My husband & I had our first appointment at Wellish Vision Institute last week and honestly it was an amazing experience for the both of us. Going to the Dr is no fun, but Dr. Ortiz and his staff were very friendly, knowledgeable, thorough, and overall made it an easy appointment. You can tell they truly care about their patients & their well being. Definitely recommend this place.

Dr. Mattheis at Wellish Vision Institute is on top of his game! You cannot do better for your eye care. My spouse and I both see him & have found his judgment & professionalism to be exceptional. She recently needed urgent care for an eye infection, & Wellish worked her in without an advance appointment on a busy Friday afternoon. The care provided was on target & she was much improved in less than 24 hrs.
Dr. Wellish and his staff are the best! The doctor is smart and has the most updated technology to check your eyes that I've ever seen at an eye doctors office. I had dry eye, Cataracts, and floaters. All of this caused me to need glasses. He handled it all right there. Has other doctors there to be able to check his opinions. Dr. Ortiz is young and also smart and gifted. The staff are knowledgeable, friendly, young, smart and very thorough. You feel like you've come to the right place for what you need done.
I watch for all signs of professionalism not only from the doctor's staff, but especially how intelligent and knowledgeable the doctors are when I'm getting procedures done. Especially to my eyes. I'd say my procedures were a success, so I am happy. I definitely would refer the Wellish Institute to anyone needing a pro to take care of their eyes. I went in there wearing glasses. I'm not saying everyone will have my experience; but, I no longer need glasses. What more could I ask for. I'm blessed!
Dr Wellish is fantastic. None better. Sadly, the average wait time to see him is 3 1/2-4 hours. Recently, his staff has become less efficient than in the past.
I.e. wrong prescription written out for glasses
Request for medication not sent to pharmacy. Had to call office and have them find out it wasn t sent and had to find the prescription and generate a request.
Waited 1hour before a technician saw me, then 2 more hours taken to room and waituntil Dr Wellish saw me.
Best customer service with a friendly & knowledgable staff. You are welcomed with smile & cheer, have a cup of coffee, relax in a large seated area as the sun shines while you wait.

Very informative at each stage of the appointment. From check-in and through all the pre-exams before being seen by my opthalmologist, each person was very cordial and informative of what they were doing. When first seen by an intern and thereafter the opthalmologist, they both were very profeefessional and concerned of the issues I had with my eyes. Great place to go to care for your eyes. If you jave keratoconus.... do not see anyone except doctor wellish himself. The other doctors have no power over what to do with your eyes. Doctor wellish is the only one you need to see.
I had my cataract surgery performed by Dr. Kent Wellish recently on 10 April 2018.
Dr. Wellish and his team of caring nurses and technicians were very professional and made me very comfortable at the surgery center. The staff prepared me for surgery and made sure I was comfortable. They gave me heated blanket which I thought was very nice. Shortly after, Dr Wellish appeared with his sweet smile and greeted all his patients lined up for surgery that day. That was so reassuring and allayed my anxiety.
It was overall an excellent experience for me from the time I reported to the surgery center right through my procedure. I was discharged with proper instructions and post surgery care.
Yes, I would recommend Dr. Kent Wellish to patients who need cataract surgery.

Great doctors, and make stressful medical conditions less stressful
Honestly every single person was awesome. The doctor was soo kind and caring. I have never met a mor attentuve Doctor and staff.
Saw Dr. Wellish to have the lenses in my eyes replaced as to not have to wear glasses or contacts. They did not use the OCT scanner on my eyes during my visits to make sure my eyes were ok for surgery. They sent me to a retina doctor that didn't do the scan either. 3 months after surgery, they couldn't figure out why my vision wasn't improving. THEN they did the OCT scan to find I had a fluid bubble in the back of my eye - and shouldn't have had the surgery. Turns out they don't like to do the scan because insurance doesn't always pay for it. Now I have to wear contacts AND glasses because one eye is messed up. Most of the staff was nice - but if you ask questions about anything outside of their assembly line routine - they give half assed answers until you tell them to ask the doctors. Because of these people - my eye is forever messed up. They cut corners and some people suffer as a result.
Weellish is a fine Dr. but his associate, Jay Matheis, in my opinion, is absolutely incompetent. I recommend treating with Dr. Wellish only.
Dr. Wellish is an excellent surgeon. I had the LASIK procedure done by him over a month ago. I am seeing better than ever! His supportive staff is very good and efficient as well. Highly recommend Dr. Wellish because he is a corneal specialist and a very skilled surgeon. He is also very detail oriented and meticulous in his assessment and treatment. As an eye care professional, I trust Dr. Wellish with my own eyes!
I saw Dr. Saboori after a recommendation from Dr. Malik (who is great also!) I was very impressed with his knowledge and ability to explain very thoroughly and patiently what his findings and treatment options were. Excellent services from a complete friendly staff as you open the door and check in. I was sent to this Institute for very bad Dry Eyes. After the first exam I was given the procedures needed to correct my Dry Eyes, I started it immediately. I was seeing clear with no blur and no irritation in the first few days. My eyesight has improved after a few weeks have past. I am amazed and impressive by the work done at The Wellish Vision Institute!! My complaint is my time. I have to take 3 hrs off work. I was scheduled at 7am. If you are going to schedule an appointment @ 7am and the tech employee's don't show up until much later, then appts should be made later. If they are supposed to be at work at 7 but show up 7:30 or so, that is just bad management. I refuse to wait. Some of us cannot take this time off work and not be seen at a reasonable time.

