Fantastic walking tour. Amazing the amount of history in such a small area. Highly recommended! Great for about 10 yrs+... Younger than that probably a bit boring.

We brought our 5,3, and 1.5 year old here and had a great time. A lot of the experience went over their head but the oldest walked away with little nuggets of knowledge. The best part for them was the signers statues. There is a deep feeling of kinship and appreciation towards these men who risked everything for our freedom. The kids felt that too without a lot of coaching. I introduced them to each one and they gave unprompted big hugs to Ben Franklin and George Washington that I caught on camera.
As an adult I could spend all day in there reading and listening to everything. There s so much interactive material and exhibits. We live in Jersey and was able to get in free with a library museum pass. Parking is still pricey. There s a great place to have a packed lunch on the second floor south side with tables and chairs. You can see the lawn and independence hall.
Loads of other great things to do near by: the mint, independence hall, liberty bell.
you will love and appreciate more your country after visiting this museum
They have a great live performance, which walks viewers through the history of the Constitution and what led to its creation. After this, you get to wander as long as you like through interactive screens detailing the life of people through US history. It's very informative, very interesting, and great for children. There are also a lot of opportunities for photos. My personal favorite was seeing who could vote and who couldn't throughout history, which could be done through touchscreens mounted on the walls.
A relatively small but informative museum. It'll take 2-3 hours if you want to look at everything in details.
The show was pretty clever and informative. The exhibits were also very educational without being overwhelming. Definitely worth stopping in to get a little history lesson/ brush up on the history of this nation. Some interactive exhibits to help those that need something to touch!
The walls are blue for good reason. There's certainly a bias as far as the telling of history - including the emphasis on certain points.
One volunteer, George, engaged visitors and asked them their opinion of the sitting president. When one guest said that she felt he was doing a good job, George decided to list the personal failings of the sitting president. When I approached and asked him if it was his opinion or that of the NCC, he said it was his own even though he was wearing a polo with the NCC logo and a lanyard with the same logo and his name and picture. He insisted that he was exercising his right to free speech.
I've reported the incident and was assured that the organization is non-partisan, but I doubt it will go any further than that. George does have the right to free speech, even when he's representing an organization that has a different mindset from his own. What George does not have the freedom from are the repercussions of that exercise. One repercussion is that I'm exercising MY right to free speech and leaving a one-star review of the NCC because I was standing in a room with life-sized reproductions of the founding fathers and had to listen to his leftest propaganda while representing the organization (and by extension everyone who supports the NCC).
Good variety and design of historical exhibits that engage on a educational, as well as visual, level.
This is one of the best museums I've ever been to! It's very engaging and really gives you insight into how our constitution was not only formed but how it has evolved as a living document with its people.
I guess the other reviewers who found it boring or only spent 30 minutes there didn't go through the very powerful theater performance, vote, take the citizenship test, sit on the Supreme Court or read anything. It easily can take someone 4 hours or more to do and see everything there.
The museum isn't for the very young, but 12+ year olds will get it and enjoy it. Definitely a great museum for the city in which the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution were drafted.
Very educational and fun for all ages. There's many hands on exhibits and there wasn't a dull moment.
Especially loved the room with the signers of the Constitution. Can walk right up to Ben Franklin and look him in the eyes. Touch the hands of the signers. Look at the lines in their hands. Stand right next to George Washington's statue and marvel at his height. It is a very powerful place that perfectly captures the feelings of that time when the signers were debating and making our Constitution and nation.
Any history nerd will live this museum and great interactive things for the kids
It is okay to look around little museum and get bored easy.
Impressive museum to learn about the history of the US Constitution. Many displays and treatises covering how the Constitution developed, changed etc. Some honest observations by the contributors as well.
If you are into political history etc. this is well recommended
Great place to visit while in Philly especially with kids good learning experience
Excellent. American history made alive. One criticism. No attention given to Indigenous peoples - first Americans.
The statues are creepy, it's like we're all standing there waiting for them to come back alive. But it is still very interesting.
I was very please during my visit to the National Constitution Center in early 2011. The staff was very courteous and enthusiastic of all the areas of the museum. This is an emotional place and I was moved by all the great history of our country and all the sacrifice of people. I loved the display of all the state flags upon entering the museum. There are very good interactive displays of all time periods of American history and very nice souvenirs to remember your visit to the trip. This is a must see in Philly.
