Newark Liberty Airport Review

Small airport, well connected to New York and comfortable to wait for flights and receive luggage. It has shops and basic services, few VIP lounges

This is one of the worst airports that I ve been to. I will never fly in using this airport again. Customer service is horrible, the people I encountered had horrible attitudes. They are ghetto and impatient. They are inconsistent with implementation of their rules and procedures as well.

When I landed in Newark, we waited for 1 hour and 15 minutes to pass the passport control. There were few employees although more and more passengers waiting. Some employees where coming and going ignoring the queue. Shame on you!

Terminal C was clean, efficient and security was a breeze (in the AM). We arrived 30 minutes before boarding and still had plenty of time to grab a bite and use the facilities. While every TSA agent or airport employee may not smile or greet you, it s a pretty straightforward airport, I couldn t have had an easier experience.

If I could rate this a 0 I would. This airport is by far THE WORST airport to fly in and out of. As a frequent flyer for more then a decade, this airport has the most delays and cancellations. They blame other flights for delays and then say they dont have pilots to fly their planes. I have never seen so many delays or cancellations over stupid reasons including a rainstorm they "fear" that hadnt happened. I've always been delayed at this airport and if i had a choice to fly into a nearby airport I would. Their parking price is outrageous, They dont offer a free lot with updated boards, they charge you a dime and buck for every little thing, no free wifi, and the worst staff there as well. Their security is super slow and rude.

This is quite possibly the worst service that is available for transportation to or from the airport. I waited over 45 to even an hour to for a bus that was supposed to take me to Newark airport in front of Bryant Park. I ended up calling a taxi/uber to the rescue, and as my new ride got there, two shuttles showed up. Too little, too late.

Got a ride from security all the way to C92, without even asking. Would have been a very long walk with my cary on.... left me enough time to have a glass of wine and an appetizer!!!

At least the AC departure area is lacking options and can be hard to find a place to sit. Every time we have gone through security it seems to take forever.

Once a reliable alternative to the chaos of JFK and neglect of LaGuardia, EWR has now spiraled into a catastrophic mess center on the TSA time management. Once they privatize the security, I expect it will be better.

Worst airport I've ever been to. Wifi is only free for 30 minutes, the terminals are not intuitive and the shuttle between concourses is poorly designed and cramped. The security and layout of the entire airport is inefficient.

Gotta love an airport where you step out of the gate and onto the entrance of a Dunkin Donuts. I like this airport over the other NYC airports because of its easy access to Ride share services, good connections for United and the dining options.

I really like the NYC views you get here but overall this isn't the best airport I've flown to. Getting to NYC from here is fairly easy and will only cost $15.

The international section the airport is very modern and up-to-date. There is a wide selection of places to visit while you're inside. There also seems me multiple checkpoints in order to help with the security lines. I gave it four stars for the international section alone. I will give it two stars for the domestic sections as they are terribly outdated and terrible and design in general.

This airport is by far the worst I have ever met!
In the security area at the gates are just 2 footstations and at one we could not even pay by credit card.
The Dutyfree shop is just a shelf wall!
Fortunately, there are at least toilets here.

For the second biggest airport in the area, they can and should do better job. The place is not professional enough and the people who work here are really not into helping people who need help. I will choose JFK over it even if I will have to pay little extra.

Don t come here. I usually get through TSA decently quickly but that s the only redeeming aspect of this airport. Go to JFK or LaGuardia, those airports are much cleaner (especially during Covid times), have better (non fast food/chain options), and a higher quality of clientele. EWR still feels like an airport of developing world. Walking into Newark I get the sense that every surface and individual of that airport is a vector of infection, spare yourself.

Customer service was outstanding and the food in the lobby was very good. However, had to change rooms twice because the smell of mold was really bad. The rooms are in need of an update and something needs to be done about the mold smell.

This was my little girls first flight and they made it memorable for her.

A terrible place. Overcrowded and hard to get around and move between terminals. I will go out of my way to stay away.

Not a site seeing airport, but they are about business and usually efficient.

AirTrain is always down. Wait times 7-10 minutes. Everything is always under construction. Use Philly Airport and shut newark down.

Almost back to normal. Lounges are open, but limited snacks. Orderly and efficient.

This is a truly awful place. The tram from the train station stopped for mechanical issues 5 times before I got out and walked. The TSA process was the same as everywhere. Once through security I was trapped in a small area with few food or drink options. I had plenty of time to wait for a table however, because my flight was delayed.

Horrible, the suitcases to blows, all the souvenirs broken, the staff of invoicing and checkin does not know languages, only English, something quite sad in full 2019 ....
I do not think I'll come back and I will not recommend it, they usually lose their bags and everything goes very slow.
If you take something from Mexico or make a stop, they will take away everything you bought.

Decent airport, definitely dated but I got around easily, and the view of nyc skyline was nice.

The TSA precheck line is rarely open in terminal A and the workers are rude!

