This place is a gem in southern New Mexico to go see. The workers in the Sunspot Observatory are helpful and friendly. The place is full of interesting plaques explaining the history of the Observatory and the crown jewel is in plain sight - the Sunspot Observatory. Well worth the trip up the hill from Alamogordo to see this place.

The drive was better then the destination. The valley was very hazy and the facility had a worn out about to close feel about it. The 2 staff members on site were both nice and helpful. The seemed lonely up there. Ask about the mercury bearing if you go. The engineer in me found that to be interesting.

Worth the drive. The view from the observeratory down towards Alamogordo is something you will never see anywhere else. The staff at the sunspot museum and gift shop are more than helpful. If y'all get a chance go and support them it's a good day trip grab a picnic lunch and go or when you leave sunspot stopping Cloudcroft there is specific rim great stir fry many other places to eat..and things to do

This place was a fun visit. The small museum seems geared to kids but still includes interesting facts. Our favorite part was the walking trail. Beautiful views, could see for miles, mountains, trees and White Sands. Well worth the time & the $5/car entry fee.

Very informative and friendly staff. My friend is handycap so the security guard was nice enough to drive us up alittle bit closer to the telescope. The scenery road getting to this place is all worth it.
