Great live Cajun music, superior jambalaya, excellent blackened Mulate's catfish
Excellent food and great menu. Atmosphere pleasant and roomy. Would definitely go again. Good location and great service.
The staff was rude, and unprofessional...we saw 2 older couples just walk in off the street and were immediately seated...seemed like they were picking from the waiting list...we waited approximately 1 hour and 45 minutes when we decided enough was enough...they might have awesome food, but we were left with a sour taste in our mouth...
I can't compare to true authentic Cajun food but our family truly enjoyed our meal here while in town.
Ordinary food. Way over priced. Dont bother. Kids meals over $12?? Never again.
Very overpriced for the quality!! We could have went down the road and got the same thing for cheaper. I expected the food to be exquisite for the price, but it just wasn't. It was just okay. The waitress rushed us when ordering, which was very annoying. They also added an automatic 18% gratuity and we were only a party of 3. I wouldn't have minded this if I wasn't so annoyed with the server already. Will not return!
We kind of just run into the restaurant but the food was amazing! It is traditional Cajun food, the menu had a lot of variety, and the food was amazing! The service was really good. We had someone who is vegetarian, someone who doesn't eat seafood, and someone who loves seafood. There were options for everything.
Excellent Cajun meal. Fun music. You won't leave hungry! Lots of food!
Super tasty, great drinks and lots of fun with live music.
Loved the redfish! Nice atmosphere and very friendly staff
Absolutely best place to eat authentic Cajun food, with the best entertainment to go along with it.
First time to New Orleans. First restaurant we ate in. Was a little worried about the food. Didn t worry any longer after eating at Mulate s. Great variety of food and everything looked delicious including the Po Boy I got. And definitely save room for dessert because they ALL were incredible!
Service was very friendly. 1st time food was excellent.
I come out every other year from Cali. A must stop meal place!
Well known for their cajun food. We shared a platter that included alligator, frog legs, calamari, tilapia, stuffed mushrooms and meat pies. Came back for key lime pie and the must have bread pudding for dessert. They have live music in the evening. The service was great as well.
This place was spacious
Food was excellent..service
Was also great..nice place.
Mardi Gras shrimp po boy is a excellent choice! Almost a buffalo flavored sauce wit a twist. Service was very fast and friendly even with the building full. Everyone at the table enjoyed the different items ordered.
Delightful place to eat with the family. Visiting for the very first place and we enjoyed the great food and music!
This place has the best bread pudding I have ever had! The sauce makes it even better! The food is great and the owner is amazing! He gave us free gator and dessert! The work staff is friendly and there was a live band while I was present. There is also a place to dance while there! Great place! Can't wait to visit Nola again so I can go Back!
Acceptable portion sizes. Food was nothing to write home about though.
A vendor invited me to this restaurant, and I enjoyed the food there. I had my first hurricane here and enjoyed the Cajun Style Ribeye Surf & Turf. They also had live Cajun music.
L.O.V.E. Mulates! Few years back we came here and split fried samplers platter ($25) and drank bloody Mary's. I was hooked. 3 years later, we finally made it back, ate and drank the same thing, AAAAMAZING again! Best bloody Mary's, thank you Jeremy! I love the coating they used on the fried platter and I want to mimic for myself at home! Great atmosphere with live music!
I had the stuffed shrimp and I enjoyed my food. My friends had the pasta and ribs. My friend wasn't a fan of the ribs. You get a huge portion size but wasn't that good. The drinks were ok.
Food, service and atmosphere were beyond a 5 star rating. Family friendly, food was amazing and service was even more than amazing!!!!
my first time in N.O. and this place had one of the best seafood platers I've ever had.
All the right ambiance for NOLA and all things Cajun! Pricey yes but also delicious and definitely go hungry!!!! The shrimp and corn bisque was great but I was extremely happy with the Redfish and Crawfish cream sauce! Do not skip the coleslaw SO GOOD and do not substitute the twice baked potato.
Great staff and fun atmosphere. Prices a bit too high for what they offer but the food was good.
Great Cajun food. Great Cajun music. Homey, unpretentious atmosphere.
Visiting NOLA we were told this was the place to go for authentic cajun food. My expectations were high and unfortunately I was let down, way down! I ordered the crawfish etouffe. The flavor was bland. There was nothing great about this dish. I did not finish it. The service was slow. The atmosphere was so loud with zydecho music that you could not hold a conversation. This restaurant is located in an old building with a large open space so the sound traveled. It was packed with tourists. I doubt locals eat there. I ordered a bloody mary and it had a ton of veggies in it. The taste was off so I didn't finish it. Frankly this was a huge dissapointment. Steer clear if you want authentic cajun fare.
The restaurant had no personality. From the hostess, to the bartender and everyone we met in between it seemed like no one wanted to be there. Maybe it was an off night? Drinks were good. We passed on dinner there because it felt like a waiting room.
The server delivered drink and didn't even ask if we were ready to order. We waited about min till we asked the host to get out server. Then we saw her refilling another tables drink, when she had pass right by us to get there... food was good, and family friendly environment.
