NHC of Bristol Review

Our 94 year old father was at the facility from January 2017 until this July when he passed away. All the staff on the 2nd floor and Melissa the PA were wonderful during the last days of his life. They not only cared for our father but they cared for the family.

Between my brother and I we were there 5 / 6 days a week and at all different times. Not to mention other family members and friends that were in and out. So we saw the care that was given to not just our loved one but the other patients.

I will not say that we never had any issues in the year and half that he was there, but what I will say is that when we did and we discussed it with the nursing staff, housekeeping or laundry it was always resolved and handled in a professional manner. Natalie the Administrator was also available to assist if needed.

All the staff from administration to the maintenance department treated our father with love and respect. He was happy there and we had comfort knowing he was being cared for. And he would tell us if he wasn't being treated right. He did not hold back... :)

No facility or business is perfect and never will be but the important thing is how they respond when there are issues and if they are corrected. That is what we found at NHC Healthcare Bristol.

I have recommended NHC to many people and will continue to do so.

The CNAs do their best, but corrupt management is the problem there. Coverup, coverup, coverup. Professional people should be ashamed to tell lies as they do.

I would like to express that I thought I would never have the need for a facility like NHC Bristol. I became acutely ill 7 months ago, I have been in and out of other facilities and NHC Bristol is the BEST facility in the area. The therapy department went above and beyond for me, they are an outstanding group of people. The nursing staff are top notch, they are the most attentive, caring and compassionate nurses and aides. They helped me thru to the road of recovery and I am finally going home. The biggest heart felt Thank you to nursing and therapy for spoiling me rotten

My Father n Law was there on two different occasions and I will never let him go back again. They are horrible, and rude. They lost 4 pairs of his pants, switched his room and threw away his bathroom stuff, lost underwear and socks. They were suppose to set up home health care and never did. Gave him tomatoes and he is allergic. I could keep going. The physical therapy was amazing however the nursing staff, laundry and staff were very rude.

My family had a great experience here. Staff was professional and caring. I highly recommend NHC Bristol to anyone needing rehab care. Thankful for the care provided.

Physical therapy was great.But the whole stay was very stressful .Wouldn't bring your meds or would say they had been given when they werent.would ignore call buttons .Other patients would wander in my room all hours of the night .I was left in the shower for forty minutes with no help of getting out .Had to get out the best I could .I hope I never have to go back there.

I have been visiting NHC for years and have had many family members and friends spend time there either in Rehab or in the Nursing Home section, I have never seen such great care from the staff they are always kind, caring, and considerate. I am happy to learn that Michelle Foran has been named Director of Nursing , I knew her as a young woman working as a CNA struggling with other responsibilities she endured and became an LPN, I have had many encounters with her and I'm sure she will ensure that each and every person who enters those doors will have the care they need. I will say, if you had a bad experience at NHC maybe you should consider the way you responded to the staff ad treated them. I have learned if you treat people right they will treat you accordingly. I envision NHC continuing to be the leader in the area .

I'm sick about what happend to my aunt in this place, as sick and as bad off as she was somehow she contracted ecoli in this place the only place she was housed at the time. And then what? No investigation no responsibility no nothing thanks alot nhc! Patents beware.

The worries and considerable problems with this rehab facility are numerous. The physical therapy teams are wonderful, which is the only reason I'm here for the second time. We are only allowed 2 showers a week. A shower makes the patients feel renewed, also a great health benefit for sick and injured patients. There no where near enough CNA staff. Waits on bedpans and on the commode can be clocked at 20 minutes and sometimes more. Unfortunately many of the state regulations are in this facility are at a bare minimum here.
Ammended:. Administrative have contacted me and were very kind and courteous, and eager to deal with my concerns, much appreciated.

This place is absolutely horrible. My Grandmother has been in this facility twice and both times they have neglected her. They leave her alone for hours, often taking just as long to respond to her calls, have left her sitting in the bathroom (unable to walk herself) for HOURS to the point where she becomes raw, her beating on the walls trying to get their attention, and I cannot for the life of me understand why. This is supposed to be a CARE facility, and this is how she is treated? She is stuck in this place, her family unable to come see her and it shows in their staff. I will be filing further complaints.

Very unprofessional, they change schedules behind your back and get mad when you show up for the original shift even tho you were unaware of a schedule change. You say something to them about it and they start decreasing hours.

My uncle was a resident at NHC Bristol for an extended time, sadly he passed away. My family wishes to thank the entire staff for their professional care from the start of his illness to the end of his life. Everyone was very friendly and helpful, not only to him but to our entire family.
The building was clean and looked nice. The food was unexpectedly great, it was not the standard institutional food that I had experienced at previous hospitals and care facilities. Whenever we had questions or needed anything, we were always helped by a smiling staff member.
Through all of this the memory we will hold forever was at the very end, as his time grew short the love and compassion that filled his room as he was surrounded by those who had cared for him, his angels, comforting the family and watching over him.
The staff has my utmost respect for the job that they do.
I highly recommend this place if you are considering options for your relative who needs this type of care.

