Beautiful place to stay. A perfect getaway dude ranch

A Great Family Vacation for All Ages

If you are lucky enough to have adult kids still willing to travel with you, and if you happen to know of Nine Quarter Circle Ranch in Montana, then you have the makings of a fantastic vacation. If you have young kids, even better. And if you have no kids, then that's fine, too.

We just returned from a week at the ranch with our two adult children--ages 24 and 26. It was unlike any vacation we've taken before, and we all agree that it was one of our best ever. Here are a few reasons why:

>You will be awed. Montana is breathtakingly beautiful. I challenge anyone to NOT have a spiritual experience just standing and looking at the mountains.

>You will be well taken care of. The ranch has been in existence for a century (yes, a century), which has given the Kelsey family plenty of time to get things right. Everyone from the wranglers who lead the trail rides to the cooks in the kitchen knows exactly what they're doing.

>You will make friends. A brilliant ever-changing seating plan ensures that each meal time is a chance to meet fellow guests and bond over your latest trail ride, hike, or fishing adventure.

>You will learn to fish and/or ride a horse. If you already know how to do these things, you will learn how to do them better.

>You will eat well. Fancy food this is not, but it is authentic and fabulous and makes you feel like your grandmother or elderly aunt has taken command of the kitchen. A few highlights: lemon cake, revel bars, cheesy corn, rib eye, biscuits.

>You will laugh as you have not laughed in a long time. Whether at the daily happy hour or the fireside sing-a-long, prepare to laugh so much it hurts.

>You will challenge yourself. Two-hour daily trail rides, as well as a few all-day rides, offer ample opportunity to explore the glorious countryside and up your riding game.

>You will get to play. At 53 years of age, I did not think that barrel riding was in my future. At the ranch, it is. And it is great fun.

When my daughter suggested a dude ranch for our family vacation, I recalled that my former boss has been going to the same ranch every summer for 27 years. Knowing his good taste I figured that we'd have a good time there. Having just spent a week at the Nine Quarter Circle Ranch, I now understand why he returns with his family year after year.

The Kelsey family could not be warmer, and they think of every detail big and small to create a perfect vacation. After experiencing the twice daily rides, fishing expeditions, singing and s'mores at the campfire, end-of-week Gymkhana and the bear and elk stories told by Kameron, you're sure to end the week full of joy and happy with all of the new friends you've made.

We're going back next year. There are hundreds of reasons why that 20+ year guest attendance board in the main lodge is full of medals.

My family and I have been going here for decades. It is the BEST family vacation one could ever hope for. It is perfect for all ages. You can be as active or relaxed as your heart desires. The scenery is absolutley breathtaking and the Kelsey family makes you feel like you are right at home. If you want a place to just disconnect from the hustle of daily life and RE-connect with your family and new friends, I highly recommend this ranch! See you there this summer!

My family has been coming on and off for 40 years. Great place for kids and families as well as couples and singles. Family run for generations, unrivaled Montana scenery. Excellent home cooked food and horseback riding for all ages and abilities.

We went for a little horse ride up the mountain. It's a beautiful ranch with spectacular views. Kameron was extremely hospitable and his help was excellent. His horses were well seasoned and behaved perfectly. My only complaint was the bad weather with unseasonable snow. I hope Kameron can fix that for next year. LOL

Easily one of the best family vacations I've ever had! This place is nothing but fun, relaxation, and fantastic homemade food. Filled with no shortage of outdoor adventure in a truly spectacular setting, Nine Quarter Circle is a fantastic spot to get away from it all. We are already planning our trip back next summer!

We ve been many times. A great place for family get togethers with good horses and trails for every level of rider. The fishing is great as well. Well off the paved road for a more remote feel.

The Kelsey family has built an incredible legacy over multiple generations, and Kameron has a great crew taking care of guests this year. Views from the front porch overlooking the ranch and surrounding valley put your soul at rest, then the wranglers take you to the trails to see it up close. From hearty home-cooked meals to a lively hoe-down for guests, this is a very special place more people need to experience.

this was the best rip I have ever done. At first i thought that it would be kind of boring but this was the trip of a lifetime. I learned to horseback ride and my whole family wanted to stay. You make amazing friends there and you want to live there.

I used to work here back in 2000. The owners are very good people and always expected us to treat every guest with respect and dignity. The guests were always important and we made sure that they had a good time staying at the ranch. I was a guide/dishwasher during my time there, but the hard work you put into running a dude ranch taught me discipline and self motivation which carries the same principles into life today. I will always cherish my time I spent on the ranch. I definitely will go back to visit as a guest and will always recommend to anyone to experience the Nine Quarter Circle Ranch hospitality.
