Went here with my girlfriend in August 2020 while visiting Sibiu City.

It was definitely one of the nicest days we had there and I will tell you from the start that it definitely is worth paying the 25Lei entrance.

This is the biggest open air museum in Europe (as the news say at this time). It definitely is quite big and you should plan to spend here about 5-6 hours to visit about everything inside (even more if you like to stare and read everything).

We enjoyed the quietness and the old vibe that the museum offers. And also we enjoyed the fact that over there the temperature was lower than in the city (it was a really hot summer day).

If you plan to spend your day here, there are also a few restaurants where you can eat. We were lucky and had the opportunity to eat traditional food at an event that was organized inside the museum that day. We tried some Goulash which was really good, but these events aren't organized that often I guess, so you'll have to stick to the restaurant offerings.

All in all, if you like spending your day more actively and you enjoy seeing old houses and other neat inventions then you won't regret visiting this place. Who knows, you might be lucky enough to eat some traditional food from locals there (like we did).

If you have to visit just one spot in Transylvania, Romania, Eastern Europe or even Europe, let this be it!!

You will be transported back to the medieval ages with the life size infrastructure from those times. This museum provides the best atmosphere for quiet contemplation and appreciation of beauty.

The quaint village life from the previous era comes to life before your eyes. You can guess the way of life for many cultures before the current era. The vast expanses of the Transylvanian woods make the perfect backdrop for this meticulously designed exhibition. This is monumental!

Most beautiful Romanian museum. You might think that the entrance fee it s a bit high, however is more than worth it.
Take yourself an entire day and comfy shoes if you wanna see it all. It s extremely big.
Inside you ll also find two traditional restaurants with very good food at affordable prices and a small cafe bar with a terrace.
A lot of places where you can rest with a beautiful lake view.

A very nice and authentic exposition of the traditional romanian village life. The museum is very large, with multiple sectors and you can spend a whole day in here just wandering around.
At the time of writing, the price is 25 RON/ticket for adults (i.e. 5 euro) but only 7 RON/ticket (1.5 euro) for children/students. Within the miseum, there are a couple of restaurants with traditional food if you wanna grab a a bite.
Also, it is very close to the Zoo which is nice. There is a bus that gets you from Sibiu to this museum (no. 13 if i remember correctly).

Nice. The museum was born out of the desire of the Romanians to define their own ethnocultural identity, in the ethnic conglomerate of the Austro-Hungarian Empire and against the background of the cultural emancipation of all the peoples of central and south-eastern Europe. Cool. Nature.
