I also don't understand the negative reviews. The prices are very fair, and any outage due to extreme weather has been resolved quickly. I haven't had to call except setting up my account a little over a year ago and the employees were helpful and professional.

I contacted Mountain view today to ask the cost of a yard light on my property. Receptionist answered and ask how she could help me ,I said looking for the cost of a yard light after an extended length of hold time the receptionist came back on the line to tell me that I would have to go on the website and request this info . I find this rather absurd I told her I am in contact with you now. So needless to say I will not go to the website I reached out directly and you could not answer my question.

When I called to set this up they told me there might be a deposit required, but as I have good credit and pay my bills none was required. Almost every one of these complaints is because the people don t bother to pay their bills. Pay your bills=keep your electricity. Don t=get shut off. Pretty cut and dry!

Emergency service during outage is completely missing. For a utility that breaks as often as they do, you would think they could at least get that part right.

Anyone using Generac or other backup equipment? I bet their service is better

This is starting to get old power out again lost power just around 2:00 pm 03/14/2020 now I m told we could be out for until 11:30 pm am the 15th were just filled are freezer these outages are costing me money it sad that we have no choice but to have you as are provider

Super expensive poorly run service. I only use this company because there is no other electric provider in my service area. I can not wait to move from this area. This company honestly sucks!!! If you don't have to use them, DONT! I have to go through four different companies for electric, water, trash and gas, and this company is by far the worst I deal with.

Absolutes worst company as far as Green user are concerned. They make their decisions to punish low power users by raising their connect fee by 15.2% !!!!

And they justify it with complete BS logic!!!

They try and say that the cost of delivery has nothing to do with the amount of electricity delivered!!!!

Are they complete idiots???? Because I'm not.

Worst utilities company I've ever dealt with. They find any reason to take more money from you. I paid half the bill they said it was fine if I paid the other half when I got paid 3 days later. When I was at work they proceeded to turn off our electric when I had done a payment over the phone that day and I had no idea until 10pm. No call, no notification that day before turning it off. Calling a week ahead apparently counts as their calls when I paid the bill already. The stupid customer service rep neglected to tell us if we didn't pay the reconnection fee by 4pm the bill would go up she said AFTER HOURS which they close at 5:30. Now we managed to get the money and got back by 5 the same day and she said it's no longer $221 but $346 to turn our power back on. They're absolutely ridiculous. Every time I go back in somehow I owe more moneu. This is ridiculous. I'm moving so I don't have to deal with this horrible company ever again. Had no choice where we live.

Terrible. Customer with them for 14 years, never missed a bill or even late, then I sign up for auto-pay, things get messed up, 1 bill gets missed for $148, and before the next bill is even out (that is less than 30 days from the prior bill due date), they come by and turn off my electricity. What if someone, say elderly, had been home on a medical device? Or if someone was out of the country during the winter and thought the bill was being paid by auto pay? The Colorado PUC needs to take a hard look at them... way abusive of their use of turning off power and potentially causing great personal or property harm

Although I have had no problem with MVE since 2005, recently my experience has been bad. I had a tenant at a single family resident that was using excess electricity (they were growing a lot of weed & got busted). So cleaned up the property, moved new great tenants in. Now my tenants are required to pay a $10,000 plus deposit. They couldn't, so I have to pay the bill and charge them. I have to wait 6 months to be re-evaluated to drop it down residential service again. This is wrong.

Absolutely horrible customer service. If had a choice would never use this fake co op. There is a strong reason why there is so many 1-star reviews. Very user unfriendly site, especially in regards to moving.

Great dependable service. Mountain View has been our electricity provider for 21 years. Talking with friends who have other providers, we have had a lot less interruptions and or outages. They have been helpful and courteous with us.

I've experienced excellent customer service from Mountain View Electric for the past 37 years at my home North of Falcon. Mountain View Electric has higher electricity rates, but it seem most of this additional cost is due to the low density of population compared to municipal areas.

Thank you for your hard work yesterday. We were not expecting power on until Thursday afternoon. We were totally shocked and so very grateful for power Wednesday evening. Thank you again for your hard work on a day when many people didn't go in to their office jobs; I can't even begin to fathom how challenging and physically taxing it was. Excellent communication too; your alerts had us prepared not to receive power for 24 hrs, so we could take appropriate matters to keep warm. Phenomenal work!

