NH Barbizon Palace Amsterdam Review

My room was on the street side and above the bar vh hotel, huge noise. Moved to another room at night this was perfect!

5 Stars are pretty much a joke. The rooms are worn down and very old fashion. This might have been a decent hotel in the 1980s, but not nowadays. WiFi is a ripoff too.

My room was very pretty but the nighttime noises coming from the street on which the room faces kept me from sleeping. The location of the hotel is great.

The rooms are great I have not had the opportunity to use other services. It is a convenient location near the station, a stone's throw from public services ... It is prohibitive to rent a bicycle, better find alternative solutions in the center.

Horrible experience. STRONGLY RECOMMEND DO NOT STAY AT THIS HOTEL. Noisy room, bad service! The hotel bullies the Chinese. Reception (MS ROOS) gives the Chinese the worst, smallest, and noisy room. After the complaint, I was willing to change to a quiet room for us at 12 am. The attitude of the customer service manager (JUDITH) is also very poor. There is simply a normal room and no Chinese. I strongly recommend that you do not live in this hotel.

For a 5 star hotel, it has 4 star service with the exception of the buffet breakfast. To say they have til 6 pm to clean one's room is ridiculous.

Great location opposite the central station. All of Amsterdam is accessible by foot from here. The best buffet breakfast I've ever had. Some rooms are small. Super helpful staff.

Hotel with a perfect location, close to the canals, at the foot of the metro and the central station, but in a quiet street.

This hotel is right in the city centre opposite to Amsterdam central station. Lots of restaurants and pubs are closeby. Boat tours are also nearby. Hotel rooms are spacious as well

Bad choice... Late check in . I book three rooms . I arrived at 2pm.. I received one at 4 pm the second at 5,30 pm ..the third at 6,30 pm.. There is no park available for big cars in hotel like van or family cars..

The room was very clean and big enough for two people. Had a great stay!

Beautiful hotel and amazing staff in a convenient location

We stayed at this beautiful hotel from Monday to Sunday, right near Amsterdam Central Station.
The location was perfect, everything we wanted to see was less than a 15-minute walk away and the weather played along for the most part (when it rained, the friendly staff at the reception were so nice to hand out umbrellas).
The service was incredibly courteous and our special highlight was the breakfast with an outstanding staff that read every wish from your eyes. If you made a special request (such as 5 minutes of eggs instead of the conventional 7 ), it was fulfilled immediately and the special request was remembered in the days afterwards and you were asked unsolicited whether you would like it again.
The staff greeted you every day so warmly and with open arms that you couldn't get up in a bad mood!
We use almost every service that is available in this hotel, including the sauna area. This is small, but very cozy and wonderful to relax in the evening and then start again into the nightlife; D
One can only say about the rooms: WOW!
Furnished so stylishly and warmly that you just have to feel good!
And on the particularly warm days, the air conditioning saved our lives a few times!

All in all, we will definitely come back and spend our next vacation in this wonderful ambience!
Oh and about the Corona regulations: It was ensured that everything was very hygienic (disinfection options everywhere in the hotel and the staff wore face masks and gloves) but in a non-intrusive and very pleasant way that you could feel comfortable despite Corona had really pleasant and nice stay.

Good hotel but they need to improve their in room dining

Had an opportunity to stay here on a company trip, so I can't speak to the value but I can speak to the quality. It's a pointedly well done place in an excellent location that works very hard to be a luxury experience. I would highly recommend it.

Just across the river from Amsterdam Central, a four minute walk. The staff was very pleasant. Rooms are modern looking. Wood or faux wood floors. Internet speed is on the slow side. The breakfast buffet was a little tight, not much room to move around when it s busy.

The hotel is clean, house keeping is great! Always neat and clean. I stayed a week in the hotel and was great. Staff is friendly and rooms are just perfect. It could get loud on the weekend at night as it is located close to bars.

Absolutely beautiful hotel. The breakfast buffet is the best I have ever had. There's mass selection of great food to choose from. Everything is quality and I throughly enjoyed it every morning.

