It was great to go up to WI and visit my oldest son and my 2 grandchildren!!! AND we brought our youngest boy( even though he missed school and baseball) Everyone got to see snow (we're from Florida) and ski. What a great family day!

I really like this hill. There are all sorts of different runs with different difficulty levels that cater to all. Their terrain park is pretty good and their bunny hill is perfect for teaching people and children how to ski or snowboard. My only complaint is that their food is kinda expensive and their building is a little hard to navigate for people new to the hill. Very good hill

Wish I could leave NO stars. We had 15 ppl, 9 kids, to go tubing. Get there at 6:10. They said it will b 7:00 to get tubes. So we wait. Well finally at 7:45 we leave, with 9 very disappointed kids, and them still telling us we will get tubes. Ok, they close at 9....they should have said right away that we will not make it on. Very unorganized, no one knew what was goin on. 1 person tell u 1 thing, and another tell u something else. Very poor. Wouldn't recommend to anyone.

This is a fabulous family place for skiing, boarding and tubing. Prices are reasonable and competitive. All ages can find something to do here. A very nice beginner area with some really good ski instructors if you want to take lessons. Several different runs with varying difficulty so a great place for you if your group has different skiing abilities. The terrain park is also set up with varying degrees of difficulty and is very popular with the boarders. Tubing down the runs is exhilarating even for a 65 year old like me! The staff are very helpful and seem very interested in accommodating any request within reason. The staff is also great with setting up rental skis, poles, boards and helmets. The lodge has great food with both a cafeteria style counter in the lower level and a bar with food off the menu on the upper level overlooking the hill. There's also a very nice outside deck to sit out and enjoy the scene. They really make an effort to keep up with snow making even when Mother Nature does not cooperate and I understand they have added numerous new snow guns this year to assist in snow making. They did a fantastic job last year keeping snow on the runs even though Mother Nature was very uncooperative so I can only imagine how much better they will be at getting fresh snow on the runs this year with their new equipment. This is a great place for winter fun. You won't be disappointed.

Thanks for responding. I called last season because it had snowed 7" the night before and was told that the resort was closed during the day. I was flabbergasted! I've never heard of a ski area being closed during the day in the middle of winter. I had stayed up late sharpening my skis and getting my gear ready, I was so excited for the biggest snow of the year! You should be open for day skiing, especially on powder days! Night skiing is ok but it isn't for everyone. Plus, powder packs down over time.

It's been ages since I've been here. This was my first time hitting up the tubing run. It was a lot of fun. Had to swap out tubes because my first one wasn't getting enough speed or distance. But after that, totally worth it. Will definitely be going back next season.

Just wanted to say thank you and good Job. On the second monday of february, myself , son and daughter came up for the learn to turn deal. We had a really good time. Our lesson instructor was patient, thoughtful and fun. He had us all feeling confident and ready to go within an hour. I myself had not been on ski's in 25 years and my kids first time out. Anyway, all the staff that we had contact with were very nice and helpful and we all had a lot of fun. Thanks again for a great experience, we will be back soon.

We went snow tubing here as a family (we are all adults) and had a blast. They did have to shut down the tube hill for a bit to groom it because of icy conditions. We were offered extended time on our existing passes or vouchers for the future. We choose the vouchers. Thanks for a fun afternoon!

Super-friendly staff! Great prices! Good food!
My family and I just spent the day at Nordic Mountain and had a blast!
The staff at the rental counter went out of their way to help us and were super-patient helping us gear up our less than cooperative 2-year-old.
We plan on going back many times.
If you're thinking of bringing your family skiing, this is the place to go!

Nice little mountain. Kids area is great though you should bring leather gloves for the tow rope. It will shred your gloves. There is a bar which is very crowded. Concession s area is generally crowded as well. Not a great place to relax with little ones.

I drove 1 1/2 hours from Shawano WI to try out your Pond Skimming (something i've always wanted to do) your Facebook Page said it would be open from 1-4 on Saturday. so me and a friend of mine drove there to try it out, we got there at 3:00 pm (I have my receipt to prove it) I purchased my $50 lift ticket (didn't want to spend that but thought it would be worth it because I was going to go across your pond) so I paid the $50 and then went outside just to see them putting a fence around the pond it was alittle after 3pm.... the only reason I went there was to try the pond skimming..... so I went back to talk to your GM to see if there was anything he could do about it. He didn't help much at all He wouldn't even offer me a refund on my lift ticket... I have been to this slope before and I have always enjoyed it. but after how I was treated yesterday doesn't make me really want to come back there

Horrible customer service and no common sense approach to WI Learn to Ski deal. The point is to get younger kids into the sport as both Skiing and Snowboarding are seeing a decline in participation with the younger generations. Was excited to take my children and check out a new ski hill, as they are close to my home, but will never recommend them to anyone based on my experience with their office manager today. Go to Granite Peak or anywhere else, no need to give these people your money. Nordic Mountain just doesn't get it and does not care about getting kids into the sport. Just a greedy resort, apparently ran by people with no business sense.

Edit to response from Nordic:

1. My issue has nothing to do with you being sold out on Sunday. I would have came another day midweek. It has to do with your poor customer service and short sightedness.
2. My issue with the Learn to Ski deal from your resort, is the fact you won't allow those 7 and under to get the same cost, even though they are excluded from the lesson portion. Makes zero sense to not offer that same deal/cost, when removing the lesson, and allow parents to pay the extra $65 you'd normally charge for a one on one lesson. You'd still get the $29 for lift/rental and an additional $65 for the lesson. You'd rather charge them extra, which is the exact opposite of what other resorts with common sense and business acumen do.
3. Granite Peak chose not to offer the deal, you are correct. I had no intentions on taking my kids there this week, but after the poor customer service I received from your mgmt., I called them and had a much better experience. They were polite, which your office manager was not, and even without them not offering the WI Learn to Ski deal, they still come out a better value for my family of 10 that will be going this week.
4. Your greed in wanting to charge more for our children 5 and under because of your decision to not allow them into the lesson portion no matter the availability, cost your business 100's of dollars and potential repeat customers. Nothing about that decision to charge kids that are excluded from the lesson portion due to age, says to me that you're interested in promoting the sport to the youth. It screams "GIVE US YOUR MONEY"

Response:

You're misinformed that the office manager conveyed that the cost would be $20 + $65. She quoted $100+ for the kids under 5 rental/lift ticket/lesson. That was the entire reason for our disappointment and decision to look elsewhere. Thank you for the replies and allowing me to understand the miscommunication.
