During our year long search for a home in the area and now, for the year and a half of our residency in Southbury, we have frequented and thoroughly enjoyed Laurel Diner many times.
I don t give 5 Stars lightly, but Laurel deserves every one of them! Authentic, great value, clean and friendly! We re on our way for another treat this morning!!

Great breakfast. Didn't have to wait on a Saturday am. Loved the pancakes and the omelettes and hash browns. Service was friendly and fast. Cost is reasonable and they only take cash. A smaller number of tables but they have a large counter and the food was worth the wait if we had waited.

Took a drive out there loved the food Petes philly steak omelette was amazingly good, and so was the Pecan banana Belgian Waffle, wish it was an actual waffle size and the place better ventilated but all in all a great place for breakfast

Small, friendly, cash only, like stepping into a time machine set to 1950's and has the best corned beef hash on the east coast. ... maybe the best on all coasts and believe me I've tried a lot of the other so called "GREATS" and compared to Laurel they're barely adequate.

Can't believe I'm one day shy of the anniversary of my last review. Sadly, my wife and I moved away from the nutmeg state and a recent conversation about our life in Connecticut brought us back to our favorite "eats". Breakfast: Laurel Diner, Southbury; Lunch: Westbrook Lobster, Westbrook (Clinton); Dinner: Pepe's Pizza (The Spot) New Haven. Thank you Laurel Diner for taking care of our morning hankerings!

Always the best.
2019.09.22 Today my wife and I took our son-in-law to what he described as a beautiful experience. I had the Kiki, my wife the eggs Benedict, and he had eggs with home fries and Canadian bacon. Everything was perfect: the meal, the service, and the conviviality of this wonderful diner.

Best Reuben of my life, I think. It is one of my go-to dishes...I like them and try them at most places that have them...and this certainly didn't disappoint. Kids loved the fancy pancakes (rainbow sprinkles or something fun) and the server (an owner, I think) was really friendly. My wife was on a limited diet, and the menu wasn't very accommodating...but they never said they were or anything. That'd be my only hesitation when recommending. There were PLENTY of things I wanted to eat.

Everything's delicious in a small, friendly, local diner setting with every table being a window seat and counter stools are front seats to the chef at the griddle. Comfort foods at their best, especially if you're not counting calories or dealing with a restricted diet. You'll love the Belgian waffles and pancakes! Great place to meet your friends. Directly on Main St.

I absolutely love this place! I moved to Southbury in 2004, and this has become a staple for breakfast and sometimes lunch. Pete and Stephanie run a traditional family diner. The food is always outstanding and Pete is a master at cooking how "you" like it. I came because of the corned beef hash, but have learned all of his meals are the best!

I just wrote a review on Trip Advisor about my experience this past Mothers day weekend at the Laurel Diner. The Eggs Benedict was very delicious....divine. The Nutella Waffle was outta this world. The food is spectacular...always fresh (thats very obvious). The owners Pete and Stephanie are very friendly, down to earth people. They are locals as well. Pete does all the grill cooking, sometimes with the help of Stephanie's sister. The service is great, Stephanie and the other girl are VERY friendly, always smiling and never seem to stop moving! They are always waiting on tables, circling the place with coffee, cleaning....helping Pete...They work hard and it shows. The overall environment is pleasant and positive. If you have never been here give it a try....I don't think that you will be disappointed!

We were just passing through and found this place on Yelp. This is the real deal. Had the homemade hash which was terrific, even better though were the best home fries we have had in a while. It's a small diner filled with what looked like regulars, and they did a huge to go business in the half hour we sat there. It's a traditional diner, no pretty frills here, just good diner food.

Love this little diner! I wish I could review on many items, but the Laurel Reuben w/house made corned beef is so good that I can't pass it up when I go here. Best corned beef reuben around!

Wow. I have a new breakfast spot. Tried the Irish Benedict eggs as suggested, and while my heart is a bit less healthy, my taste buds are thrilled. So yummy!! Very reasonable prices. Coffee was nothing special, but I appreciated the prompt and free refills.

The best things come from small packages! I have only had the breakfasts the many times I have been there but it is delicious! It is interesting to watch the cooking. process as well. Parking is tricky.

Best hash in Connecticut. They make you feel at home. The chef looks like Lucas Duda. What more can you want. Our waitress was way attentive and even found time to crack a joke or two although the place was just getting out of the weeds. Rightfully so, the food hits the spot. Forget Denny's or Leo's the morning after that wedding. This is the spot to be. Down home look but don't be fooled. Good mix of clientele from families to the guy that reads the paper at the end of the service bar. Be sure not to fly by the place. Parking on site. Just enough seats for everybody. Man does their food rock, and it won't break the bank either.

I driven by this tiny little place for years, until one day I decided to go in. What a surprise! Friendly staff, cozy environment and over all, AMAZING food. The home fries are to die for. The cinnamon roll melts in your mouth. Overall, a great experience. There s is a wait to be seated. It s so popular that you have to be patient and wait, but trust me the wait is worth it.