TLDR: Decent service, but ridiculous flat rate monthly grid access fee.

No issues with service. They do their job on that end. However, the flat rate Grid access fee is ludicrously high. I cringe every month looking at that compared to how much I spend on the electricity itself(~50% additionally on top of of my electricity bill). Would rather pay a higher rate for electricity than pay this ridiculous flat rate every month. At least then I'd have more control of my monthly bill. Would definitely recommend finding a complex that doesn't have this place as your only option for electricity. I will be sure to no longer use their services once my lease runs out and get a new place.

Why in the world would a "member owned" coop, only be open 4 days a week? I called about a street light outage 3 months ago and was told that it is the responsibility of Cherokee Metro (who bills us for said street light). Cherokee says it's the MVEA who takes care of the street lights. I don't care who is responsible! Fix the dang light! It's dark and dangerous here. It's strange that they can tear up all the streets to lay new electric lines, but not stop to change a light-bulb. They have been working here since August, which is how long our light has been out. We are charged 1.40 a month for the light, so by November I expect a 5.60 refund on my bill from Cherokee. Like that will happen! Come on MVEA, take responsibility. If someone coming into our home takes a spill, it becomes a HUGE liability. End of rant.

The $300 deposit seems ridiculous. I pay $1200 a month for rent. I don't think an $80 electric bill is going to trip me up. Also, the cost seems very high after coming from colorado springs utilities.

So my wife and I sold our house because my wife was going to basic training. I tried to shut off service to the house and cannot because while I'm an authorized user I'm not the main. This means for the next three months while my wife is in basic I will be paying for the new owners electric bill or have a bad credit. Such BS. If we no longer own the house then we no longer should have to pay

This is the WORST EVER company. They will shut off your electricity for nothing. I understand that they want there money but this is crazy. I admit that I have been late to pay however it gets paid but to add on 360.00 deposit because I am late a couple of times COME ON PPL!!!!!
there is NO love NO understanding NOTHING
ITS TIME FOR SOLOR PANELS!!!!!!!!!!

The price with electric through them is outrageous...

The price with electric through them is outrageous the only reason anyone goes through them is because they have no choice if they aren't within Colorado springs utilities. I only use 30 dollars or so worth of electric and to be charged a grid access fee of the same amount is ridiculous. UPDATE : they are still the worst company who isn t open on Friday? Called to transfer my power to another apartment in the same building thought that it had been done only to call back and been told that they didn t do it because I needed to reapply and they wouldn t date back my service even though I m not in my old apartment. How do they get away with being such a terrible company CSU is much better I wish we lived in their area. Maybe with all the money they get with the "grid access fee" they can hire some more customer service reps so you aren't on hold forever. They really are a electric Monopoly like previously said. I really wish they could be put out of business. Don't buy a house in their area. I'm editing this now as I've been on hold for nearly 30 minutes.

Criminal Utility Company. MVEA is making every attempt they can to make it impossible for your home to have solar power. They do this by lowering the cost for electricity and charging you a ridiculous connection fee. It's a shame to be fighting clean energy, but MVEA still doesnt feel like they are getting a big enough pay day. Shame on them.

Already disappointed and I just started with them

I bought a new house and I haven't moved in yet. I received a door hanger saying I had 2 days to register my new account or they WOULD SHUT OFF MY POWER.

Thankfully I did recieve that notice and my heat wasn't shut off in the middle of the winter in an unoccupied house in Colorado where the pipes would freeze.

I have lived literally all over the country and I have never had a power company threaten to shut off my power ever when moving into a new home. Certainly I have never gotten a notice before in less than week.

Very disappointing.

I never had a power outage until after the fire of 2013 they laid new lines and poles(of course above ground) and now have outages all the time and for hours longer while their monthly fees keep going up. Please dont comment on stupid reasons not under ground cause i dont care lived with both never ever a problem if ita under ground.

Nothing but good things to say about Mountain View...

Nothing but good things to say about Mountain View Electric. Even during the Covid situation, I've found them to be responsive and efficient. I had to have the meter pulled today for some electrical work and they showed up on time, despite me having to reschedule the appointment three times due to lack of availability of parts.

