While I attended the university, I was going through a difficult time in my life. NMSU worked with me, and helped me more than words could ever express. A wonderful university with even better professors, TAs, and administration. The school experience was -and will always be- a blessing in my life.

Fun place to walk. Interesting items are found in the most unusual places. Beautiful trees. Varied terrain. Several places to eat. Sometimes you might come upon a lecture open to the public. Be sure to stop at the Chile Institute to sample and buy some interesting for the taste buds salsas and other condiments.
I am a double major and life at NMSU, is fantastic. I love it here. I will be receiving two bachelors degrees, in the near future. My family is going to be proud. NMSU is awesome.
Maybe this is nicer than UNM, honestly I have no idea. But please keep in mind I've never written an online review before. In light of my first year at NMSU I am. As the other reviews state there really are some great people at NMSU. My problem was however registering for classes, incredibly unprepared professors (some of whom would assign things then not give you what is needed and you get the bad marks for that) (ignoring emails, hands raised, office visits) (ignoring students trying to join their class), unfortunately a bad advisor although I had friends with good ones among many other daily occurrences that changed my happy to be there view to wishing I had my money back. Now they started online classes due to COVID and have completely dumped all responsibilities on their students. I understand this is a confusing time for NMSU as well but thats not my problem get your act together. If you're a high-school senior reading this I'd go to CNM, UNM or out of state if that is an option. I think it'd also be responsible for NMSU to return the money of their students in Spring 2020.
Had a visit here as a student, and the experience was brilliant with a great view of the mountains. As an student of Africa, it showed me what an American University looks like in one of its forms, and it was impressive.
Went there for undergrad. They have great programs. Tuition is cheap and they really care about students. Much better than UNM which I am currently at for grad school. Have cleaner campus and better business school and gym that doesn't look like it is in Africa. Had great experience and learned a lot and knew department heads by name.
It is one of. The renowned universities in this city. Very recognized where you can breathe a very warm environment. For the teaching staff and the students in it. And above all a great kindness. To the staff that is visiting. A great human warmth on the part of each one of them. Thank you ... for allowing me to get to your University in work matters. For the Company in which I work. Thank you very much for the support given At the time you need it. Thank you and have a great day. And support to the authorities in this city to arrive with good. Thank you. New Mexico Department Agriculture .. Until the next visit .. How Long ...
Beautiful campus with lots of trees and grass. Awesome weather with almost no winter. Cheaper than UNM (a lot cheaper) and the people are a lot nicer. Cost of living is low, which makes school and living more affordable. Quality education at a great price.
NMSU suffers from some of the same problems as any state, research university, such as faculty spending more time on research grants than "growing" students. That said, this is an incredible university for various engineering and business programs particularly.
Helpful and generally very under-rated professors. A few aren't so great, but many are wonderful and more than happy to help during office hours. Classes above the 101 level are very reasonably sized. The staff is stressed and over-worked but I don't think that it is their fault. I find that the best professors are at the community college, so if you can take a class there, instead, it will likely be a bargain and you will receive more personalized attention. Like any university it has its strengths and weaknesses, but my experience was positive, for the most part. They also have many wonderful visiting speakers, artists and musicians. I wish there were more varied options as far as accredited programs. However I really liked and learned from most of my teachers. It really depends on how much effort that you, as a student put into engaging with the material and seeking help with your professor if needed. Many professors went out of their way for me, once they knew who I was and that I was trying my best, even if I was completely lost. I think at many larger or more famous universities they don't have as much time for you, and at NMSU, where some departments may be lacking in the newest, most state of the art, fancy stuff, you will have all the attention and help that you need to reach your academic goals and reach for the stars as far as going to conferences and finding advice on getting published or whatever else you need, which lead to professional achievement that made it special for me. I am so glad that I went there.
Beautiful campus, great professors. Biggest downside is a dysfunctional administration, but it still gets 5/5 from me. Las Cruces is also a great college town.
This school is a joke. I need to find something else. I m tired of none of the departments knowing what the other departments are doing. Financial aide and administration are a joke. Good luck seeking advice from these people.
3.5 GPA and have nothing to show for it but financial debt.
Not a great school would recommend going somewhere else price is okay and some staff are amazing but the curriculum is lacking. Better off going to a trade school.
I wanted my 200th Google Review to be of NMSU. I had a lot of good times here, learned a lot, and made a lot of good friends. Thanks to the education I received here I now live in a giant city full of growth, beaches, big buildings, and perfect weather. I started a tech company that is growing exponentially and might even end up with branches in LC and EP. Thanks NMSU.
DID YOU KNOW THIS ABOUT PLACE??? I have heard a lot of things about New Mexico State University! I have heard that they have an elusive dinosaur breeding program in their agriculture department. The dinosaurs here are bread for speed, meat and amusement purposes. It is so fun to think about how fun it would be to ride a triceratops!
The curriculum is good and there are some great Professors. There are a also a lot of unprofessional professors who bring their personal problems into work and are unusually cruel towards their students (not exaggerating). The physical buildings and property are well kept. The parking rules and enforcement is absurd example: you cannot park on the street without a pass, you can only park in the Free dirt lot parking. The main issue with the free parking is that, the spaces are too close so people will hit your car with their door. I would always have new marks on my car. Also, you cannot fully rely on the academic advisers, an example: I asked how to sign up to write an undergrad Thesis (3 credits), which is on the curriculum.. I was told, "Umm... no on ever does that just find something else". Also, the advisers never noticed or cared that I only needed 1 more class to minor in Bio, when I transferred, so instead I just choose a new minor because I was new and didn't know how the system worked.Overall the best thing about the school is the property, it's a chill place and nice escape from the desert atmosphere of El Paso.
If you're interested in distance education, move on from NMSU. You'll be last in line for every service and even turned away from some. Their Veterans organization won't even talk to you if you aren't attending the school on campus. Oh and if you plan on graduating in a certain amount of time, they'll decide not to offer the classes you need to graduate and not offer any alternatives. Advisors routinely put distance students as their last priority as well. If you want to attend NMSU, do it in person or not at all.
