I would like to write a review about game warden Mike LuBen. I called him on Saturday 4/20 .At 1:10 pm about problems with Atv's at Timber point riding on hiking trails where it is posted no off road vehicle. Was trying to take a hike and about got run over .They have removed a post on south end of lake and cut barred wire fence on the north. Never showed up. If you will not in force the laws you should not be a game warden
My experiences at Mormon Island near Grand Island NE has been frustrating and deeply upsetting. The staff (Nebraska Game and Parks employees) does absolutely the bare minimums at this state park. The staff neglect to do Routine checks around the park and Fails to enforce all rules and guidelines set for this park and rules set by the Nebraska game and Parks commission. They refuse to enforce the rules of where kayaks are launched Refused to force the strict prohibited use of flotation devices in the lake and enforcing strict prohibited consumption of alcohol on the beaches or in the swimming area.
If there was an option for no stars, that s what it would be, however there is not so...
-We ve spent an hour driving around Branched Oak and Pawnee to find a spot to fish, no luck because the logic with these parks is to gate off parts of the lake so that large amounts of people congregate in the areas that ARE open. That s really helpful , especially during a time when social distancing should be implemented.
Super disappointed with the way I was spoken to regarding a refund. I had called the number posted, when I got through a woman gave me another number to call - which belonged to a cell phone of a gentleman who doesn't even work for the company. I called back spoke to a nice man who got me transferred to another women who works with refunds. This woman said she does not handle any kind of refunds, only her supervisor does and that she would transfer me to her. Once I got transferred to the supervisor I began to explain my situation and was interrupted a number of times. My issue was about an incorrect reservation date made through the website. She told me I wasn't paying attention and that their website had no issues. I explain again that I knew what dates I had chosen and that when I had put my card number in and paid for it, I got a notification on the screen that the dates I chose weren't available and it reserved me for the next weekend. I was told again, there is no issues on their end and that it was my fault for my lack of attentiveness. I then got upset because I wasn't being taken seriously. She then told me that because "I didn't yell at her too bad", she would give me 1 reservation days worth of my money back on top of the cancellation refund, which is very nice but I just wish she would have been more patient, understanding and calm with me.
My children tried camping again this year at Blue Stem Lake. Unfortunately, the noise, cussing, partying at all hours up into 4:00 a.m. continued again this year. It really is too bad------this is a nice area down by the water. Next to them was a young family with a 3 year old and a 5 week old. I am sure they enjoyed the wild night as well. Probably everyone that was camping heard everything. We pay a yearly park permit and a camping fee and this is a Nebraska Game and Parks camp ground. It needs patrolling!!!!! Not a happy camper after this past weekend. Third year of this--------