As for the application process and deposit - not everything everywhere in the country is done the same as the east coast. Energy co-ops are common out west, and folks can certainly opt to live in Parker, Aurora, Denver, etc. and use a non-co-op if they choose. If you choose to live in rural areas in Colorado, you will likely have to deal with a co-op - MVEA is not unique there or in their practices.

Finally - if you've had late payments in the past or have poor credit, a $300 deposit is really not excessive. I have sympathy for folks affected by Covid, and MVEA has resources to show you how to use less electricity.

There is no customer service with this company. They cannot pick up the phone to tell you when they are coming. They just show up at your door. Leslie, (Unknown Title), showed up at my door unannounced after I had surgery to change our meter and pressured my wife into turning off our power effectively resetting everything in our home. This isn't the first time Leslie has showed up. She showed up to turn off my power with no notice in writing or otherwise. I have had ACH set up on my checking account for 8 years and I still have the same account. They cancelled it for some reason, then Leslie proceeded to make up multiple excuses and talk down to me until she realized I wasn't having it. She finally went away. I had to call MVEA customer service and wait on hold for 30 minutes then go through 5 different people to set me back up on ACH. Noone took responsibility for cancelling my ACH. This electric company is one of the few negatives to living in Falcon. Colorado Springs Utilities is excellent in comparison.

I have lived in the Colorado Springs area since 87 and moved to the east side 3 years ago to get away from the crowds, never thought my utilities would double in price with that move! Very dissatisfied with the cost of electricity and the lack of willingness to help residents when your in a pinch and customer service skills are basically non existent!

I have been a MVEA customer for almost 3 years. I have never had ANY problems with MVEA. My service has been quite good with few outages. My transformer got struck by lightning and the crew was out there very quickly, working until dark to get my power back on. I pay my bills on time so have never had a problem with that. On the rare occasions when I need to call for something, they are friendly, and provide whatever help I need in timely fashion. I just sold my farm and bought 40 acres just north of Black Forest and I will be in the MVEA district and I have no concerns about that.

Big surprise has only 1.5 stars! Horrible electric company. Poor customer service just want your money to provide a sub standard service. Very disappointing that this is the only option. if there was an opportunity to have another electric service I'm sure I wouldnt be the only one to jump on it.

Ummmmm, if you don't pay your bill, your energy might get shut off. If you have poor credit because you aren't responsible enough to pay your bills, then you may have to pay a deposit. The people who gave 1 star for those ridiculous reasons probably have bigger issues than MVEA.

I haven't even started service and to find out what the process is RIDICULOUS to say the least! This is our only choice and what I hear you have to also pay a grid fee??? SERIOUSLY?? They also have very personal information that is stored is personal computer's oh okay that seems like a hack waiting to happen!! This seems very you better drink the koolaid or else!!!

Terrible service and we are FORCED to use them because they are the only ones in Peyton. I think they suck because of that. They do NOT call ahead for work done to the lines. I have 3 small children with no electricity (no water, no access to the fridges, etc.)... I couldn't even prepare for an outrage. Not even a "sorry for the inconvenience." Don't even get me started with the rudeness of their Billing Dept... I wish so much that we had other options out here so we don't have to put up with this unprofessional and inconsiderate "association."

This storm was crazy, and we lost power for quite some time. I understand that there were so many people out and I know how hard it is to get everyone back up and running after an act of god. Thank you all for your hard work in blizzard conditions to get everyone's power back on! I know you all work your tails off, and I know you are all still out there, exhausted and freezing but still working. You are appreciated!!! Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!!!

We had to call Mountain View twice to assist with issues with our power box (not their fault) and they came out IMMEDIATELY both times. The MV workers on the phone and in person were super polite and helpful and accommodating. We were very thankful for their expertise, attention and speed.

I've been desperately trying to make my home more energy efficient, I really hate $400.00 bills in the winter. I'm freezing, in the dark and do minimal cooking. Now my hot w water heater is out, called Mt. View for recommend energy efficient water heater information they recommended the brand they sell and even promise a decent rebate, said some of the other brands we were considering were ok but not as efficient as there's. So decided to follow that advice, but they don't have one available to purchase. Now I'm forced to settle for less efficiency. We deserve credit on our bill for this.

