Horrible customer service. Our online account never seemed to work properly and their phone operators are at times rude and combative. It's a shame because on the few occasions we needed tech support to come to our home, they have been wonderful and easy to work with. It's just a painful process getting the appointment set up. There also seems to be an internal disconnect because one department told us our contract was satisfied and we no longer under any obligation, but today when we canceled our service I was told we signed a 3 year agreement and was being held to a buy out, which I questioned, leading to the rep to get combative. I immediately asked her why she was speaking to me in such a way, and all of sudden she "took care of the buy out" and let me cancel our account. It was honestly such a confusing, upsetting and questionable experience. I will never recommend or use this service again.
Update on Dec 7, 2019: I upgraded my review from 1 to 3 stars. My Alarm Center got back to me and cancelled my contract. It was a bigger hassle than it should have been, but they did do what I asked.

I got rid of my old alarm system installed 11 years ago and monitored by My Alarm Center for the last 5 years. It was time to upgrade it so I shopped around and installed a new one. I called My Alarm Center to cancel my service and they said I could not because I had renewed my contract a few months earlier and it could not be terminated within a 2 year contract period. I'm paying for service I will never receive! Do not do business with this company!
PS: My Alarm Center, please don't reply with empty platitudes. If you care about your reputation, just cancel the contract like I asked and stop making me pay for 1.5 years of service I will never receive.
Upgrading my current system went much faster than I expected. The technician (Chuck) was very efficient and knowledgeable. My upgraded system was installed without a problem and all my questions or concerns were answered.
Been a customer for over 15 years. On 26 August one of our smoke alarms began to alarm for a few seconds about every 8 hours. Called tech support the next morning. I was told that alarm was beyond life expectancy and needs to be replaced. I was then given the option of replacing the wired units myself or scheduling a service visit. Rather than waiting for a service call I said I would replace the unit myself. I asked if any main stream wired alarm would work and was told yes and to call tech support after to get the new alarms on our system. I changed out two wired alarms and then called tech support. I was then told that ONLY those smoke alarms sold by and installed by The Alarm Center will work. A bit miffed I called consumer support to complain. Sent to tech support. Tech support then told me that the alarm might be working. If I could light a small fire under the detector to see if they saw a signal he could confirm. Really! He also commented that I should upgrade our systems wireless anyway and then transferred me to the resolution department. Then had the displeasure to speak to one of the most condescending rude person in recent memory. She insisted our 15 year old, builder installed, battery operated detectors were the detectors tied into our system and not the hard wired ones. At that point I hung up and have started to look at alternative alarm companies. You would think My Alarm Center would like to keep customers. Obviously not part of their business plan. No wonder the recent bankruptcy filing. Frankly I don t think reorganizing is going to work with this level of customer support.
UPDATE: Don't set any automatic payment with this business, because if you object to whatever they charge you, they keep withdrawing the money from your account. You don't have the option to cancel the automatic payment on the website and you will have to call them. Although they give you promises that this will end, they turn into other cards you set or secondary payment in their system to get the money. I have been in such hassles for three months now after I ended the service with them.
If I have the opportunity to give this company less than 1 star, I would have done it. The sales rep. who installed the system for us almost two years ago has never mentioned anything that if we discontinued the service,, there will be a buyout plan. He had me sign on his tablet and I trusted the details he revealed and never thought that he will "hide" other details. Now, when I asked to discontinue the service, I found that I have to pay more than $ 600 (I set up a plan and pay them because it was my mistake to trust the guy and sign blindly. However, I thought that I was dealing with a reputable name, yet apparently it was not) . This is almost fraud and very disappointing. I encourage anyone not to think about this company as a security service provider.
Absolutely the worst company. They installed a alarm in my house n made me sign a 3 year contract. One year into the contract the communication board stopped working and they wanted to charge me $500 to fix something that shouldn t have broken. If someone sells you a system it should at least last as long as the contract. They said if I sign another 3 year contract they will only charge me $200. I wouldn t sign a one day contract with these thieves. STAY AWAY
