New England Conservatory Review

Performers are well trained, good sound qualities, nice and clean hall. You need to come early as you can to find parking. They have paid parking, but if you come early enough you can find street parking nearby Shawnut St or Tremont St. They need to update their bathroom.

Brand new facility just in the last month. Very nice location in Boston across from Northeastern University . They are in process of redoing the dorms as well. Prestigious music college.

A small but significant part of Massachusetts musical education and tradition

The New England Conservatory of Music (Boston) is a music-focused college. Founded in 1867, the school is the oldest independent music school in the United States. The New England Music School offers pre-university, specialist, undergraduate, master's, doctoral education and continuing education for adults. In addition, the school has partnered with Harvard University and Tufts University to offer a five-year dual degree program. The New England School of Music is a famous cultural center in New England and the only music school in the United States to be a national historical marker. The New England Music School is considered to be the highest in the world. One of the music schools. The New England Conservatory of Music offers: Strings: Violin, Viola, Cello, Double Bass, Guitar, Harp; Wood Tube: Flute, Oboe, Clarinet, Bassoon, Saxophone; Brass and Percussion: Horn of Africa, Small No., trombone, bass large, percussion; keyboard instruments: piano; jazz research, contemporary improvisation and vocal: vocal performances.

We are so lucky to have NEC here in Mass. I've seen many great concerts at the beautiful Jordan Hall, and am in the School of Continuing Education for Jazz. The professors are knowledgeable and approachable. I didn't have the chance or the means to attend a music school after highschool, and the SCE program is a great way to get a formalized education while you are working.

The school also offers The Bridge which is an online publication that advertises gigs and music jobs. It's young and has some growing to do, but it is a very cool tool.

I believe the SCE program is relatively new as it's not that organized yet; everything happens last minute and can change at any second.

Also, I'll confirm that practice rooms are very hard to come by, and often there will be a line of students lingering in the halls in order to fight over a room. For the price, you'd expect there to be more space. That being said the younger students will trash the practice rooms and use them as hang-out spaces. Whenever I go into a room, there's usually writing on the walls, a broken drum set, and food/wrappers everywhere.

Great classical and jazz performances in an exquisite atmosphere, and often free.

Jordan Hall at NEC is Boston's best concert hall. We attend both Handel & Haydn and Odyssey Opera performances here. Many of our favorite chamber music groups are connected to NEC including the Borremeo Quartet.

If you are from the conservatory, you can walk to the main cultural resources, business districts and outdoor recreation areas. Boston has the earliest subway system in the United States, and it is easy to travel inside and outside the city with a strong public transportation network. Both the metro and the bus can reach Logan Airport. Suburban trains can reach the beach, Walden Pond and other places. Trains and cars were opened between Boston and New York, and the train was delivered every hour and arrived four hours later.
The New England Conservatory is also close to Boston's most fashionable shopping district, a busy street with a historic atmosphere. The city of Charles is bordered by the Charles River in the north and the Atlantic Ocean in the east. The city is surrounded by beautiful natural scenery and is also popular with jogging, cycling and sailing enthusiasts.

a small but nice place. Not only local performance but Chinese musician used to performance here. the lobby is small as well but it's is okay to chat there.

Magnificent hall. Not a bad seat in the whole house.