The location is perfect - a very short walk from the train station, and close to all the sights we wanted to see in Amsterdam (city centre, Nemo, red light, etc). We walked everywhere had no not travel costs.

The room was very big, as was the bed. The view out the window was a brick wall building - not that great. We didn't find the bed comfortable, but that differs from person to person.

The staff were very friendly and courteous. We had forgotten our travel adaptor, and they supplied us with a large temporary one at no cost - they even dropped it in our room for us. It is the best customer service I've had at a hotel.

I have since tried to book this hotel again, however, they don't allow 3 people in a room. So you can't book with the children. I'm not sure how this works out, since they offer babysitting service.

I also cannot comment on the spa facilities as they were undergoing maintenance during out visit.

A neat hotel with excellent customer-friendliness. We have attended a wedding in the neighboring Sint-Olofskapel. A beautiful historic location with all modern conveniences.

We entered a second to wait between the two doors before the hotel hall .... When we saw a guy Mo (reception staff of the hotel) treated us in a very unpleasant way and we faced us badly ...... For people like that I will never stay at this hotel.

Great hotel..has a shuttle to take you to downtown and close 10 minute walk to the fairy that also takes you downtown.. Rooms are little small but very clean and hopefully you're out taking in the scenery..instead of in the room.

I stayed in the hotel May of 2019. I prepaid for the room with my credit card through the NH collection website only to get double charged during my stay at the hotel. After multiple visits to the front desk (very inconvenient specially on a vacation), they apologized and said it s taken Care of. Only to find out they double charged me AGAIN after 1.5 months without my authorization!!!

Great hotel 5 min from Central Station. Rooms are rather small and noise isolation is not so great but overall a good location and nice hotel.

The hotel is great, clean rooms, spacious and comfortable, the location is ideal. On the other hand the staff is moderately friendly and not very attentive. We expect a little more consideration in a hotel of this standard.
We waited long minutes to our arrival, the staff passed by us without seeing us, no one said hello ...
At the hotel bar, same scenario, the two times we went there. After 20 minutes, nobody comes to take your order, you will have to go to the counter to ask to be served. It was still worth the wait because the cocktails are excellent.

Nice hotel, but the rooms are noisy due to crowds of tourists, transport and humming ventilation. The furniture is slightly jammed. On this, in general, the shortcomings end ... The location is excellent, breakfasts and wifi are also quite normal. The staff is nice and courteous.

Everything was perfect: service, room, location, and price. There is no better hotel in downtown Amsterdam.

We stayed here for 5 days in december and loved it. The staff where so helpful. I contacted them before i stayed as was my boyfriends birthday and asked them could they do anything and they where so nice and decorated the room for me with ballons etc deff will stay again

The only good thing about the hotel is the location.

The rooms layout is strange some with stairs some without.

They do not refill the minibar snacks.
The mattress had stains on it.

We went out one day for four hours and we came back no one had cleaned the room.

Pillows were not comfortable at all i got really bad neck pain and stiffness.

Also the water from minibar they do not refill or provide complimentary water.
We stayed for 4 nights they only put 1 small bottle for the whole stay...

The bathroom has no normal amenities like other 5 star hotels, theres no cotton pads, cotton buds, no hairbrush, no toothbrush or toothpaste.

Makes you feel like your in a 3 star hotel not 5 star at all...

Very dissapointing for the price you pay, its just about the good location.

Worst thing as well we had to take our own luggage for checkout, no one came for 25minutes

Beautifully renovated rooms, wonderful accommodating staff and a short walk from Central Station. So thankful they let us check in early for a quick nap when we arrived in Amsterdam.

Location is good but the hotel room was less. Broken shower head, mold in the bathroom and a wobbling bed. Really nice shower is also not really because you are in a bath and the drain keeps closing because you stand on it with your foot. Furthermore, a nice hotel.

Great hotel, perfect location near the station, China town, red light district and only 15 mins from Dam square. All refurbished, only negative was breakfast price - 30!!
