This is a lovely little theatre, my only gripes are the lack of parking nearby (probably not the theatres fault) and the limited leg room. I sat on the front row of the balcony and my knees were squashed!

Lovely theatre. Quality of the experience will vary according to the performance you go to see but the parts that have been renovated look great, the bar areas are fine (upstairs is particularly nice) and staff are friendly. Always look forward to going there.

Pantomime is fantastic. Couldn't fault it!
Bar staff however are a different matter - Stood waiting to be served during the interval and I was ignored by both female bar staff who turned to serve male customers - how rude!!

Portsmouth is lucky to have two vintage theatres. This one had a refurbished years ago but still retains much of the old charm. I've seen a variety of shows here, music, theatre, pantomime and it's a wonderful auditorium. The acoustics are good, the birds from the stalls is excellent and the bar serves a great range of ales. Well recommend.

Lovely venue, been a visitor here for many a year. Offers a good selection of music, comedy and drama. Just as good as any London theatre in my humble opinion! Seats are a little cramped in some parts and the ladies' loo can be a bit of a wait but otherwise good.

Attend the Shakespeare festival here every year and it's a lovely building with a bar available. Can take drinks in which is a nice bonus. Wear clothing that allows you to take layers off as it can get rather warm.

Sadly have to say that the Beauty and the beast has to be the worst show I have ever seen.... No idea where the plot was going... Not even the story of beauty and the beast and just some random bear wandering around the stage. We left half way through and was gutted that I had wasted money on it as it was our family treat for Christmas.

Came down from Stratford upon Avon to watch the "Made in Dagenham" production by the university students of Chichester.
The show was excellent and I can honestly say these very talented guys and girls could participate in any professional show.

The New Theatre Royal is our most favourite place to see a show. Drama, panto, comedy etc, they have it all at various times.

Over the years the theatre has been renovated and upgraded. It's certainly worth appreciating if you've been going here for as many years as we (the family) have.

The facilities are very good and the front-of-house staff are all excellent; friendly and helpful. Transport links are excellent, local parking is plentiful (pay by smartphone app or credit card, as well as the usual old method ) and there are shops within a few minutes walk.

I thoroughly recommend N.T.R..

Went here on a school; nice tour, although the staff were not experienced with behaviours, as they were quick to yell at the children. The theatre is nice, and overall good experience, although the head technician thinks an awful lot of himself; his tour was more like a story of why he's so great!