This place is incredible! I work very closely with this center and would send my family member here in a heartbeat. They have one of the best therapy staffs I have ever seen and they remodeled their rehab wing recently and it looks awesome. Excellent facility!

Outstanding staff . Compassionate and willing to keep on trying even when my mother can be unreasonable and difficult. After looking at many places for her to get the care she now needs , this was an excellent choice , so very Thankful to all the staff for everything they do to keep her care at the highest possible quality.

I am currently employed at this facility, when I read all the negative reviews it really surprises me because I know how hard almost all the employees work here, some don't that is true but you have that everywhere in any job your going to have bad people because everyone s work ethic is so different. I see people who push beyond what is almost impossible work load to keep up with resident s needs . ( which is almost incomprehensible ) I almost call them super hero's my hats off too all employees that works at nhc you really are amazing

Very poor experience . Doctor Unavailable on weekend even in dire need. None on call. Nurses no help at all. Had bad fluid built up and no power to help. Could have died by Monday. Had to sign out patient to get him to hospital. Had to call EMS ourself . Said they were not allowed to call. Said patient could not come back if they did not admit patient to hospital. Patient was bad enough to be admitted afterall. Poor poor policies when patients wellfare is not first and formost. Do not send your loved one there to never come out alive. They have no power without doctors orders. Sad . Would give negitive 10 stars if i could

This place is AWFUL! If you are considering taking a loved one here... DON'T. Not all, but most of the staff is very rude and unprofessional. They have violated HIPAA laws on more than one occasion that we know of, possibly more. They openly talk about patients personal information in front of other patients and their families. The staff, especially on the 2nd floor, have no respect or empathy towards the patients. No matter how many times you tell the staff NOT do to something, they do it anyway. If you go to the nurses desk to ask a question or ask for help for your family member, they look at you like you are bugging them and it's a hassle for them to do their job. I honestly think they will just hire anyone that walks through the doors, as some of their staff is very sketchy. It's very hard for you to trust that they will treat your family member right and not abuse them... It's heartbreaking leaving your loved one because you never know what they are going to do to them. Please consider taking your loved one somewhere else where they will receive the care they deserve.

The weekend charge nurse is the most hateful woman I have ever met in my entire life. I would not trust my family member in their care.

My father was a patient at this facility in 2016 before he passed away. I cannot day enough about how caring and knowledgeable the staff was. They made his final days as comfortable as possible. The Administrator, Natalie, and Social Services Director, Sarah, set up private accommodations so family could have private time with him. One particular CNA, Juan, and nurses Sue and Shea, always kept me informed and treated us all with kindness and respect. I would recommend this facility to anyone... in fact, I wouldn t have my family anywhere else.

The rehab was like a bunch of chickens running around with there heads cut off. The room my mother was in was too small for 2 people. Mo comfortable chairs for family members to sit on.
An my mom is on oxygen 24/7....but they didn't even have a long enuff oxygen hose for her too get back & forth too bathroom. They would put her in an wheelchair with a oxygen bottle too get to bathroom.
But i will say the nurses were very nice & helpful.
An the food was great, i would go every evening and have supper with my mom.

I am so impressed with this center! I have been in many rehab and nursing facilities as a visitor over the years with some good and some bad experiences. When the time came for my relative to need assistance in healing I knew immediately that NHC was the only place for him. The staff is very professional, kind and patient. The food is superior, the center is clean (smells clean too) and the therapy staff is excellent. I highly recommend NHC in Bristol.

It s funny when I post about how this facility neglected to do anything about my grandmother the night she told them she was having problems breathing that same night she passed away that post never shows up and when you look on any site job site or review site the biggest complaint I see is about management I will never have another family member in this facility

Responsive and innovative leadership. I am thankful we chose this facility for our family member's needs.

My Aunt is a patient at NHC Bristol. I cannot say enough good about this place. From the Nurses, Therapist, Dietary, Laundry, Doctors and NP's . They all work really hard to provide EXCELLENT care of the patients. They go above and beyond.

If I could give this facility a 0 star rating I would. This is the most disgusting place I have ever stepped foot in. The management is terrible, the poor staff members are so over worked. The don is too worried about how much hair spray she has in her hair and how much perfume she has on to worry about anything else that s going on in the facility. Truly awful! Stinks so bad throughout the whole facility and everyone is so stressed out the environment is truly despicable. The blankets the put on the bed for the new residents are tackier than the motel 6.
