I love the quiet and beautiful scenery. It's also a joy to watch the deer lazily roam around, and their babies running and scampering around.

A beautiful park and setting. There are markers and artillery pieces clearly visible but if you choose to do some hiking you will see many more along trails and in the wooded areas around. Many times we got out to look at one marker, only to see more 20-30 yards distant that beckoned further exploration. My 19 year old daughter, who had only a vague interest in CW history prior to this visit wants us to do an entire tour now.
This place is awesome. You can learn a lot about history here. And the diversity of this place is great..you can bike ride. Hike the trails . picnic. Climb the watch tower and see a birds eye view if they fields below. I think they may still have the horse stables to rent horses for a ride through the park ...if they don't.. You can bring your own and make a day if it .
Love this place. Peaceful. Hallowed ground. And to go for a hike, run, or bike ride through the quieter streets, passing by the endless monuments, this is a great weekend morning. Then go for ice cream in historic Chickamauga.
Plan on at least 2 hours.
Definitely start at the Visitor center to get your bearings.
Peaceful setting suited to the memorials for those that died in the war between the states.
You can drive and get out of the car for points of interest, but you will share the road with walkers and bike riders.
It's a worthwhile visit.
Wife and I loved this place. You can feel the history in your bones. Nice welcome center/ museum. Beautiful grounds, hard to believe such a deadly battle took place there
We visit most weeks to walk our dogs and take in some history along the way. There are endless miles of trails. We like to go at dusk when you are likely to see deer.
This is a wonderful place to visit, even for us locals! I even love to just drive through the battlefield about 4:30-5:00 pm and try to get pictures of the deer. It's a terrific place to spend the day.
The park was wonderful and informative. I found the monuments very touching. This was a terrible event in our history and must be preserved and the memories of the men who fought and died here should never be forgotten. It was a shame the visitor center closed so early. We didn't get to experience it.
Greatly enjoyed the caravan car battlefield tour. Our guide (Chris) was excellent and provided backstories of those who participated in the battle.