We reported a power outage during a blizzard. They immediately sent someone to fix it, and we had power back on within the hour. We also received several status calls during that time to let us know the progress. Excellent service!

36 years of having service with MVEA. Very happy. All ulitities have challenges with weather and other disasters especially rural electricity. Mountain View has always been responsive and great to work with. I enjoy the great customer service, hard work and great people. Billing is easy and straight forward. You get what you pay for. Thank you for your continued service and community partnership.

I moved here from TX and found they wanted to charge me 900 dollars for deposit bc they go off the past three months of the last person who lived in the home. The last person that lived there was busted for a grow house...it was on the news and that's why his bill was over 300 A month. I do not grow anything but a vegetable garden outside...my power was turned ofd bc i couldn't give them the other 400 plus the bill....power bill was 80 something dollars. I called kktv call for action and they turned my power back on and only charged me 500 deposit...thia I already paid...not fair at all to me or anyone else. I am not responsible for the past resident in the home...now it's going to take 3 weeks to get my 500 back... subtracting the bill of course. The point is...they are charging people 900 dollars for a deposit bc of the past residents.

They are honestly as bad as everyone says. It's sad this is the only place that provides service for some of the springs. Customer service is horrible. It's a hassle even getting your outrageous security deposit back once you shut off their service.

In Elicott, we had been in this blizzard for over 24 hours without power. The power literally went out as soon as this storm started, before we even woke up. (it finally came back on, AFTER this mess was over with.) We had to turn on our gas oven and light it manually for what little heat it can give us. We had no access to water because the pumps to the well wont run without electricity, and no way to contact a family member who was stranded in a ditch for over 13 hours because we could not charge our phones. This is completely ridiculous, they knew this was coming and they should have been ready for it.

Always have the most pleasant experiences with MVEA. The customer care team consists of polite people who know their job. I'm shocked that reviews are so negative when we have received nothing but the absolute BEST service in every way.

I have never had issues with my service with this company even through the crazy wind and hail that hit Midway. I will say that Colorado Springs Utilities is much more reasonably priced considering I pay for ONLY electric with MVEA and not everything like CSU. However, I have always had great customer service and they've worked with me through the winter months.

In response to ur response we did that when we opened our account with u. U guys didn't process it. Normal B's from u guys. Think I just want free money.

These guys are crazy, they want a deposit to open service, but then will only give it back when you close service or move. Great scam if you bought a house. And of course they are the only one who services Falcon. And during COVID they won't use the deposit to pay your bill. Totally an uncaring company that loves to hold money and not do a thing to help.

We called Mountain View Electric to update some old wiring and fuse boxes at a building renovation project in Newville. Scott, Kerwood and Elton updated, rewired, threaded and had it all done a 2 days. A few weeks later, they installed our camera system. Thanks so much for your knowledge, SPEED and great customers service. Family owned business. Will call them every time.

worst electric company I have ever dealt with. I just moved here, had power for almost a month and They shut off our electricity while we were out for a little over an hour. Made no contact prior, phone call nothing. Our bill amount was paid. They shut off our electricity, it was freezing and dark in my house. I called and said they wouldn't be able to turn it on till the following day. Apparently we never paid the 300 dollar deposit. So they said screw us and shut it off. I called and they said they would turn it on same day after hours for a 300 dollar deposit and a 200 dollar connection fee. I have a family to take care of so I told them I'll pay. I'll pay them but I wanna see someone out here and tell me face to face, why this is happening. BTW I spoke to 3 different people over the phone.

I called a few weeks ago and asked for a manager to contact me in reference to a credit being issued. I requested the credit because I had 2 power outages in the same week. I was having my babyshower at my house where my guest went unfed because of my power being out. There was no real storm or reason as to why the power had went out. When I spoke to a representative she said there was nothing she could do and it wasn't anyone's faults. I beg to differ. The grid access fee is also astronomical and should be illegal. They claim they're a non profit organization. Sure you are, sure you are.

Called with a simple request to see if they service a certain location. The lady put me on hold both times and I never talked to a real person. When I called the third time she said she couldn't do anything else to help me. Thanks a lot.