Traveled during the pandemic. Everything is very neat and clean. There weren't many people, but the airport staff was looking to put on masks. The navigation is convenient. Basically, similar to any other airport

Lounges are average to above average with USB power supply for you phone or personal device

Its a small airport. They had updated it throughout the years by adding restaurants and shops. I love this airport since its 15 min. From my house.

Stuck on an Alaska Air flight to Seattle because there is only one runway open for departures and arrivals. Their explanation is that it was "windy"

Airport is not oversized in comparison to JFK or Lagurdia. Flights are usually on time, but if you are hungry, the food is extremely expensive especially if you are traveling with children

In transit from Rome to Montreal, interminable checks, no facilitation given the presence of the child only 3 years ... heavier the 2 hours of call that the trip9

This review is only about the automated service for food/drink. DO NOT order from the tablets! It's more expensive, takes a long time to come, and you don't really see the did that you're buying (except one photo). We should have waited and looked around, since there are many good eateries where the food is prepared as you order it and it's cheaper.

Too many levels. level 1 level 2 level 3 at each terminal. Always crowded. air india terminal is like railway station.

So disgusted with an armed TSA officer. About a hour ago a female officer just yelled at a group of handicapped people in line my mother-in-law included saying don't think because you're in wheel chairs you get special privlages, you should go to the end of the line like everyone else. It was so bad that another officer should have intervened but aparantely that's how they treat you here. Like you're not even human.

Very good airport. Nicely maintained and cleaned. Seating arrangement at each gates is also nicely maintained and enough to occupy more peoples. Smooth process of check In. Nice airport overall.

ive spent way to much time here. But its an easy airport to get around, even if you find yourself at the wrong terminal the air train is quick and easy. You have all the amenities you can imagine.

Literately, THE sketchiest airport I have ever flown into. Just dirty and noisy. A lot of unfriendly and unhelpful staff, along with the many "interesting" people hanging around the airport, will never make me land there again.

What on earth were they thinking!?

If you've ever been to another airport, you will ask yourself this question at every stage of this poor example of one.

The AirTrain system is dangerously out of alignment, the security checkpoints are superflously complex, the whiskey is $25 an ounce before tax, every surface is dirty and imparts a grimey feeling to any part of your body unfortunate enough to come into contact with "airport terminal."

Use any other of this region's airports. If business travel forces you to use this one - I offer my deepest condolences.

Consistently the worst airport I have flown out of, and by a significant margin. They have about half as much space and a third as many employees as they need to run the airport properly. Expect to take 45 minutes each to check bags and get past security (more than twice as long as it would take elsewhere). I would give 0 stars if I could. For one of the busiest airports in the country, Newark Airport is a disgrace.

Very crowded outside terminal C baggage claims. Vehicle pickup lane was jammed. Lots not wearing masks

many people missed connections because of slow and inefficient immigration.

I m currently sitting on my United flight that arrived perfectly on time. But now I have been stuck in a sweltering hot airplane for what s going on 45 minutes because the plane cannot find a gate to taxi into. Feel like I m about to pass out and there are 2 screaming babies on top of it all

Terrible security line in terminal A, no organization system at all, pure chaos

Not the nicest airport. But great view of the city coming back and it's less busy than Laguatdia airport.

No Clear, no business or first class security lines.

Been here only twice. Both times treated very well. Traveled with Porter. Love this airline. Great service both times. will come back again.

The worst airport I have ever been to! The staff is rude, uninformed and lazy. I asked the welcome desk attendant at terminal P4 which terminal has a more comfortable sitting since I had to wait for hours for my next flight and the attendant ignored and kept on talking to her friend. Then when I asked again, she turned her head and said, I don t know! and kept on talking to her friend.

Excellent airport, all very organized and it doesn't take a lot of time doing customs, or getting transportation. I absolutely recommend it.

Outdated and overcrowded airport. My flight was very delayed and there wasn t a lot to do or eat while I waited in my terminal. Weirdly, there are more options before you go through security. Their air train runs well though.

Every gate has their own tsa security and if you move to another have you have to go through security again. Very slow

On trip to Dominican Republic: Very confusing and hard to navigate when we landed from Pittsburgh. We were moved from one terminal to another for a reason unknown to me. Then when we boarded we had to wait 2 hours in the hot plane since the luggage carriers went down and they had to manually load our suitcases on the plane (not to mention they had lost some suitcases which required more waiting until they found them)

On our trip back home: We went through what must have been like 3 security check lines just to get to our terminal on our flight back home from the Dominican Republic. The guys at the security upon entering the US made us feel uncomfortable questioning us about where we work and other things as if doubting my boyfriend and I when we answered. They were just very rude. I had a huge headache by the end of the day.

Avoid at all costs and use another airport if at all possible.

Good place to fly through. Centrally located although it was a little bit of a drive to my hotel. Taxi service from the airport was pretty good too.

This is the less stressful airport in the tri-state area if you have to wait in the actual terminal. Waited over 30 minutes in terminal A for a incoming flight and nobody approached us to move. Traffic is much less compared to JFK or La Guardia
