It was beautiful. We enjoyed the walk path that was open. A portion was closed under construction. Being our first trip it was good. I expected much more at the evening show after waiting for 5 hours. The sound was not solid, music low volume, lights were also dim on the mountain. We couldnt get any good pictures. My husband and I travelled a long way, love American history and hope all is fixed for others to enjoy. Best wishes. God bless America!
Absolutely awesome. It's beautiful, patriotically inspiring, well organized.
A MUST see while you are in the Black Hills . You will also want to see Crazy Horse.
Other than the consttuction, it was beautiful as usual. No trails were open.
Really fantastic to see. But watch out for the gift shops. Souvenirs can get to be costly. Ask my wife.
Nice place to visit. Definately a national landmark you need to see at least once in your lifetime.
Show up later in the evening. Long enough to see the museum pieces and stay for the closing ceremony where they turn the lights on the mountain. That makes it even more beautiful.
A wonderful monument and park to visit! The sights and views of nature getting to Mt. Rushmore are simply splendid in addition to the monument itself. Very educational as well. This is a must stop for anyone who wants to know about America's history.
There was construction going on while I was there but was still a very cool experience
Good place to visit. Spend some time walking around.
Beautiful carving but it's one of those places you see it and don't plan to go back
Amazing place to visit. A must see. They had some unannounced construction that limited access otherwise I would have given all stars.
We have been many times before. We brought my father and brother there for a visit. We had a lot of fun and the people were very kind.
An iconic American landmark. Definitely worth a visit.
This was my second time here and it's just as awesome as I remember it being! Great view, great food, and everything is reasonably priced! Come hungry!
I've been here several time and am impressed every time. Anything less than a 5 star review would be an insult to the people who labored to build this awesome tribute to our American history and pioneers. Our tour guide, David Gafney, eloquently told the story of the 4 Presidents who led our nation.
Great experience!!! Would go back every time i am in the state. Loved the fact that they have the virgin islands flag and description posted woth the other flags.
Bucket list item checked off. Great experience. Be prepared to walk. Recommend going at night in order to catch the lighting of the monument.
Our family (kids 5-12) really enjoyed Mount Rushmore. We went right away on a Wednesday morning and got in and parked prett quick. Part of the walking trail was closed for repairs, so that was unfortunate. If we were to do it again, we would probably take the Iron Mountain Highway (16a) to Rushmore. It's an incredible drive!
Absolutely wonderful, although the presidents are not properly lighted at night this is an iconic place worth going to. My wife and I camped out in the forest after our visit and listened to wolves howl all night, scary yet beautiful evening in South Dakota.
Nice place. Short, easy trails. Can't get as close as before, but still a great vantage point.
Very Amazingly done. Such detail and history. Must see.
There was no indication on their phone message or their website of it being under construction. There was a big construction fence that hit the view and made photo taking terrible
Beautiful monument and interesting visitors center and museum. Good trails for a closer view.
Such history. Amazing views from the presidential trail. Also saw evening lighting ceremony and was impressed.
Very impressive! We spent several hours walking the area and we watched the show which starts after the sun goes down. Very informative and awe- inspiring
This is such a beautiful area! We had a great time here and the surrounding parts.
Amazing place!
kid Friendly as well
I was somewhat disappointed at the monument Because I just came from the natural beauty of the badlands. It is amazing just the same that some one carved that all so high up and so large. There was a highlight of an original carver in the gift shop signing books.
Beautiful scenery, there are people walking around offering to take pictures of you in front of mount Rushmore. Wonderful souvenirs.
I was here many years ago and was impressed with the entire facility. The whole place is very well laid out, their guides are very helpful and it was overall a very interesting place. If you're here I definitely recommend to hop over the Crazy Horse though and you can see the size difference in these sculptures.
Under construction, but still worth the visit. Breathtaking especially at night. If you go, make sure to get some ice cream and just take it all in.
Haven t been to Rushmore for many years. Was really nice to see & impressed with all of the up grades. The parking & entrance great. Food prices are high, but it goes to Rushmore so I didn t have any problem paying.
Awesome. You can get close enough to look right up their nostrils.
The parking is decently organized but plan to spend at least 30 minutes there. The parking pass is for 2 days and about 15 dollars.RV parking was kinda difficult. Not pet friendly. Gift shop is very pricey , but really neat to have experienced the faces. The view was great and people were friendly
Just a one-of-a-kind unique tourist attraction. Highly recommended if you are traveling along I-90 as its only about 30 minutes off the road. There is a must-see film about Mount Rushmore in the theatre located in the memorial.
I have been wanting to visit Mount Rushmore since I was in 5th grade. And honestly, I was a bit disappointed. Yes, it's pretty amazing to see. However, you could only go so far due to construction. Trail was closed off at a certain point. The best part was hearing the story from the Indian...he was such a fantastic storyteller and my heart hurt for his people.
A lot of stuff to do, and the best part is only paying $10 for parking. The staff are very friendly. I do recommend going on the President's Trail and starting on the side with the steps. Otherwise you're going to need to carry strollers when the kids get tired of walking.
The fourth-grade pass 'doesn't work here' according to a girl who works at the gate 'for a year.' Her supervisor finally explained that we were paying for parking, not entrance into the park. The sculpture was amazing, the path was fun to hike on, and Thomas Jefferson's ice cream was delicious!
Nice 1 day trip. Ziplining/ropes course/slides for kids day activity couple miles away.
The monument is cool to see, but you can get better views driving and stopping along the road. It is over-hyped and underwhelming.
An AWESOME place to visit to see with your eyes.....beautiful......
