Everyone in Tamil Nadu well aware of the price of power crisis and as a banker I know how many families lost their small business units to Banks for foreclosure because of the power shortage. Guys just wake up and support to this great initiation taken by Govt.. Please don't give any room for assumptions about the safety of the plant, which has no base.

Nuclear power plant in India which has come under ...

Nuclear power plant in India which has come under constant pressure from the activists to close it. But remember this is different from the nuclear power plant used Chernobyl or Fukoshima. This generates less power than the Chernobyl. The Chernobyl's total energy produced was 23,000MW, but this produces only 1,000MW of energy. Yes I do agree that radiation is bad but as I can see it is neatly maintained facility.

despite protest of so called "environmentalists" this pollution free nuclear power plant achieved completion! I was so happy. Those protesters should protest coal power plants which has obvious effects on environment. renewable energy is always best but till the time being a nuclear power plant is much better than a coal or oil power plant. thats what I say..

All those people who are giving it 1 star just because of Chernobyl misunderstood the reason why Chernobyl happened and took away the wrong "lesson" from it.
The lesson to be learned from Chernobyl isn't that Nuclear Energy is bad, but that not following protocol, lies, corruption and incompetence can lead to disaster. And that you have to be careful with Nuclear power.

With Climate Change happening, the world NEEDS nuclear power along with Wind and Solar and it is stupid to oppose Nuclear Power.
Where were you people when India decided to get Nuclear Weapons?
And now you oppose Nuclear Power which is actually useful and is going to lead to so much Scientific Progress.

If you are concerned then please push for safety, do not oppose nuclear power completely.

No energy and no power and no technological advancement is worth putting the lives of people and their living under risk. People who are praising this power plant by acting like nuclear experts , will you actually dare to have this one in your home town ?? Every life matters.

So much concerned about Nuclear power stations due to their security. Two big catastrophes over 3 decades.
No matter how much sophisticated the plant is no one can save it from natural calamity. In addition, where they will dispose tonnes of radioactive waste?
Apparently, nuclear power stations are not economical as there is no chance to dispose the waste with zero radiation. I belive, local residents were convinced by gvt without informing them the negative side of the plants.
Isotopes will take thousands of years to subsidise its radiation. Sad to know that this plant is close to Kerala, also worried about people who live close to the plant.

Visited it a few years ago in a public awareness programme. Its very complicated design from an engineer's point of view. Must salute the people who are behind the creation and operation of this scientific wonder. I think this Nuclear powerplant is India's most powerful and most safe one till date. It's astonishing that each of it's units produces 1000 Megawatt. Now two of its units have been successfully constructed and has started running in its full potential to provide Tamilnadu and its neighbours continous electricity supply. I think this Nuclear powerplant has helped reducing power cuts throughout Tamilnadu.

I don't know why people are having negative thoughts on hearing the word nuclear. Every technology can be used for good or bad purpose. For example, the same technology of light ( elecromagnetic radiation) which illuminates a room if used in a wrong way can burn the whole room (eg. A powerful laser).
Or for a better example consider fire: Controlled fire can be highly useful whereas uncontrolled fire can be highly dangerous.
It's similar for nuclear power.
Also nuclear power plant causes no atmospheric pollution and is environment friendly.

As far as I think this plant can't get destroyed unless a massive disaster like tsunami happens that destroys whole of Tamilnadu. So all people would be dead by the disaster itself and no one will be killed due to this powerplant. I mean to say this plant is that safe. Believe me. I am not exaggerating a lot.

Many are convincing to be believe in science & technology, but how come a nuclear radiation is SAFE and SECURE to humans and for environment?
A huge volume of water intake, processed and returned to the oceans, it's totally polluted with the radiation slowly.

It's not development, it's a destruction to nature and humans.

Kindly fix solar panels and small wind turbine in our home which costs very less.

Our science & technology costs 20-30 lakh's - even more for a cancer treatment in India which is not affordable for 95% Indian's.

#Save Nature...Save Humans...

This is the 'hope'. Stop the stupid protest backing by Christians of south India. They purposefully stabbing us in the way to development.

Kundankulam is future of India power generation in Public Sector. Its the beacon of all the upcoming nuclear power plants in India. Think wisely.

To all idiots who reviewed below nuclear power pla...

To all idiots who reviewed below nuclear power plant is not a safe thing! First of all I'm a materials engineer and I've learned Nuclear Metallurgy. Also i visited the Kudankulam Nuclear Power Project. Every nuclear Power Project takes a numerous number of safety measures. It's in personal level as well as General safety measures. The annual exposure of a person who works in the plant is measured at consecutive intervals. If the exposure is above permissible limit, he is given medication. Usually this never happens. Now Regarding nuclear waste, it's stored in fully sealed box and they make sure that the radiation never comes out of it. Also they have a simulator of the exact power plant controller where they simulate all sorts of disaster causing conditions and take preventive measures. Also the power plant is situated a long way away from living area. Also it is heavily guarded. People who never learned a thing about Nuclear Power Plants criticizes these things. They just know what others say. Also to the guy who said, we should rely on Solar. It's such a foolishness. Solar is such a heavily investment and gives out a little. Nuclear power plant is safe, highly productive and to be relied.

The Kudankulam Nuclear Power Plant (KNPP) is located 650km south of Chennai, in the Tirunelveli district of Tamil Nadu, India. It is being developed by the Nuclear Power Corporation of India (NPCIL).

Two 1,000MW pressurised water reactor (PWR) units based on Russian technology were erected in phase one of the project. An additional four units are scheduled to be added according to the agreement signed between India and Russia in December 2008.

Excavation works for the construction of units three and four started in 2016 with the aim of making them operational by March 2021.

Atomstroyexport, a subsidiary of the Russian State Nuclear Energy Corporation Rosatom, is the supplier of equipment and fuels for the nuclear power project.
