After breaking my leg in Uganda and having the horrific experience of their medical facilities ( but the most loving and beautiful people ) I was never so glad to be flown home to Ward 33 amazing care from ALL the staff .

My friend was in hospital for over two weeks and was quite ill when she first arrived at the hospital. With good nursing and doctoring she slowly improved back to her usual self. She related that with all the professional medical attendance she received she knew she was in good hands from the start. Although, in a room by herself nurses were always in giving her the confidence that all would soon be well; and by god they were right.
She has nothing but praise for all the staff, who helped in every-way, in her total recovery. My greatest thanks.....

P. N.H.S. Fife. Victoria Hospital
In January of this year I a man of close to 90 years had a fall at home which ultimately
required me to be taken to the Victoria Hospital, Kirkcaldy.
After arriving, firstly to the A.&E. and then to Ward 31 within the new building I was
immediately impressed with my surroundings, I was in an individual private room, one of the new units in this hospital, equal, I am sure to a private home care unit.
Ward 31 deals with extreme fractures, and I was here because it appeared that I had a fracture
on my right hip bone.
My reception here was absolutely brilliant, my firsts concerns were quickly dispersed, I was surrounded by a bevy of beautiful nursing staff who very quickly took me into there care, it made me feel like a private guest, they were so attentive, efficient and disciplined and yet so friendly, I was introduced to them and they made me feel really good, true professionals.
(I still remember all of their names )
This is what our Health Service should be like for everyone.
My next stage was to meet the surgeons, who came and explained to me what had happened
to my hip, and told me about the procedures and the one they would use. Within two days my operation was over and 100 % successful and I became ready for re-habilitation.
However before that, I must mention that the first meal after my fast was exceptionally good
and that the the meals afterwards continued to be very good.
The therapy road maps were explained to me in full detail, the occupational preparing me to find the best way of doing things to make all things easier to get back to normal and the physios showing how to get my limbs going again, with the correct exercises. At all stages of my therapy I was kept fully informed about my progress.
Where my room was, near to the centre of operations, I was able to see and observe much of the movement within the ward and was impressed by the fact that everyone had a particular function and seemed to have a very disciplined approach to their tasks.
All the designated staff to my care were exceptional, and I shall always remember their names, but everyone in Ward 31 are a credit to the N.H.S. A real example of an excellent service, thank you all for assisting me to a full recovery.
Yours gratefully

My wife Margaret had reason to attend the urology centre (ward 9) on Thursday 19th Sept. and she wishes to post a note of thanks and appreciation for the wonderful attention she received during her appointment. The staff were excellent and kept her well informed at all times. The clinic was extremely well run and all staff very helpful.
Praise for all is very much in order instead of all the usual bad press.

Very disappointed after I went into hospital experiencing pains while 27 weeks pregnant only to be left alone in the room with the promise of painkillers that never came until I sent my partner out to find out about it. The midwife nurses also lied to my mother saying I asked them to send her away and I didn't want to see her and then I was rudely spoken to by them and when they told my family only 2 people were allowed in at a time they asked of we would like to swap to allow another family member in and when I agreed they then we're extremely racist to my family member because hehewas Asian and said that they do not allow his kind anywhere part the waiting room which caused me to become upset which meant I had to leave the hospital without treatment for my pain and on the way out the door they told me to never bring my family back to the hospital. That I was allowed to bring back my partner and mother but not my mother's coloured partner because his kind weren't welcomed...I have never met more rude people within my whole life...they showed no care for their patients and spent more time chatting than caring about my welfare or my baby's welfare....never again will I trust them.

Top notch across the board. I've been there a few times for various reasons, and have always found the staff to be very friendly and professional.
I wonder how many people complaining about the attitudes and demeanour of the staff considered whether they'd be chipper if they were stuck in a job with frozen wages for the last several years, constantly overworked, and forced to deal with patients who apparently think a hospital is a hotel; whom expect service with a smile instead of stoic professionalism, and I also wonder how many people complaining here voted for continued austerity under the Conservatives, and whom fail to make the connection.

Sadly, I miscarried and had to have a d+c at Victoria Hospital.
All I can say is that all the doctors and nurses were absolutely lovely and professional. Just after we found out that we had lost our baby all the staff were very compassionate and did the best they could to comfort us.
I was on ward 32 when I had my d+c and again, although very busy, all the staff looked after me and my partner, we had a single room all day and lovely nurses and doctors explained everything to us in detail. The surgeon was very nice and made little jokes to make me feel less nervous, the procedure went well and I would always go back to Victoria Hospital.

I was admitted to the Victoria Hospital early on Saturday 2 April having become very unwell during the night. The doctors and nurses were quick to attend to me and I was sent for lots of tests as they were concerned for my wellbeing. The doctor said I needed a chest Xray as he had suspected something serious. After I had the chest Xray results which was within 10 mins after the Xray I was on a drip as I had Pneumonia in one lung. I was transferred up to ward 51 in the Victoria and all the nurses and doctors were just fantastic in caring for me over the next 4 days. They were in and out checking on me and changing over my antibiotic drips which I had about 10 bags of. I was very poorly when I went in but just feeling 100% better 4 days later. I would like to pass on my heartfelt thanks to Lauren, Angela, Lynne Donna and Dr Massey to name a few but I am so grateful to everyone who attended to me and the professionalism shown by every member of the medical team. It is not until you contract a serious illness that you realise how much you depend on the hospital staff to look after your valuable life. I cannot thank you all enough for all you did for me. my kindest regards and best wishes to you all. Rita xxx

My wife Bobbie was admitted on Tuesday last with a broken ankle. A& E were busy but looked after her well before going to Ward 33 were, again, she was extremely well looked after & neither she nor I felt patronized despite our ages. My wife would like to thank everyone involved for the care &b attention she was shown.
On my part my only negative comment goes to the faceless bureaucrats who require a busy & highly competent staff nurse to fill out sheet after sheet of admittance documents, many of which ask exactly the same questions, for no apparent reason other than to inform yet more bureaucrats of target achievement. In this day & age, in an NHS under strain, someone high up needs to have a really good look & preferably NOT a politician.

