Very disappointed with the basketball program for my son. He is 8 years old and loves basketball. I just don't understand how the teams are divided up. Today we played against a team with at least 8 of their players a foot taller than every boy on our team. We have a whole team of Muggsy's playing against a team of all Lebron's. Needless to say we never stood a chance. I would suggest implementing a skills day and dividing the teams accordingly to make it more even and competitive for this age. This has been an issue for the past 2 years we have played here. Other programs in the area use this system for their athletic programs. We will not be putting our son in this program again. Complete waste of money.

The after school program isn t that good. The staff are mostly made of teenagers (now probably college kids). When I went there I had to sneak more than one snack with me because it felt like I was starving there. The summer camps for day camp aren t good either. When I got hurt no one did anything. I got bit by a spider one time and none of the staff did anything and told me that it was nothing. That was an adult who told me that btw. it s different when your an adult and watching the people take care of the kids but when your the child your opinions are really different. I almost passed out of dehydration one time. During teen camp it started pouring rain and they wouldn t let us inside one of the counselors said that we wouldn t melt and that we would be fine. It was pouring rain. I still don t know why we can t go to hawk ridge anymore or why we couldn t go inside for camps. The after school clubs sucks and overall I didn t like my experience there. I m a teenager now and I was thinking about working there until I remembered my experience there as a kid. Homework club was boring. Kids choice was weird. The cooking club was the only thing I enjoyed there.

I absolutely love the Summer Camp program and staff (reason for 2nd star) but today's experience made me regret having a memebership here. I attempted to bring my two kids and nephew to enjoy a day at the water park and upon entering, I was told it was members only day and my nephew would be unable to enter, he's 3. I politely asked if they'd be able to make an exception based on his age and the distanced we'd traveled and was basically turned around at the front door. Once I found out that my nephew indeed had a membership, I came back in and was greeted in a very rude and dismissive way. After explaining, to the same lady, that my nephew was a member, she began demanding my sisters name, address and date of birth. She then accused me of lying because she was unable to locate her information in the system. Once found, she denied us again for her having an "expired membership". I called my sister and verified the membership had never expired and even after confirming it was indeed active, the lady insisted on calling the other location anyway to verify my nephew was actually included on her family plan, although she could clearly see it on the screen. We waited over 10 minutes while two toddlers screamed in the entrance and without receiving an apology. I've never felt so humiliated and unappreciated in my life. Very disappointing experience to say the least.

This place has gone downhill fast since all of the other area gyms have opened up here in South Charlotte.

1. Very bad management of the facility. There are no rules or structure that the staff will enforce because upper management doesn t support their employees. You have members yelling and cussing , leaving weights and equipment all over the place , members leaving their sweat on their machines without wiping them down, etc...

2. It s becoming a teenage high school gym. Groups and groups of teenagers who do not follow gym etiquette. Staff does nothing about it .

3. Bathrooms are VERY dirty and small.

4. Very small free weight area given the amount of members.

5. They charge $72 a month for just one adult. Way too high for what they offer .

6. Not enough treadmills. During peak hours , you have to wait for a treadmill.

7. Not great hours . They also close the gym a lot for staff meetings and close down excessively for the holidays .

Just moved to the area from another County in NC. Planned on transferring our Y membership next month however they turned my son away today stating he didn't have a nationwide membership (we do) and proceeded to tell him it was a "member only" day on Sunday anyway. I will definitely explore other options after supporting the Y for 13 years in NC. Very pathetic member service and very disappointed.

It is confounding that no indoor pool has been built. The outdoor pool has very limited adult swimming hours (early morning, late evening). Without an indoor pool the Morrison Y remains 2nd rate. We got tired of waiting and dropped our membership.

I was a member here for about 2 years. Overall it is a great and clean place. There is an outdoor pool, locker rooms, workout classes, gym, 2 basketball courts, and indoor track and so much more.

I used this Y mainly for the gym. They have a huge cardio section. Nearly everything you need and hardly ever a wait to get on even during peak hours. The free weight area can get pretty packed during peak hours and you can sometimes find yourself waiting around for a squat rack or bench. But if you go a little earlier or later, or if your workout routine is flexible, it s manageable.

The employees on the floor don t do too much. They don t ask lifters if they need a spot, or help someone if they are struggling, or yell at people taking videos of others doing lifts poor/incorrectly or for slamming weights or grunting like they are having babies. They also don t clean up weights spread out as the day goes on (not that this should fall directly on them, the lifters should put their weights back correctly).

There is the occasional beefcakes that act like they own the gym, or the squads of high schoolers that hog 2-3 machines/benches and joke off, but all in all, not a bad place.

Great facility, warm welcome, YMCA values in action. I am a Y employee visiting from the Suncoast Y in west FL, I have to say that, I had a wonderful experience at this branch. Keep up the great work and Y traditions, we will be visiting again. Thanks.

