Excellent Theatre, great performance Nutcracker we went to see just after Christmas. Really enjoyed this entertaining and inspiring performance. Venue is amazing. The only one downside is the lack of car park.

A good little venue that has recovered well fro. The disastrous fire that claimed much of the backstage area years ago but still has a way to go to look up to date. Staff are very friendly and the bar pricing was not as painful as I expected. I saw Al Murray there and it was easy to see and hear the show.

Spent a remarkable evening wirh Henry Blofeld. This charismatic character has been commentating on Test Match Specisl for ove 47 years. Last year, (2017) he decided to hand in his microphone and retire, just weeks before his 78th Birthday. This Theatre was the perfect backdrop to "Blowers" anecdotes and wry sense of fun .The staff were attentive and very polite. The Matcham built Theatre is a Victorian Gem in the heart of Portsmouth. All in all a great night in a great venue.

Peter Pan - OUTSTANDING. Cast are incredibly talented and the whole production is an amazing experience. All this plus a beautiful theatre with the nicest staff/volunteers. A return visit is a must.

This is a lovely old theatre saved for future generations to enjoy. Refurbished keeping much of the original decor. Opens for behind the scenes tours. Just visited to see 'The Case of the Frightened Lady' - a murder mystery, which was excellent, with well-known actors from TV. Would recommend visiting especially to see this show.

It was once a beautiful theatre but is in need of some tlc now but you can see that people are lovingly trying where they can. Good seating, raking worked (unlike many theatres) generous seating, and two bars. Mind you all drinks are served in plastic cups even if you don't want to take it in to the performance. The wine was warm and not very nice but very expensive. Other than that it was a great night's entertainment.

Brilliant night out. Kiki Dee with Camella cannot believe she's 71!!!!! Her voice has come of age. Beautiful smokey strong clear notes. Her partner is one of those outstanding guitarists who make the instrument sing, could listen to him forever. The small onstage, intimate affair was excellent, first time I've ever done it and it felt very strange at first but you get to relate and bond with the artists. Almost didn't go, so very glad I did. Building is unusual and staff very helpful. Will go again.

A nice, traditional and cosy theatre, quite compact inside so the stage is close from anywhere you choose to sit. And pricing is very modest especially in comparison to Southampton Mayflower theatre.
Is our favourite to go to for last few years, Christmas pantos, children plays, ballet

The show was good fun, there was a strange smell from where we sat. Lovely theatre but so over priced for things and using plastic cups in the bar and no alternative. We weren't even allowed a glass and drink it in the bar before the show !!! Disappointing really, we certainly didn't look like louts!

Autobiography. Beautiful dancing - but the dancers, lighting and sound designers had no names. No brief introduction about the work for the audience. The various sections failed to communicate their themes. Systematic blinding of the audience by intense light was painful and objectional. Totally self indulgent on the part of the choreographer. Wake up Mr MacGregor and get real. Don't forget your audience or for sure you will lose them. On the other hand, the Clod Ensemble On the High Road performance the previous week was superb and mesmerising. Streets ahead of Autobiography. Bring on Hofesh!

I'm partially sighted so had booked front row seats what I didn't know is that I would have to climb over steps ( not up) to get to my tiny squashed in seat that was practically eye level with the stage which was coverd in dust so started my nose itching and running.I couldn't hear a word Joe brown was singing becouse a woman behind me sang every word of every song (out of tune) down my left ear.the seats are all joined and close together and I had a man behind me ramming he's knees into my back and when he started bouncing around I had to lean forward becouse I thought my back has suffered enough.all in all a terrible nigh and a total waste of money.