Worst company I ve ever had the displeasure to work with. We paid the large (outrageous) deposit when we first moved in. Now we ve been living in our house for 7 months and tried to switch the name on the account. They re telling us we need to pay the deposit again. Again! We already paid it! Now they shut it off because we couldn t drop another 325 on the spot. When we look for our next place I ll make sure that the electricity is not with these guys. The city is better with their customers.

Would give zero stars if I could. Tried to call 5 separate times to get through to put our utilities on notice to end but got sent to the call center every time. and apparently the call center cannot do anything about it i have to talk to another kind of representative, but that representative is never available. So now we're stuck paying utilities because they just send an email saying "we need to hear from you" but when you call you can never get through. AWFUL.

We haven't even begun our service with this compan...

We haven't even begun our service with this company yet and it has already been awful. We moved here from Florida and never in my life has it been so difficult to start service with an electric company. First off we have to "apply" for service, what kind of nonsense is that? and the customer service is only available during 9-5 type working hours? I have never seen such a thing from an electric company. I should simply be able to provide you my address, when I want to start service, and all other information you need to check credit or whatever. Then pay a deposit or not and then begin service, every other electric company allows you to pay your deposit online and everything. I shouldn't have to wait for someone to contact me to begin service or provide you with some kind of electric credit history just to "apply". It is not my job to supply you with some ridiculous information, you can look that up in a credit report if you want it that badly. I should simply be able to pay my bill and receive services like any other business in America, you guys need to update your system. Let's hope there isn't a power outage because I don't know how ill be able to get a hold of a representative since you don't seam to have employees available after 5pm. This is so disappointing.

Please do some DD research before buying House in areas that have this Mountain View Electric as Electricity provider. Worst utility provider charges like a money hungry wolf knowing that we do not have choice but to keep paying. i have ever known, ridiculous and alien type of Flat rate and on top of that Late fee and card decline fees Total comes to 187% higher then my actual use. Most expensive Lesson i have learned not doing homework before buying house in community with this kind of hostile environment. Wish they have negative STARS to choose for this. There got to be something that i can do about this guys.

I got an email from them today at 9am and because I work 12 hour shifts do not have access to my phone for emails, only texts and emegency calls. I check all me emails after work. So, the email say that MVEA is threatening to shut off my electricity due to non payment and if not received by 12/28. Today is 12.27. I called the customer service number and no one is there to discuss this situation and instead they ask you to call back in the morning when i will be working. First of all, I find it appalling that a company would only give 24 hours notice of service shut off without at least trying to speak to the customer or maybe even text. A call or text is usually received immediately and I would have been able to explain that they will get payment one day late because the bank took off Christmas...Not my fault. This is an awful way to treat loyal, paying customers. Ive been a customer for over 5 years, without any problems. SHAME ON YOU MOUNTVIEW ELECTRIC.

Really wish they would provide renewable energy credits. Seems like they don't want to help the environment or limit the need for fossil fuels. Also the 300 dollar deposit on sign up is BS. If I have the credit to buy a house do you really think my piddly electric bill is going to be a problem?

Our electric went out during the Covid-19 quarantine and a windy Easter snow storm. MVEA got it up and running within a couple hours. THANK YOU. With all our food in the freezer and no where else that we are able to go to be warm we are very grateful for your service. Thank you for getting it taken care of in the very early morning hours.

Local Monopoly...Installed a solar system with State $$...Mt View raised the "interconnect fee" from $20 to $40 a month...Just for the right for me to connect to the "grid" I'm turning mine off as its cheaper to just buy energy then produce it.....What a waste... Thanks Mt. View...

Very Impressed! We had MVE run electricity to our 40ac plot of land and had nothing but a great experience. Their team kept tweaking our poles and seeing ways to run the power in a way that work work efficiently but also give us the best price possible. From start to finish the communication was great and prompt and we look forward to having them as our electric company for the next 30+ years!!

Where is the zero star! We have been a loyal customer for eight years, never missed a payment or late. We have been on auto pay the whole time. We sold our house and notified them. We assumed the last bill would come through our auto pay. We moved a few miles away with a new company, never got a last bill (could be because we were forwarding our mail) but then a bill comes through a collection agency. WOW, no email, phone call or anything. Great way to treat your long-time loyal customer. I can't wait when the time comes when we have a choice.