It was my first time going here. The wait was a bit long due to all of the testing I had to have done. The office was clean, staff members were extremely nice, and doctor May was very helpful! He didn t make me feel rushed. Overall good experience!
So glad I went here for my lasik. I did my research by asking all my friends, calling and doing consults at other locations in town. I ultimately went with Wellish because I didn't feel like it was a mill. They were professional from staff to the doctors. I am one day post op and I had my follow up this morning and I am seeing 20/15. They were even so considerate bc they coordinated with my husband who picked me up with my little kids in the car. So they walked me out post surgery to ensure I was okay and that he didn't have to go grab me inside the office. I am very pleased with this place and that's a lot to say because I don't do many reviews at all. I felt I was in good hands and my conversations with everyone there were great. My optometrist recommended me there and even after I did my own digging around, I ended up here and so glad I did. I wish I didn't waste all that time doing consults at other places but that's why I'm writing a review to advise my experience was great.
This has been the hardest time in my life dealing with my condition. The whole staff has been nothing but professional, kind, and compassionate. I have never had bad experience with the medical staff nor the doctors. Dr. Wellish wants to see results. He wants to make sure you get the best treatment you could possibly get from a doctor.

Staff is friendly and professional. You are Greeted upon entering and sign in. All of the staff makes eye contact and acknowledges your presence. Everything is explained to you and you are given a chance to ask questions if need be. Wait times are very minimal. Overall, this practice should give other clinics lessons on what great customer service is!

Dr. Mattheis was great. He took the time to answer my questions and explained my condition in detail. The staff was friendly and professional. The office is unlike others I've been to, its beautiful and it even has a dialation room with water, snacks and a TV so that you don't have to go back to the lobby like other offices.
I cannot believe patients are routinely waiting two to four hours after their appoint times to be seen. Our appointment time was 4:15 and my husband wasn't even taken to the back until 5:45. There were many others in the waiting room in the same position and they reported that this was the norm. For the kind of money they are charging you'd think the office staff could at least make a phone call to let patients know when they are running that far behind! I'm sure if we showed up hours late for our appointment there would be a fee. We didn't even get an apology!

Every person from the multiple different offices I had appointments at treated me with respect, and were the friendliest office staff I have ever interacted with. They operate efficiently and as a result I was in and out quickly. They turned what could have been a scary experience into an exciting one with an amazing outcome. Long time patient - 20 years. Doctors and staff here are the best. Dr. Ortiz is my doctor. He's fantastic. Dr. Ortiz' education and experience is extensive. A Las Vegas native, it's great to see a doctor practicing in his home town. I get great care from Dr. Ortiz and Wellish Vision staff. I've never had a problem with my insurance or billing in the 20 years I've been coming here. Although a long time patient, my official diagnosis is not glaucoma. I have been on a glaucoma "watch list" for awhile now, getting tests and scans several times per year. My family history for glaucoma is extensive: Mom had glaucoma and went blind; one sister has had it for 30 years and is almost blind; younger sister was diagnosed about 6 months ago and has already had surgery on her eyes. So I was worried when my pressures went up suddenly last year and my vision had also deteriorated a little. At my appointment, Dr. Ortiz explained the results of the tests and scans on my eyes, showing me exactly what was happening and a good course to take. The results showed that it was time to begin taking drops as a preventative to help preserve my vision as long as possible. Long story short, I have faith in Dr. Ortiz and myself to manage my eye care, no matter what happens. And yes, the wait times can be long! They have huge TVs, a nice lobby and waiting areas, plenty of seating, even coffee if you like! So if you have a family history of glaucoma, don't wait. Go to Wellish!
Horrible place after waiting 5 minutes to schedule appointment I got disconnected call again I put on hold again repeat my information to the next girl three times over to three different people constantly put on hold terrible customer service. I would give a zero if possible. Will not return there again when they can't even do a simple thing as schedule an appointment. Which by the way a thirteen yr old can do.
The best and most nerve-racking decision I've ever made especially being a pilot. It's been almost 2 weeks and I couldn't be happier with the procedure and its results. I had severe dry eye for several years before seeing Dr Mattheis. I had seen other eye doctors and I had two surgeries to repair the damage the dry eye had caused but they couldn't figure out how to fix the dry eye. I thought this is the way it was going to be for the rest of my life. Doctor Mattheis examined my eyes and said a bunch of words to his nurse that I don't know what they mean..... He told me "don't worry we're going to fix you up". Over the course of the next year he put me through some cutting-edge treatments (prokera, IPL, and lipiflow) and my eyes started functioning the way they're supposed to again. I can't express how amazing it feels to not be in constant pain. Dr. Matheis is amazing I'm so happy he's my doctor.
