I guess if you're into art then this place may be for you....i'm not and I was glad it was free entry. Saying that there where quite a few pictures that I recognised so I guess it is quite a significant collection. I can't really say more than that. If you're into art then go coz it's free but if art ain't your thing then don't bother

I took my 5 year old son to visit as an escape from the christmas market. It was brilliant you don't have to worry about knowing your artistry, amazing paintings and old chests from more than 200 years ago are in abundance and pieces even the average eye can appreciate. Artistry done well well sized rooms with loads of seating throughout. I will be going back for another look.

The interior is simple, but it has a nice, clean and compact impression.
The cafe also has a feeling of opening because it is located on the Scott Monument side of the park facing the park.
The collection is quite spectacular, and there are many works by Scottish artists, as well as works by famous Dutch, French, and Italian artists.
It may be interesting to discover the works of Scottish artists who are not yet familiar to Japan.
Among them, my favorite was the uncle in a skirt (laughs)

Just amazing. The art on display here is fantastic. We spent all morning in here and could have stayed longer. From Rembrandt to Raphael, Van Gogh to Turner, and everything in between. Just beautiful.

LOVED IT! My entire art history book on the wall. Jewel of a museum :)

Bit confusing where-to-go etc., but I m sure that s just the case during the renovation. There are lockers but you have to pay for them.

I really loved the art there. Renessaince with some medieval paintings. I think it has a good collection and it is not too big. It's good for tourists at the end of their energies. Best lemon cake in town in the cafe.

The Scottish National Art Galllery is a fantastic place, which houses beautiful and inspirational works of art. However, the art courses they run for adults leave alot to be desired. I have frequently attended the figure drawing course taken by Graeham Flack , and his method of teaching can be extremely off puting to many people. Whilst he`s always been okay to me, I have seen women leaving his class very upset and on occassion in tears, never to return again. It takes courage to do art, and people need encouragement rather than being put off by a tutor who seems to enjoy making derogatory comments, in particular to the women. I would complain to the course co-ordinator, but since she seems very friendly with Graeham I doubt if anything would be done.

Visiting this museum was not between the plans but due to the need to find a bathroom and since the entrance is free I entered. I was pleasantly surprised also thanks to the presence of works by Leonardo, Tiziano, Raffaello, Rembrandt. The museum is quite small, so you can see it in no time.

A world class musuem for a world famous city. I visited when the upstairs rooms were showing an exhibition on the Impressionists, and loved it. The two Tiepolo paintings in the main collection and 'Lady Agnew of Lochnaw' by John Singer Sargent were also wonderful to see.

Small collection, it is possible to make the visit very fast.
Super organized place.
The place with Impressionist works is on the second floor with a work by Monet and one by Van Gough. The room however is well closed, with no air circulation. Because of the carpet, I was a bit allergic, and another guy was also coughing a lot.

The maintenance of the frames is very good. The entry of the fixed pictures is Franca so it is worth a voluntary help. In addition, there is always a periodic exposure in a separate entry that can also be consulted the exposure of the period.

There are a lot of works and they are on display. The gallery should be in the back building, and the backpack should be hung in front of you. There are many places to sit down. On the second floor, you can see Monet More