We walked in, thinking we would have a great time. The first thing we were greated with was two workers, having a conversation, when we walked up to them, they ignored us for a solid 5 minutes, and finished their conversation. We walked to the "waterpark" entrance. I , a 15 year old female, was greeted with a girmey dirty, smelly, and wet locker room. I looked around to find a private spot to change but couldn't fine one. While i was looking i came across multiple body parts (of all ages) that i did not want to see.I felt uncomfortable changing in front of everything there so i decided to go in a bathroom stall first. The first stall i went into had no lock. So i then proceeded to the next one.The next stall wasnt a good choice either because there also was no lock and then was feces smeared in and on the toilet. I tried to look past it by simply finding another location. I then decided to change in a nearby shower, big mistake. I open the shower curtain and saw water filled with dirt all over. I ignored it and proceeded to change. once i walked outside, we went to sit at a nearby table to eat soen snacks, only to be rudly interrupted by a screaming children talking about fetuses and male reproductive organs. We sat through the screaming, and finesged eating after being attacked by flies. When we reached the pool, we saw apon closer inspection that tge edges of the pool were a bright green from the mixture of the blue water, and the yellow urine left behind. The water murky, and i had observed various people spitting into the water. The we finally decided that this "waterpark" was not for us. On our journey out, we saw lots of garbage and rotting food. When i walked back into the locker room, i saw lots of roaches and waterbugs. We made our way to the deserted "teen center" and attempted to use the computer, which didn't work anyway. Definitely not worth the outrageous dees i pay for being a member

My girls have been attending the after school program here for 4 years, and we have been very happy. They are very organized, and the directors work well with us. The girls love the counselors there, and have had some excellent experiences!

I was denied access to the gym simply because I didn t not pay for the program that day designed for my age group. When I tried to ask where I could go to play basketball they had no answer for me. Clearly the 125 dollar monthly membership I pay is not enough, they need me to pay 5 more dollars to play basketball with my friends. Not what I call a fun gym experience. Especially when I had no money on me and sat in their lobby for an hour with nothing to do.

I love this Y. Plenty of great group exercise classes led by great trainers. Room for you to do your own workout, including basketball courts, crossfit, yoga, barre, etc. Plus programs for kids on up, including interesting cooking classes for teens like "street foods of Italy" and "developing knife skills." Outdoor pool for kids (with zero entry) and regular pool with slides. I only wish they had an indoor pool.

Good ymca option that is open until 6pm on weekends. The facility has plenty of cardio machines as well as a Jacobs ladder, rowing machine and seated elliptical machines. They also have indoor track, but It is very narrow. They have a small cross training area as well as a heavy bag situated in the indoor track area. I cannot speak to the group classes, however Zumba class was extremely full and seemed pretty high energy. The locker rooms are okay. Nothing fancy.

Very uppity and you can tell the people there run in tight cliques. The staff seems very judgemental and unwilling to help, as if it s a bother just to check you in or ask for assistance. Very limited weight room. I really just use this place for the basketball courts, which are infested with high schoolers who take things way too serious to have fun. Don t get sucked into the image on the outside, lifetime or La fitness are better picks

Jodie in childcare was so friendly and helpful. She took her time to explain everything to me and answer any questions that I had. It's clear she and the rest of the team really care about the kids.

Pre Covid: Too many kids and teenagers (they come in packs and hog the machines); crowded; old salvaged equipment.
During Covid: The machines somehow got even older, unexplained closure from 1-4pm; and while it is ok to crowd in the small gym space where maintaining 6 feet distance is unattainable, the big and spacious basketball court remains closed, but not to board members apparently! When I asked a gentleman who was playing basketball by himself if I could share the one available hoop with him, he agreed. Not 5 min later, I was asked to leave while he was allowed to stay, because he is a board member. And we all know board members are exempt from Covid and cannot catch or transmit it. Appalling!

Just don t, not even going to get into why other than too many kids, over crowded, only 2 people on Staff are actually there to help other people and uphold the values the YMCA stands for. I also haven t used the gym in 6 months because i cancelled my membership and Kathy in accounting is saying I suspended my account... that doesn t even make sense because when I cancelled they even asked why I am leaving and all that jazz... now they are charging me and refusing to refund even though I haven t stepped foot in that gym in 6 months. Save yourself and spend the extra money for LifeTime up the street. Super friendly staff, state of the art amenities, actual trainers that know what they are doing, helpful and genuine people, etc. That is all :)

Oh and I got that payment reversed... could have just seen that I haven t been there in half a year and given my money back instead of giving me the run around and basically saying I m S.O.L. it s the principle Kathy... what does YMCA stand for again??

My husband and I have been members of this YMCA for over a year and for the most part we think it is a good place to workout and a good facility for the community to get in shape. I enjoy taking barre and pilates classes. They have top notch instructors for both of these classes and they even give members a link to watch videos from home! One thing they can improve on is not allowing people to be on their cellphones while on the workout floor. It is extremely rude and disruptive. Who wants to hear these conversations? This is a time when people want to clear their own mind and forget about their own stresses, not to overhear about somoeone else's. In addition to that, I wish they would not allow people to walk into classes after they have began. Again, it is disruptive and annoying both to the instructor and the people taking the class . On a positive note, they keep this YMCA very, very clean.

Love the non profit aspect of the YMCA. Kids love the camps and programs. 19 locations for a great price! Personal trainers are top notch. They really care about your health and well being and will help you find what's best for you. Crossfit membership is great because you can visit all the locations and use the regular fitness center when class aren't in session.

This YMCA is fantastic!!! There's so much to do and it covers almost everything. They have baseball and softball fields, pools, hockey rink, soccer and football fields, a gym, a place to get physical therapy, a yoga gym, and many many other amenities. The gym here is top notch and has tons of equipment. It also has a lot of treadmills to use to burn off that fat. Below the gym, there is a Smoothie King so you can get post-workout protein smoothie. You could also just get a regular smoothie that doesn't have the extra protein. Overall I recommend going here if you want to have a membership to an extensive facility. It is a little on the expensive side though but it can be worth it if you go there regularly.