Very bad, lousy service, the most fatty Creole food I've had.
This was my first time in New Orleans, and I must say when ever I go down there I will be paying a visit to Mulate's. The food was exactly what I expected and had more than enough to fill me up.
The food was amazing, the staff was friendly, and the drinks were strong. I will totally go back next time I'm in NO LA!!
I think I got food poisoning there but also I was with a group of like 40 Perupeople and the restaurant itself was busy so ig I don't really blame them
Awesome place/atmosphere...and the food was excellent!!!
Great experience! Incredible food. The Cajun Music brought everyone to life. It was so nice to see people smiling and dancing. Will undoubtedly be a return customer.
Great casual atmosphere with great service. Lots of options on the menu and they were delicious.
Sat by the stage during live music. Fun atmosphere, terrible service. Felt like our waiter was in over his head. Food was decent, but took to long to table, actually had cold alligator and shrimp. Might have given another chance in a week night, but will not return on a weekend. Two stars for good music and decent drinks.
I visited this spot on many occasions without disappointment. Best for music and Cajun bar sandwiches, fried catfish and lots of local flavor. Fastest and best place close to convention center. Bar staff is so friendly and helpful also.
Had the fried alligator and the crawfish etouffee not a big fish eater but when you're in Louisiana you got to do what you got to do good stuff probably recommended for everybody
They got our order wrong. The baked potato was very plain, the fish not much taste but the music was great. We kind of felt like cattle, big open place tables all over and they prices were crazy.
I had Catfish Mulate's (blackened) at the recommendation of the bartender and was not disappointed! It was like a home-cooked meal of comfort food, nothing real fancy just real good food. Overall pleasant lunch and I would definitely recommend Mulate's to anyone looking for a casual and friendly dining experience.
Great food and service. The seafood gumbo was outstanding. It needs a little more rice, but other than that it is great.
This place can be crowded with convention attendees. The food was good..
The sampler platter was great! Menu is authentic, but a bit pricey.
Not worth it horrible service I ordered some bread with my food she brings me a bread in paper bag, and the salad was really horrible with a hair in it, very dirty plates. When asked why she didn't put the bread in a plate or something she replays " there's a butter in the bag for you" this was business trip and I was here to check it for the group of our co-workers I am glad I came first. No more business.
Great decor. Smoked boudin is good. Gumbo needs more depth. When we arrived, server was visibly and vocally angry. It was offputting, but we remained pleasant and she warmed up
Large dining room like refectory. Very (too) fast service. The waitress who starts sweeping while we are still there. Mundane food.
Great live music and food who can ask for anything more
Awesome food and atmosphere! Will come again when in New Orleans.
Food was OK to pricey had 2 salads 2 gumbo 1seafood platter 1 crabmeat dinner a appetizer plate paid 167.00 thought it was ridiculous price for mediocre food.
Called on a Saturday and reserved a table for two the next day. No problem she said as she repeated back the date and time to which I confirmed correct.
I pumped my wife up with the We have a reservation;) tease and was really disappointed when I called ahead again to let them know we were on our way. She told me she didn t have a reservation listed, but! That she had opened tables so there s no problem.
We get there and I explain again I had a reservation but they contested with we have no records of a call or reservation . And then they let me know there s also a 40 minute wait. They were a bit argumentative, however still apologetic.
Just a big bummer. We were so excited. And now we re walking around looking for available seating at restaurants.....with no live music
Excellent! My food was delicious! The food at Mulate's was better than some of the other well known eateries around town. I had the shrimp trip. It consisted of grilled shrimp, fried shrimp, and shrimp au gratin. Excellent choice. I will return!!!
Huge open plan interior. Food was pretty good, live music was better though and very entertaining. Can get noisy when busy though.
Live music. Great food. Heads up cheapest platter is $18. Service was great and food came out pretty quickly.
The food is really good, but really expensive. Some of the best boudin I have had.
Food is awesome! Every thing I have eaten from this restaurant has been great.
Expensive! Food just ok nothing I have to have again. The atmosphere was shabby. Not shabby sleek just shabby. For the price I feel they could upgrade quite a bit.
Absolutely the Best... My Grandmother on My Fathers side was 4th Generation Being born in New Orleans I was raised on Gumbo ,Red Beans and rice which I thought was the best growing up, this place is spot on Cajun, there are others here in NOLA claiming they're the best but arent, this here is the Best hands down THE BEST.I can only imagine what the jambalaya and other food is like, I'll be back.
Great...fabulous waitress..Def a fun place down by Riverwalk.
The service and the food were sooooo good!
Place was busy when we walked in, very alive. They also had a live band playing which was cool too. Both mine and my wife dishes were delicious. Looking for authentic New Orleans food, this is a must on the list
If you are craving some delicious cajun food, this is the place for you! I had some Gumbo, fried crawfish, and fried catfish and every bit was incredible.
Food was just okay, staff wasn't very friendly either.