It was a great place to work and visit. I will also love this place.
We took the kids to the National Constitution Center on election day. Great way to teach them about the history of the United States through the ages. There were additional activities for the children, including face painting. Highly recommended for families with older children, as little ones will grow impatient with the amount there is to explore.
The National Constitution Center is an absolute must-see for anyone visiting Philadelphia. The live show, "Freedom Rising", was outstanding, as was the recounting of America's history through billboards, pictures, and interactive games on the upper level. I will definitely go back next time I'm in Philly, and I'll be recommending this to all my friends and family.
Truly phenomenal display. Signers Hall is not to miss.
Love the history of the Constitution of the United States!!!
Great views, very interesting place. Love the presidential pics, the statues, the hall of flags... Very cool
In its current incarnation, there is a lot of empty space. There's a lot of potential, however, and the facility itself is excellent.
I very much liked the living news and other character actor show, which are far more engaging than videos. It is mostly empty space and needs more interactive exhibits.
All that relates to the independence and the constitution of the Usa is very well represented
Stop by this place if you're looking for a fun way to spend the day and learn some history. The staff is incredibly knowledgable and eager to ensure you enjoy your visit. The surrounding area has tons of coffee shops and restaurants, too.
Very worthwhile, Learn about where, when, why development and signing of the Constitution. Proud to be an American
Great. Recommend. I still have my mini folding constitution. Be sure to get more than one so you don't have to pay $2.95 to have one shipped to you. I know, it is stupid how you have to pay to get to document that America is based on.
Great place. Very clean, great exhibits. Awesome for kids and adults. I loved the Rome and America exhibit, I wish they bring that back. Staff is very friendly, helpful and knowledgable. Located with other great attractions. I highly recommend.
I work in Center City and park here when I don't take the train It is safe, secure, well lit, clean garage with entrance on Race street which is rear of facility. contrary to other posts I find this to be a LEFT leaning place based upon the election and the topics, events hosted, invited speakers, and it is in one of the farthest LEFT cities in the country. politics aside this is convenient and interesting place that is easier and more affordable than most all others in Center City. ENJOY, and be sure to tour the US Mint for FREE across the street. weekdays only 9-4 with Saturdays available between Memorial and Labor Day
I have been here twice and both times was extremely impressed with the live show. It is very well done.
I wanted to have a copy of our constitution. In perilous times it is good to have the rule book.
Great theater show, somewhat disappointed in the Hamilton exhibit, too focused on his duel with Burr
They did a excellent job of exploring the Constitution.
This place is nothing more than a right-wing indoctrination facility. No educational value at all here. Complete waste of my time and money! I should have known better when I saw the "DeVos" name as a donor.
We were there for a wedding and it was awesome. The acoustics could be a little bit Better when having a live band but overall it was an excellent experience.
Fantastic show of American history. Freedom Rising show is a must-see. Plan to spend a number of hours here if you want to get the full experience.
Great place. All American citizens should visit this place and learn our history since it's not really taught anymore.
Always a great place to visit as nd l earn. Their America Rising production us FANTASTIC. Well worth the visit.
Great exhibit in a cool and relaxing environment. Makes me proud to be an American!
Definitely recommend that you go and see this, it's just under $15, and has five exhibits inside which even Sandra DayOonner says is well worth seeing!
The building is very nice and a nice staff. Bronze presidents are impressive. Very educational
We the People is a great performance! Learn about America's political history, how laws are made, the judicial system, influential Americans, pivotal times in our history. Many interactive exhibits!
Very fun and interactive experience. Lots to see and would recommend to tourist!
History throughout the years and life size statues.
We learned a lot and it was really interesting. It kept my kids' interest the whole time too!
With all the historical elements in the area, I was expecting to see the real Constitution in here.
I loved this museum. It's informative without being dry. It takes an insightful, unbiased view of America's founding document and applies it throughout the ages.
My one criticism: the building is much larger than actual museum.
I love to visit the National Constitution Center! It is perfect place to bring out of town guests.
Amazing grandson had to read everything could of been therr all day
The hall of signers and the movie/live action presentation was spectacular! So much information to see. A must see in Philly!
