Natal Zoological Gardens Review

The zoo has sadly gone down hill. Needs a major clean up and maintenance to most cages. Very filthy

Lovely but some of the animals seem neglected. Was a little shocked for my small children to have to see a miscarriaged pig

I didn't really enjoy because of weather. Hope next time.

Awesome place to take the family and see stunning exotic animals like Tigers, Lions, Chimpanzees, Orangutans and a variety or other animals as well as birds. The place has many spots to have a picnic just beware of the flys.

A great adventure right in the heart of Pietermaritzburg. Many animals to see.

Always a fun visit. Would be great if the place had a revamped look though. Animals seem to decrease. Wasn't pleased to find that the giraffe was no more. Would be fun to have guides and a little more interaction. A lot could be done to help boost this KZN attraction.

The Zoo was neat, well maintained and Healthy animals to view without the fear of being mauled or eaten!
I did go on the African safari and ensured that it was a quick well paced drive through past the lions. Was a little afraid as we were told that the young lions tend to race with the vehicle if you drive a little fast. Then it's Game On!!!

The place is bad.am not even willing to give one star, animals are not taken care of .thier grass was so untidy. No one is watching or assisting visitors. Picnic space was so untidy.with one mini tuckshop .not even a security guard to help.the list is endless.

Was expensive. No upkeep of grounds. Animals looked sad

Make sure you have cash for the little shop. Can't pay with your card for less than R120.

Fun filled day seeing the animals and birds. Some of the bigger animals require more space to move around.

Our 3yr loved the tigers and wanted to take one home.

Didn't go into the zoo, but the moon park is not that special. Very small enclosure. It's a 2 minute drive through. I guess die someone who had never seen lions it will be special.

it was my first time there and the kids enjoy it ,but I wish there was someone to guide us !

ZERO STARS. Horrible conditions, majority of the enclosures didn't even have water for the animals, litter everywhere including in the enclosures, animals are in bad condition and the enclosures are not suitable for the animals.

My first visit to the zoo and I'd like to proudly admit it was quite enjoyable for me. Although I really wanted to be able to pet a tiger or lion cub I know its asking a bit to much. The place itself was rather beautiful and I enjoyed every minute of being there.

Absolutely horrific place. I'm amazed that people are rating this place with five stars! The tigers living conditions are sad and inhumane. What an exotic creature is thrown in a little cage with little space, the rabbits have a bigger enclosure than some of the tigers. There's little or no shade for some of them (tigers) and the weather conditions here in Durban is quite extreme. This place needs to be shut down. People going here need to open their eyes to the reality of things and not be blinded to the fact that you are seeing animals you normally don't. They are suffering and it's such a tragedy that we are not doing anything about it.
