. But with the proximity of SFO, it can actually be the case.
First of all, it's brand new. From Parking lot to Gates and Rental Car offices, it feels like it was opened yesterday. It also means it's modern in the way it was conceived.
It's quite small. Compared to SFO, you can walk from A to B without having to rush. You can park for 1h right next to the Arrivals if you have to pick someone, it will just cost you $2 or $4.
It's Silicon Valley! They offer free WiFi. All seats in the waiting area have power and USB plugs. Very appreciable. Parkings has NFC payment (great to show off Google Wallet to visiting family!).
These are all good reasons, but the best is it's never crowded. It's much smaller than SFO, so usually it's easy to park and walk. If you're coming to the Bay Area, and not San Francisco itself, you'll find it more convenient.
Great airport - beware on Monday mornings it is very busy (I had a 6am flight) so leave time to get through security.
Easy to get in and outots of good food places while you wait
Conveniently located, bright terminals with decent food options and decent free WiFi.
If I could rate it a 0 no stars. The worse airport known to man ! Horrible customer service!!!!!!!! Apperently it's ok for customer service to roll eyes at customers. Does not open on time and in the process of opening late causes passengers to be late for flight.
Airport is clean and there a lot of chairs to sit, but unfortunately there are no sockets to charge your phone or other electronic devices.
Literally 50% of the seats with power ports don t work.
A superior option than going all the way to SFO. Less stress.
Gateway way of Silicon Valley. Great food courts here.
Very expensive day parking rates at this place. Why it's not free parking or complimantry
A small airport may need to line up for a while. I am a bit confused when I am standing at the exit sign. The shuttle bus to the car rental center(6) is actually at 2 o'clock, similar to the bus stop.
If you want to have lunch or a cocktail with your friends or family before your flight then choose another airport. The terminals are designed to accommodate passengers only. No restaurants, no lounge, few seats and no outlets in sight. Only a small, dark enclosed area for seeing people off, and a newsstand selling soda and mixed nuts. It's pretty depressing and a horrible way to send someone off. Not one person in the terminal had a smile on their face. Next time we're flying out of Oakland, SFO or Sacramento. On the plus side, its easy to get to from Amtrak, which earned them a second star.
Quick easy if you are tsa-pre (and if you're not my experience with tsa has been good here, LA tsa are the worst of the bunch.
Went to rent a car during Covid and had a seamless experience, i was also prepared with my itinerary and valid ID. I hope everyone who visits has a similar experience
Favorite airport to pick up, drop-off, or fly out of. Easy access and great traffic control.
In terms of location, it's convenient to really anywhere in the SF/Peninsula/OAK/East Bay/SJ South Bay/Silicon Valley/Santa Cruz. This is partially because most of the time you can get through this airport fairly quickly compared to other airports. The city not investing in a people mover (or two) is utterly ridiculous and does a disservice to the city, Silicon Valley, and everyone who utilizes this supposedly high tech airport. So be prepared (possibly) for long terminal walks (exercise). Food and shopping selections are not great. I agree that the roadways/signage are ridiculous and poorly designed. It's nice that the terminals are new/updated, but there are some negatives (I won't get into with that). Public transportation to the airport is substandard. San Jose should do what Oakland is doing and at the least have an actual Light Rail (if not BART) connector train (spur line such as Ohlone/ Almaden) down Airport Parkway/Brokaw from First Street. First Street is fairly close to the airport, and so I can't imagine it would be that expensive ($120 Million or so?) Public transportation though doesn't generate parking revenue for the city you see. The one reason I like this airport, is that usually, it is low stress and efficient compared to most other airports. So getting from point A to Point B is usually relatively easy and hassle free. 3.5 Stars.
Excellent infrastructure despite being a medium-sized airport, there are staff who attend us not only in English and Spanish but also in various oriental languages and more. The internet connection is good and the wait is not so unpleasant
Easy access one third the crowd of SFO centrally located
Baggage check was quick, no lines, as was getting through security. One person ahead of me and made it through in less than 5 minutes!
A really good time waster. After a 12 hour flight which was itself delayed by an hour. We arrived at the San Jose airport and the computers for customs and border protection were down. Completely exhausted from the flight, everywhere had to wait an hour in a narrow hallway while they fixed them. Horrible and old system, San Francisco has a more modern and faster system for getting people through.
Deceptively large and updated. The main concourse seems to go on for days. Restaurants are all good with the usual fare. The parking garage and rental area is a sight in itself. 5+ floors right out the front door of the airport with some fun neon and art around.
This airport is PAINFULLY slow with everything. If you don t arrive with 2 hours to check your bag, don t expect to make your flight.
Very good, it has good practices of safety, hygiene and also a friendly and personalized treatment ...
Always surprised by how slow the free wifi is considering the location.
Beautiful day to fly. Airport is clean and organized. Arrived in the A.M. and virtually no lines, flying international, at the check-in counter or passing the TSA inspection. Workers are helpful and friendly with any questions or when letting you know what you need to do. Love living close and flying out of this airport.
Had a Business Aviation Event and was impressed with the friendliness of staff and security. Airport shuttles, food services, ride share, charter buses, SFO charter, Air bus rides, restaurants, shopping and souvenirs
First flight was delayed an hour, so they rerouted me to a different flight that also ended up delayed an hour. Definitely one of my least favorite airports I've ever been to.
Quick security checks, ready check ins. But the restaurant scene and the shopping sucks. The shops close by 7 pm! So if you have a red eye flight, you better finish up your dinner.
IF YOU ARE PLANNING ON USING SAN JOSE AS AN AIRPORT TO FLY INTO WHEN COMING FROM A FOREIGN COUNTRY, I IMPLORE YOU TO THINK AGAIN What an awful experience. I was starving when I got off the plane going from Cabo to SJ, and I had the pleasure of waiting over an hour in a crowded customs line. Unlike other airports that use computers to speed up the process, SJ only offers it for Global Entry, which makes everything take way longer. This is one of the worst experiences I have ever had in an airport
Nice, modern, small-ish airport. Close to the heart of Silicone Valley.
Great airport. Lots of food options and easy to navigate around the place. Security was fast and no issues
A good airport with everything you need to have a pleasant wait.
A nice airport but it s time to upgrade. It needs more places to eat and drink and the restroom capacity needs greatly increased.
I love this airport I find that everything is easy to find I always feel very comfortable
Great airport, I never mind flying into or out of SJA
Flown out from here multiple times and have never had a really long wait.
Small, but friendly and nice. I like the design and interior. Very nice for a small International Airport.
I recommend this airport over SFO and OAK because access is much easier, there is less traffic and the climate in the airport is much more lax than the other bay area airports
Half of all the seats in Terminal B have power outlets. Unfortunately, it is nearly impossible to get to this airport via public transportation.
