I miss this place! It s a gem and I wish we could have taken it with us when we moved. Clean, up to date, never crowded in my experience. The classes are geared toward older people, which is fine. There are lots of video workout options when classes aren t in session as well.

Update Nov 2019: I ended up moving gyms since the travel across town ended up not working out for my new baby. By the time I got there she was tired and I could never complete a workout. The room was also boiling hot. I had to completely undress her the few times I brought her in. I volunteered to donate a small evaporative cooler for the room, but they declined. It would benefit the kids if the thermostat was moved into that room. There's no airflow or circulation.

My biggest gripe to date is the inability to get anyone from there to call or email me about cancelling my membership. It was up in August 2019. I haven't used their services since about April. I called in August and they wanted me to drive there to sign a paper for 5 minutes. I asked if they could just email it to me. The girl at the front desk didn't know and transferred me to the managers phone who didn't answer so I left a message. That was back in August. No one called me back. I emailed. I recently emailed again. I got a fast response when I emailed asking questions about their gym with the possibility of joining. Now the service is not great when you want to end the business relationship. I cancelled my credit card so they can't continue to charge me since I fulfilled the contract obligations and haven't used them in 7 months.

I'm changing my rating to 3 only because their customer service for leaving the facility is lacking, as well as the childcare area. Other than that I still stand by the quality of the gym area and the professionalism of the staff. The value for the price is still one of the best deals in the area. The only gripes are the ones I stated above, which I think are pretty serious.

I have had a membership for nearly a year, but I had a rough pregnancy and didn't get to work out like I wanted. I recently started back. I really like this gym. I have to drive 30 mins to get there and 30 to get home, but the price for what you get is exceptional. When I originally moved here I looked into Gold's, but some of their policies were ridiculous and the price was way too expensive for what you get. I would've paid over $100/month because childcare is $12/kid per day and in then fine print an infant counts as two. The manager didn't even know the fine print stated that. At Mt Vernon I get childcare, access to a dietician if I want it, they have personal trainers, classes, a massage therapist, and a military discount. All of that for $35/ month. It's worth the drive.

The staff are nice and professional. The building is well kept and clean. It feels cozy. The gym is never packed. They have a decent amount of equipment. I love this place. They go out of their way for their members. I highly recommend Mt. Vernon Athletic Club.

Love this club. The staff are very friendly and helpful, the trainers are great. There is a lot of equipment, and it's in good working order. I don't play tennis, but the courts look nice. The club is never too crowded, you can always park and there's no wait for machines. The club also offers massage and nutritional coaching options. I'm in my second year of membership and would definitely recommend MtVac.

My experience training with Zach Zyzyk for three months has been AWESOME! Throughout these few months he has taken great care to tailor workouts to my needs. He is easy going, friendly and his personality creates a relaxed and comfortable atmosphere. He makes each workout fresh, challenging, creative and most importantly FUN!

His positive attitude keeps you motivated even when you're not, Zach is a great trainer but an even better person. I highly recommend him to anyone at any fitness level!

It s Sunday, the door says 6am, google says 6am. It s 705am currently, and the doors aren t open. No special sign stating oh, we re not opening at our publicly posted hours today. No lights on, nothing. This is the third time this has happened. The front desk staff is mostly teenagers, and I m guessing whoever is supposed to open didn t feel like rolling out of bed this morning. Why continue to pay for this?

Great gym! Excellent customer service and always clean! Any time I go work out, I don't have to wait for an elliptical, treadmill or bike as there are many and it's not too busy. The weight machines are usually free too, and if you have to wait, there's something else you can use in the meantime. I get great massages in their spa and have found their personal trainers to be very helpful as well.

Houston... we have a problem! First off, the members and front desk folks are AWESOME! Only reason they got a single star. This club is fine if you don't actually want to play tennis. We joined almost a year ago and it has been ridiculously hard to get court time during normal hours. If you don't work for a living, you will be fine. You might get to play on Friday night when they have social if you sign up early enough. But to get a court time in the evening (before 10:00pm) or on the weekend, you have a better chance of hitting the lotto. We kept thinking it would get better. We even tried complaining to front desk and management. We told them we were going to leave and join another club. It was that important to us! Here's the kicker... after we told management (Dimitris) about our concerns and that we wanted to leave, we didn't even get a phone call!! He just sent an email telling us that we signed a one year agreement and we would have to pay. He did not even mention the lack of court time problem. His concern... make sure you pay me the rest of my money. Thats all I needed to hear. He will get his measly few dollars for the next 3 months because unlike him, I honor my commitments. Steer clear of this place until he is replaced or his boss reminds him of what it means to manage and take care of your customers. If you actually WANT to play tennis. Join at your own risk!

Great Club. Hidden gem right behind the new Costco. The club is huge and well managed. Staff is professional and courteous. Top notch personal trainers, spa, and they have new equipment as well. They have included day care, and are open late. I don't play tennis - but they do have quite a few inside tennis courts.