Very disappointed I was waiting 5 hours yesterday for a ultrasound and I then got told at 6 o'clock after being kept in a room all afternoon that I wouldn't be getting it done that night so to come back the next day and I'm still waiting today.

Staff nurses under the influence of mind altering ...
Staff nurses under the influence of mind altering drugs dispensed by their doctor and psychiatric therapy who are allowed to dispense medicine and administrating to vulnerable patients, that s part of the staff setup in Kirkcaldy. She got found out and NHS Fife pensioned her off so in fact got paid for doing a job while probably not fully in control of her own mind. Not that unusual an attitude of a protective body such as NHS Fife when it senior managers are known as bullies and people who cover up their failings by denying investigations. Last time I was in for surgery I ended with more wrong than when I went in. Try another hospital first and try to keep away from here.

Thank you victoria a an e. I brought in an 83 yr old with Alzheimers following a fall and would like to say how impressed i was with the care given. I could have asked for know more, he was treated with care and respect and would like to praise Betsy Nikiperomiz for her kind attention.
In times of NHS knocking I would like to record our appreciation.

Some people should not be allowed to practice medicine. After wasting 3 hours plus in A&E, the lady doctor who saw my mum was not professional at all. She asked if I want her to use crystal ball to see what was wrong with my mum. Crystal ball? A medical practitioner asked that intelligent question. On top of that, I can sense racism. Wow! I was so angry but had to control myself. Very bad service, mediocre service and bad manners

Dear Una
I would like to thank you for your help and support in ensuring my Mother, Jean , was discharged safely to home. You were exceptional at keeping us up to date, proactive in ensuring all the parts (of a very complex system) joined up. Your clarity, compassion, efficiency and empathy made a very difficult and potentially confusing time much better.
Thank you
Karen

Just, honestly the worst hospital I have ever been to in my life. Beyond useless and everything is a big issue to the staff. Had my child here and the experience still haunts me. They just don't care and all patients are just irritating, in their way and over dramatic. Hate the place but it's my local.

So far my experiences of this hospital are less than desirable. My mother was taken in for what seemed like dehydration (she has M.S). She was subsequently transferred to ward 9 of the hospital (This was last year). It was over a weekend. We noticed that her chart was missing medication and queried it to be told they had withdrawn all of her pain meds. Then we found out that she hadn't been given medication when she was supposed to. After querying this, the staff hid her chart so I couldn't look at it, which I was entitled to be a court appointed guardian. Then we found out that they weren't feeding her. When I brought this one up they simply said that they'd put it down infront of her and she hadn't eaten or when the lass came round with food she refused. She has full blown dementia and requires prompting and someone to actually help her eat. It got to the point that my father and I blew a gasket and started bringing food in ourselves to which the nurses protested but firmly they were told that if they weren't going to feed her, we bloody well would!
Hospital is a disgrace.

hi, can anyone fa fife give me the main e mail for ,,Victoria hospital kirkcaldy ,we live in Perth Australia and have found out my wife's brother is in a ward there ,but we really need to find out what's going on as he is 73 , never seen him since we left Dundee in 1977, so trying to phone would be very hard to explain all this ?so I don't see an e mail for any of the wards or main desk . kind regards from Jackie . thanks heaps.

Great friendly personel, amazing service especially for kids. We was on emergency with my wee boy and we was wait about hour and half, what it's not bad for amount of people waiting for help this day. Anyway everything was go nice and smooth, and nurse was so nice than my boy was not worried at all when she was managing deep cut on he's head. Great thanks for NHS Fife and A&E in Victoria Hospital in Kirkcaldy.

Worst hospital I've ever been to. Had to go twice now with my partner who has quite bad conditions. First time went to a&he eoth breathing problems and extreme pain. Taken by ambulance and the. Waited over 4 hours with no one checking on us, given no pain medication and was only seen as when got up to walk out. 2nd time, again waited 3 hours to be seen and a further 2 to be admitted to a ward. Again no one coming to check on us or let us know what was happening. Only to get to the ward and be told to have to wait on a doctor who had 42 patients to get round before they could administer pain meds. It's a frickin joke. I'd rather drive to a hospital further away where patients are better looked after.

Hi It is beyond my understanding!!!! My husband has been suffering from diarrhoea for THREE WEEKS!!! The doctor D.S. required a sample, the sample went to the laboratory - apparently it was leaking as a result. It was apparently thrown away. NO ONE bothered telling us about this situation. We have later learned from the Glenrothes Hospital's nurse that we have to provide another one... WHY did NOT our GP consider informing us about this matter??!! What if this case is life threatening ???? I just wonder whether the FIFE NHS staff could do their duties conscientiously as I do at my work as good as FIFE Council expect us to do???????!!!!!!!!!

Was here to pick up my dad, was a bit difficult to find where we had to go and when I asked a member of staff where it was, they didn't even know, doesn't bode well for people who have never been there before.