The lady who answers the phone is very kind. She took several of my phone calls and didn't stop until she found someone for me to talk to. Dan is very kind as well. He squeezed our appointment in so we could have our power turned back on after we had some fire damage. They both understand the human aspect. Thank you both.

*An update from a few weeks ago I had an issue and was connected to Debbie, who resolved my issue faster than the entire company combined. She also gave me a follow up call about a bill that was accidentally double-charged to make sure everything was taken care of and to offer any additional assistance. For a company that does nothing, Debbie is the shining star! I am always going to try to talk to her when I have an issue.

This company is a joke. If I could put no stars, the rating wouldn't be low enough.

I have only lived within MVE's service area since July. Already I can't wait to move back to CSU's area. My first bill was roughly $30, it was for 2 days and over $25 was charged for a grid access fee, a set fee that literally comes out every month no matter how little you use. I only used about $3 of electricity for my first bill.

When you call to ask about this ridiculous Grid Access charge the people you will talk to either laugh or tell you it's a fixed rate and get over it. Everyone is extremely rude and unhelpful. On top of being billed a stupid amount, I had to put down $300 for a deposit that they hold for a year. This company makes me so angry I almost don't want to use the stupid electric in my building.

Been with them for over 3 yes. In that time I have never not paid a bill. I have always paid. When I signed up they made me pay a deposite of 400.00. I had no choice because they are the only service available. They use this to make sure you know they own you. I moved to another neighborhood and called to transfer service. They made me pay another deposit of 350.00 because I was late 2 times in one year. This company is a joke. I hope one day they go bankrupt. It is my desire to see them suffer financially for the hardship they have placed on every one who is under their thumb. This is ridiculous. The sad thing is, that they don't care at all. I guess they all make enough money to not care about a few hundred dollars. I would be ashamed if I was an employee of this company. I asked them if I could pay my deposite over 2 months and they said and inquote "if it was a 400 dollar deposite then we would allow that but it's not. You have to pay it or you will not recieve services." If there was a place to put zero stars I would. Worst experience of my life.

Got to show appreciation where it's due- Thanks for making it easy to pay online. Extending that to 2020, what do you think about adding easy bill pay app providers like prism, etc. ??

I'm also thankful for all the communications from Mountain View Electric. You guys are great. The crew in the field are quick to fix everything even in our snow storms, and I appreciate you guys!

Thank you!

Stupid website that never opens on any device. I haven't received a bill in two months and don't want my service shut off in the middle of winter. Lady on the phone was slow, unhelpful, took forever to end up telling me she couldn't help me set up auto payments over the phone. I want a new utility company but there aren't any, which is why these people get to suck at every aspect of their "business". Please offer zero stars.....

By far the worst utility provider in the Colorado Springs area. I truly wish that Colorado Springs Utilities could handle our utility services as MVE truly only wishes to steal customers money.

I'm honestly a little surprised by all of the negative reviews. MVEA has always been very professional with us. As a matter of fact, they've been incredibly understanding and sympathetic when we have had power issues, any concerns or complaints or billing issues. I spoke to a very nice woman (I forgot her name) this morning in their billing/member services department. After joking back and forth about the snowy weather, she took time to assist me with an issue I had with my bill. She was incredibly kind, patient and understanding and helped me more than she probably even knows. We have been using their services since 2017 and, personally, we have never experienced anything negative with them at all. Thank you for taking the time to listen and address my concerns and billing issues. It truly is appreciated.

waited on the phone for 15 minutes just for rosie to answer and say i can not answer your question i will have someone call you back... Really? tell me you dont know right away instead of having me wait for 15 minutes then telling me this. I have things to do but apparently customer service doesnt mean S*** to these people. Thanks for nothing!

Terrible company, I've lived out here for a couple months and the power seems like it's constantly out. I've never lived somewhere with such poor service, and it's not just out for a little bit, it's out for hours, total garbage pile of a service! Don't give your automated response either, that frustrates me more, at least take the time out for a personal reply, you worthless example of an electric company!

Day 3 of no power or heat in yoder. Just read in the news a man froze to death just south of us. Wonder if I can use the weather as an excuse to not pay my bill. They do to skirt their responsibilities .