The drive through the mountains was scenic. Lots of neat rock formations and wildlife. Because it was off-season, we didn't have to pay for parking. Wild mountain goats made an appearance right in front of the monument.
Looks ugly, shouldn t have been made, doesn t belong to us, give it back t
Love this place! What talent to make something this huge look exactly like these 4 presidents! I like the walkway with all the state flags too. Makes me feel very patriotic as I walk between them.
I'm glad we picked to come on the off season. Just a little sad it was under construction but we will just have to do another road trip.
A MUST SEE!!! Everyone should see this spectacular monument on the side of The Black Hills mountain. Four of our past-presidents faces are carved in the mountain Washington, Lincoln, Jefferson, and Teddy Roosevelt. The ceremony at night honored veterans who have served our country and was very emotional for the men that participated. They also had spotlights shining on the mountain side @ night illuminating the past Presidents faces. Very cool indeed and very patriotic!
The park isn't implementing social distancing at all. None of the rangers are wearing masks. Everyone is extremely crowded together. Not safe at all. I really wish I hadn't gone in. Wasn't worth the covid.
I must say, this work of art is quite spectacular. At first visit, it didn t impress me. But when I walked around and looked at it from a few angles and whatnot, I Started to love it.
Kids love it, they liked being able to tell us what they had learned about it.
The place is under construction. I m guessing it will be a much better experience when the grounds are complete in a year or so
Amazingly Beautiful! Recommend going early so its not too crowded.
Most amazing pizza place I have been too in a long time
Closed for renovations is a pain, trail close also for renovations, you would think the would renovate small portions at a time. Only 1 trail kind lame, could you more places for people to explore around the monument!
BEAUTIFUL! I wish it wasn t under construction while I was here, but it still was pretty incredible. Beautiful nature all around as well as nature trail. Gift shop was big and had lots to offer. Glad to say that I ve been to Mount Rushmore now!
Good to see once. Not as grand as I thought, cool to see, large crowds. Go early or late in the day. Parking is not free.
It's a joy to see folks of all races there. The sculpture itself is amazing, and Thomas Jefferson's ice cream recipe made a huge hit with me.
Visiting Mount Rushmore was definitely a great experience. I think it should be on everyone s bucket list
Best public urinal in the world would recommend 100% and only 10 dollars wow.
The main amphitheater isn't open so you're missing out on about a quarter of it.
Had to pay $10 to find out they are doing renovations and you cant go close.
A great piece of history with lots of information on hand to learn about this history, not just of this area, but of the United States. The monuments are a wonder to behold.
The whole time spent there was great. A beautiful place and the drive from rapid city was well worth the the flights from the UK.Growing up you would often see mount Rushmore on tv or see it in books. On the drive to see it I was wondering if it would live up to expectations. And the answer was a undoubted YES.
Little smaller than I imagined but it was still amazing. Got to meet Nick the last remaining driller... On the way in we saw the Crazy Horse monument. WOW
No need to park and go inside. There is a spot on the highway where you can stop and get the views you see in my pics.
First visit with my family on a road trip through so much beauty! Bucket list must!!! So much fun! Gorgeous views!
Great experience. There were a lot of park service workers and volunteers who were incredibly knowledgeable about the mountain and the history. There was some construction going on which closed some areas while we were there, but that happens. The nature trail is not possible with a stroller, so don't bother. The president's trail is listed as wheelchair accessible, but the only way to get there during our visit was to go along the nature trail, so we didn't make it very far with a stroller.
Amazing part of America's history, we went during the day and came back that night and enjoyed the experience.
Sucked the construction was on but an amazing place. So beautiful relaxing and wonderful place
walk way has work during the winter I would advice against going there. few other places at the park were closed for renovation.
Visited here back in 2005 but really didn't get the full experience and now that our kids are older and can enjoy and remember it, we came back and we are so glad that we did! :)
Ad usual, breathtaking. An American icon and treasured masterpiece, we come often and never leave disappointed. April is a great time to visit. The crowds are less, the air is super fresh and there is wildlife everywhere! Hats off to our forestry crew, rangers, and DNR for maintaining.
LOVELY place , The Badlands and Black Hills are a thrill!!!! It's really cool , Just pray for clear sky's .
Nice place, if you are planning on visiting, take the Presidential Trail. It is a path you can take around Mount Rushmore to see it from different angles, take nice pictures, etc. I would also recommend bringing a water bottle and going in the morning or late afternoon to avoid the large crowds.
Amazing. I can't imagine all the work that went into carving this.
This park is cool, but waaaaaay overhyped. It s also wicked expensive. If you don t come for an event then you basically either do a short hike, gaze upon the beauty of Rushmore, or spend a fortune on concessions. Still a must see! :)
My kids and I loved visiting this national treasure. The staff and park Rangers were so nice to us.It is currently offline season so we pretty much had the place to ourselves.Everyone should visit this great place at least once in your life.It is a great symbol of American .
So if you think this is only some carved out mountains, you are wrong! They have an amphitheater, a regular theater, exhibits, book stores, Thomas Jeffersons ice cream, and much more,
The only bummer is the parking fee that we didn't pay; we found a way to park for free,
Also if you make it to Mt Rushmore, check out the following places too...
* Wind cave, one of the nicer Caves around.
* Iron Mountain scenic bypass, the tunnel is on that road.
* Custer park, you might find some buffaloes grazing...
* the badlands National Park,
* some buffalo jerky in hot springs @black Hills meat,
A truly impressive thing to see with your own eyes. The museum they have there is really cool too. You might just spend a few hours here but there are lots pkg things to do in SD. Take a trip too see it.
I lived in the Black Hills since I was 2 yrs old to 16. I'm almost 70 and it still amazes me. You have to see it lit up at night it's worth your time.
